What about the hips on the ones just under that size? Ms Marvel, Spider-Woman, Scarlet Witch, Enchantress, etc.? Same thing as your first post dustin? I'll probably use my smallest dremel bit and grind out a groove to help pop the top of the thigh off. That or the x-acto. I'll have to play with both depending on case. |

Thanks again both of you. The hard plastic hip on some of them is definitely annoying to work with.
In unrelated news, my son informed me that Sugarman took a tumble off the X-Men shelf. Luckily nothing broke that I can tell. Phew. |
I wish that Venom figure could ab crunch and rotate at the thigh more.

I found Crossbones with a decent paint job today, so yay, something good happened today.

I'm sure that Hasbro will eventually get around to giving us a Venom on the vintage card with an animated head not unlike what we're getting with Green Goblin....but to hell with it...I can't be bothered to wait. I got myself a new project to work on... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...924099_c_d.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f0725f_c_d.jpg Just trying to figure out if want to do that weird pink/blue outline that Venom had on the animated series just for authenticity's sake, or if I want to stick with just solid black. I remember hating that outline as a kid. |

Also, what were you asking about? I must have missed the post. |

Lightweight? That's five fifths lying there. You try drinking a whole gallon of Shiraz and not looking like that. :D I don't know where those bottles came from originally. I got em in a parts lot and they are labeled 'Shiraz'. |
Man, that Leader is the very definition of simple, yet effective. I love that they just went straight up classic comic book with the bright and bold yellow and orange, offset with his green skin and the black stripe on the chest. Probably my favorite figure of the Abomination wave (which is shaping up to be a surprisingly cool assortment).

What I was asking folks here, was as Hasbro continues to fill out our collections with remakes that are supplanting our older versions, how do you feel about turning older figures into fodder parts? Not reselling...(because for some reason, I struggle less with that.) I'm talking about turning those figures into actual fodder. Accessories aside are one thing, as they can easily be swapped back and forth between figures (all of my current Hasbro Goblins are riding Toybiz gliders atm)...what I'm referring to is more permanent changes that often cannot be reversed, such as removing and dremeling headsculpts and body parts? It's something that I struggle with personally, as I tend to not resell or dump off the older figures in my collection. We often have spent a great deal of money, time and resources collecting these things, so purposely breaking them or chopping them up, even if they are to make improvements to another figure, feels destructive and wasteful to me sometimes. There's something about keeping those original figures in their original state that appeals to me...as if I'm preserving history somehow because those older figures are a time capsule of sorts. I was just wondering if anyone out there has similar hangups? |

Totally 100% agree! Never been a fan of Hulk sized Venom. Classic Eddie Brock McFarland version is the one & only version that I'll ever need. |

It's funny cause it's the truth. I mostly collect X-Men stuff, but I have these 6 Avengers and I wanted to have some villains. I couldn't really figure out who Iron Man's main villain was. There are a few that are pretty big, but no one like Cap and the Red Skull or Thor and Loki. Maybe it was just the era of Avengers I grew up reading (I read my uncle's old back issues) but it seems to me like alcohol was the greatest battle in Iron Man's history. Quote:

I mean yeah, pretty much right up to the modern era it's been the Mandarin and booze. His classic villains are largely a bunch of bozos. |

I've got a custom in the works that needs the original MCU antlered Hela head. I've become attached to this even though I've got the upgraded version, so I decided I needed one to keep unmodified. Unfortunately this seems to be the one Hela head nobody is parting with anymore. The only loose one I found was in a lot with other heads I don't want. I asked the seller about just buying the one & they declined. Then the lot was relisted with even more fodder. |
