Black Arbor 05-04-2020 09:11 AM

Okay, that's an absolute need.

Captain Nash 05-04-2020 09:52 AM

If i hadn't already gotten a second full wave to get a second Kingpin last year I'd probably bite, but given that expense I cannot justify to myself getting another Kingpin that isn't in the black suit. He looks good though, but I'm going to pass.

And my Dark Beast arrived a day early and is already out of the packaging. This guy is awesome. I do wish we had a mobile jaw hinge but that's not a deal breaker. So glad to get that one, now I can wait patiently for the case from Dorkside, which should hopefully arrive this month sometime.

I love him, and I’m mad that I need this figure when I told myself I wouldn’t be buying another Kingpin, but I have one nit-pick: why aren’t his pants stripey? This would be literally perfect if his pants were stripey. That said, damn this looks good. Like a piece of Romita art come to life.

Well...that was easy enough...

He's out there if anyone is wondering!

I disagree on the jaw, but only because that headsculpt perfectly captures the Kubert/Romita Jr.-style art of him from AoA.

It truly does. I get what you're saying about the jaw. I was just wishing for an open mouth "roaring" pose, but obviously we knew that wasn't happening due to the promo pics. I know that I haven't bought a ton of legends this year (10 I think) but this is definitely runner up to Doom right now for Figure of the year.

Absolutely, on both counts. For me, Doom and She-Hulk are neck-and-neck for the top slot, but Dark Beast is definitely right below them.

Also, now that we've gotten Blue Beast, Dark Beast, and Grey Beast is coming... think Hasbro might want to milk the mold once more and give us a Brute? Maybe as part of a box set of The Six? Because for that, I'd pay any amount.

SymbiSpidey 05-04-2020 11:11 AM

Works out perfectly for me....I like this more classic design a bit more and I can just use the old BAF for Shadow King. Win/win in my book.

Astonishing "Cat" Beast please. The original one Hasbro put out was hot, wet, garbage on a humid day.

I've seen him popping up on ebay and have been resisting the urge to spend $50. He'll turn up in a local Walgreens soon enough...they've been better about stocking exclusives lately, as I shockingly had no problem finding the Stepford Cuckoos or Emma Frost.

Unless you've got an extra one or two that you'd be willing to sell for a reasonable price... ;)

Seriously, the Iron Man 2020 figure turned out awesome.

So they nailed the look perfectly then! :p

J/k..mostly. Never was a fan of that look but I agree the one from the Nemesis wave was pretty bad. If and once they start getting to Morrison's New X-Men looks, that would be a for sure thing. Although....we might get Emma in her diaper...god.....I think I would actually have to pass on that era just for that.

With cameltoe no less. Don't tell me you didn't know about this already! :D . Sorry, no extra articulation and I'm sure Hasbro would have to take a lot of liberties in design to get that figure made.

Haha I didn’t actually. That was about the time i gave comics the ol heave ho as i was tired of universe spanning retconning crossovers and all the lil’ side books id have to buy to get the whole story. ( i think world war hulk was around that era...or maybe civil war i dunno i forget haha ). Now ill have to look that up. :D

It starts with New X-Men 114. previously was titled just X-Men as in the one that started in 1991. The specific cover is...well, you'll find it.

in fairness, the art was completely not my style. And that has given it a disadvantage at judging Morrison's writing. But then again I've noticed from other things he's done, he seems to usually have artists with very..conceptually different styles. Pushing the envelope sort of thing. his writing is the same way. It was just a low point in time for me in X-Men reading as Austen was doing Uncanny at the same time...which was actually worse...but I digress.

I'm guessing at some point we will likely get some of the looks from that era, they are sort of synched up as much as a comic book could be with the film's leather look.

When Kingpin was initially leaked I just assumed Hasbro would go for the lazy black repaint, which I would still have gotten just to have Fisk, but this came out even better.

Now I'm just waiting for AoA Apocalypse to go up for pre-order. My fingers are still crossed for an individual Rhino to be next.

Captain Nash 05-04-2020 01:44 PM

Oh gosh yeah, the AOA Apocalypse should come at some point soon, since he's a single figure! Bring it!

Starlord67 05-04-2020 02:48 PM

I'm kind of Lukewarm on the AOA figures. I want Dark Beast and Sugarman but only for my Villans shelf. I may order a case and sell the rest. I just don't have the room for a whole other shelf!

I wouldn’t put it past ‘em to release a black variant as a fan channel exclusive.

Kinda glad I held out on Kingpin but I hope the price on the baf drops hard cuz I’ll still need a Farouk body.

I am in that same boat but I’ll kick myself in the ass in 2 years when I decide I do want an AoA collection. I can’t do it though. They’re already hinting at multiple waves. I guess maybe I’ll try to get those same too and maybe the Apocalypse figure.

I think at SDCC or sometime late 2019 they were strongly hinting or maybe even more than hinting at waves. Of course that was the plan for it to all be this year I'm sure and then Corona hits affecting everything.

The way I see it we'll probably get a wave in 2021 and possibly even a pack or two. Definites would have to be Rogue, Magneto, Sabretooth and Cyclops. And Dead Man Wade in a deadpool wave. Probables on Bishop, Nemesis and Storm. Less likely but possibly Mystique, Nightcrawler, Quicksilver and Iceman. Possibly the other 3 horsemen, Sinister, Mikhal Rasputin, and Abyss. Long shots on some of those but maybe even Kitty, Dazzler and Colossus.

I know we probably wont' get half of that but I'd love to see at least everything listed above through Bishop/Nemesis and Storm. And Abyss, I REALLY want an Abyss figure!

Dodge76 05-04-2020 05:15 PM

I can't wait for War Machine to go up. Then just need a comic Falcon and Tigra for my Avengers team.
