I am one of the few who dislikes Marvel owning the franchises....all of them. In reality, it is Disney who owns everything.

When you have different studios, you have different visions and innovation. I just don't think people know what they ask for sometimes.

Such a shame, they will ditch Garfield who deserves a better fate. People in general are fakes, they are cowards, and more than likely, give the opinion of people next to them. ASM2 was a good movie, just not as good as X-Men, GOTG and Cap 2. Such a shame....hoping that creativity is not stifled due to Disney being Disney.

One of the best things about Star Wars was it was never run into the ground. For 20 years the legend built up and was never ruined. Compared to Star Trek....seems to have awful films throughout. Shame that Disney will run Star Wars, eventually Marvel into the ground, or die trying.

Any how, 4 days till the Fair...hoping for some exciting HulkBuster news....

I realize I may be all by myself here but not only do I like Garfield as SM,I liked ASM2 more than GotG!

That new metallic luster paint, swappable hands, new board, and new larger buck would all make for a stellar Surfer. I agree that the magnetic feet, along with board featuring a metal strip, should be carried over...let's hope together!

...still awesome, but he needs more love and a re-draft would be greatly appreciated.

I keep looking at the 3 Surfers I have and wondering why I need another one....but I do. I definitely agree with your suggestions. I think a larger overall buck but with the more streamlined surfer/swimmer physique akin to the Hasbro version would be ideal. Surfer is not small but he is not typically drawn all bulked up either. The Select style (with more articulation) in a Legends scale would be ideal.

Not entirely. I will agree that I liked Garfield as SM but despite what they did to one of my favorite characters (Nova), I cannot put ASM2 over GotG.

Mecha-suit Rhino. (drops mic and walks away from ASM2 debate)

... anyways, for anyone interested, I ripped apart a fodder Marvel figure and took an interior pic to show her construction. Very simple figure and easy to take apart for customs.

@Kirathis

You're right that Surfer is neither muscle-bound nor lithe. He is one of those tricky physiques, like Namor (although, Namor is more obviously statuesque and powerfully built), existing somewhere between athletic and ripped. My favorite artist renditions of the character happen to be those by John Buscema and Ron Lim. To that end, the Bucky/Panther buck will suffice in lieu of a brand new mold...

Got my reviews up already :) Enjoyed the Anti-Venom but I personally feel it being too bulky, probably I just got used to MS' piece. :)

His bulkiness did kind of shift depending on artist, but at least they stuck to a head that didn't feature a tongue. I hated Anti-Venom with the Venom tongue. Venom's tongue was one of his more monstrous physical traits, a visual cue that he wasn't a good guy. Anti-Venom (as if the name doesn't give it away) is supposed to be the opposite of Venom; more restrained, heals illness instead of feeding on it.

I was hoping it would not be too bulky in person but I kind of expected it since it's the same buck as Toxin. Thanks for the in-person review. Sad too since it is one of the double-packed figures in the case. :(

yeah, I hear you guys on that one. Though like what En Sabah Nerd mentioned, the artist depiction changed throughout his appearances. :) Probably that's something to consider when getting one :) Anyway, it all boils down to how one wants his AV :)

Chuck.
That can be easily fixed if you have another of those pin joints in your fodder.

donmeca2020 02-12-2015 04:32 PM

I believe a few members posted a few pages back that they have found them in-store or online for reasonable prices.

We have not even gotten the Allfather wave in central IL yet. Good thing my BBTS case just shipped out today. :)

i guess they're only available out of the country... Advocate is located in the Philippines.

On another topic, can any of you confirm or not whether the legends look similar in size to some of the Marvel Selects? im not talking any of the larger ones. more like the average sized selects.

advocatepinoy 02-12-2015 06:30 PM

Got them from a Hobby shop here in Manila and it's somehow lower than our supposed SRP here in PHP. SRP's 1500 but I got mine for 1300 :)

They usually stand about a head or more taller than Legends figures. If you're wondering about a specific figure just look for some reviews. Michael Crawford and ShartimusPrime usually have a size comparison at the end of their reviews.
