Gooooood ebay day for me. Copped a loose Gremlin earlier and just snagged Brood queen for under $90.

The general public doesn't care. They see Spider-Man, they see Peter Parker, they know who he is, they don't care what version he is. Most people don't even know that Spider-Man's spider logos and eyes changed based on the artist. They don't care. They also don't care who showed up in what episodes of a series nor what the paint jobs are, they just care about the character, if they care about the character at all to begin with. Look at those garbage Wolverine variants Hasbro has done in the last two years. The general public eat those up because it's Wolverine. Being old, nearly naked, in brown, in yellow, in gray, they don't give a damn. Most kids don't give a damn.

And I saw most because there are some that do. I know a few, and I was one of those kids. I only wanted the look of Wolverine that was his main look in the comics I read and was on the cartoon I watched.

CASUALS?!? *patooey* Kill 'em all! They're the problem!

Nah, you may very well be right when it comes to main characters that appear in MCU or whatever show is hot but somebody's buying all these comic characters too or else they wouldn't make so many figs for the discerning connoisseur.

I kinda doubt this is a very popular line with kids, but for those that do collect, I suspect you're right that they don't really care what version of a character they get as long as it somewhat resembles what they're used to seeing.

Damn right. What sense does it make to have armored DD on that cardback? That was one of the original handful of Marvel Superheroes line and was the only DD version around for a good while til I believe he was finally put out in a Spidey animated wave, but he never appeared in that costume on the show. Doesn't make sense to me, but ultimately I don't really care because it's the figures that count, not the packaging.

There's a real will they or won't they Sam & Diane vibe going on here guys.

I'm way more a Lilith Craine.

Remind me guys, grey beast was Avengers era beast right?

He was grey for less than a year, it started in Amazing Adventures 11 but he turned blue by the time he applied to be an Avenger. To my knowledge he never returned to the grey color.

Thor Laserpunch 06-13-2020 06:07 PM

Where did this gray Beast came from his Avengers time thing come from exactly? I have heard that several times now and I defo share this sorta Mandela effect memory for the color scheme. Woulda been good to know this was like a throwaway look for some solo stuff no one remembers a few hours ago before my order for him processed.

Not too upset cuz that head is too damn good. And I'll buy the obligatory blue repaint like a sucker because that charming motherfucking head is so necessary to his character.

That'll be the best of the X-Men wave

Thor Laserpunch 06-13-2020 08:02 PM

True. Mebbe we'll finally get silver outfit Storm out of that also.

Today's Pick-ups from Walgreen's & the local comic shop. Poor Jean. Still can't get over how smooshed she is in her own packaging. No wonder retail workers can't tell the difference between legitimate product and those infamous swaps.

Nice! Had the same idea when the Venom BAF was released. They could even take it a little step further by retooling the tendrils on the arms and the back-piece that plugs into the torso. Cast the whole thing in translucent plastic and give it a paint-job similar to the A-force Singularity figure. Definitely an easy re-use of parts on Hasbro's part.

Lmao that packaging is ridiculous! I mean I get it, but if I was the skinny ass figure in the box with the giant lecherous monster man head, I'd feel dissed.

Even her posing, with her head turned towards the opening and her hands gesturing towards that grotesque visage, seems to communicate an unspoken:
"Seriously, wtf..."

Thanks! Emma & Iron Man 2020 were from Walgreen's. Jean & Doctor Doom were from the LCS.

Thor Laserpunch 06-14-2020 12:17 AM

Lol I can hear saying “are you seeing this shit I have to put up with?” Seems almost intentional.

urrutiap 06-14-2020 12:39 AM

I still that younger folk think original Avengers grey Beast never happened. Yes old Grey Beast happened a long time ago not just in Avengers and original X Factor but back then for the original X-Men comic there was some side stories involving Hank McCoy screwing around with some think tank company that caused him to turn into first grey beast or blue beast.

its not a Mendela/Mandela meme nonsense.

Go read your frikkin comics

Thor Laserpunch 06-14-2020 12:52 AM

Then it shouldn’t be hard for you to quantify. Provide a run or story arc where you see gray Beast with the Avengers.

ariellagunas 06-14-2020 02:54 AM

Hey, I've just re-read the OG Secret Wars since the 80's. The Mike Zeck art was terrible, and overall inconsistent, plus you suddenly find Jackson Guice or Art Adams panels, and the even more terrible fill-ins by Bob Layton. But actually I quite enjoyed the script by Jim Shooter, but I despised the way Volcana gets referred to in a lot of dialogue with peyorative comments due to her not being a size 0. Horrible.
But nonetheless, I would love to see the remaining characters made into figures,
Specially Volcana, Titania, Molecule Man.
Lizard, the Wrecking Crew, Ultron and Kang need updates.
And it would be fantastic to get OG Rogue, Captain Marvel II, that green Wasp outfit and Rhodes Iron Man.
And it probably won't happen, but I'd love a Ben Grimm and Curt Connors figs.
And why not....Zsaji?
What do you all think?

JCarterVA 06-14-2020 06:24 AM

Hulk from Gamerverse up for Pre-order at Gamestop.com.

Dr Kain 06-14-2020 07:47 AM

I still need to read Secret Wars at some point. I've been waiting for Marvel to release it in omnibus form (or rerelease it if they had done one in the past).

Beast was never grey with the Avengers or X-Factor. Perhaps you should brush up before you try to "educate" anyone.

Hank had grey fur for slightly more than 4 issues of Amazing Adventures in 1972. He grew grey fur in Amazing Adventures #11, was wounded in Amazing Adventures #14 and in Amazing Adventures #15 his fur turns black. It was drawn as black with blue highlights, just like Superman hair was, but is specifically said to be black.

Then they just started coloring him blue and eventually acknowledged that he was blue.

You know, pictures like that kind of make me want to get an 80th Iron Man. I still need to get Thor too.
