To be fair about Static Shock, the last time they showed him with the coat was 2015, and he had a $45 price and was classed as a deluxe like Cyborg. Last year he was shown without coat, and a $28 price. A new solicitation image without the cloak would have been a good idea, but it isn't like they dropped an accessory and kept the price the same.

His look from the cartoon will always be how he looks to me.

Huh... interesting thing I just noticed about that Static Shock figure: despite not having boots of any kind, it has calf swivels, when previously, the only Icons figures with calf swivels were figures who had distinct boots that could hide the swivels. He, however, just has them plainly visible. Interesting.

Here are my shots of Static. Really nice figure, the colors and paint are all really solid. Articulation is fine, I guess, but this figure is one that could have really benefited from a thigh swivel. The boot swivel and thigh twist just don't cut it and it doesn't help that the manhole cover base, while it looks really cool, is a bit small.
There's few dynamic poses that can be done with it, even less so with both feet actually on the base. It works if one foot is kinda hanging off because its Static, but still. Upper body is all pretty much perfect, though I would've liked some more neck range. he diaphragm joint works wonders and the stomach crunch is decent. Would've like a waist swivel but the diaphragm makes up for it. Again, the figure really needed thigh swivels, but other than that, the legs are pretty much fine. The base is ok, it only loosely fits in the lightning but you can get some cool poses out of it with some imagination and finagling. But the real gripe here is the accessories. Yes, when this was revealed we were shown 2 heads, a fabric coat, the base and lightning even and 7 hands in total. I dont know how, but we lost over half of those accessories on release, and without much notice either. Everyone knows that this line has been a fiasco, but what the heck happened? I'm pretty sure this is one of the only figures not to have extra hands, right? I would've gladly paid the $45 to get all of the accessories, heck even if they had to remove the coat I would've still bought the figure. But it is what it is and we end up with 2 heads and the base pieces for accessories. Overall, what you get is nice, but for around $30(Thats what I paid) it is a little overpriced. Figure is maybe $25, if not lower. Hopefully we get another accessory pack sometime down the line, but at this point that doesnt seem likely. Either way this is probably gonna be the only Static figure we get for a long time(The last one was what, 10 years ago?) so if you're a fan, I say pick it up. One more thing: my figure's stomach begins to split apart. Its a minor issue, but always keep in mind DCC's QC issues. This is actually my first DCC figure, and fortunately I went in knowing what to expect. |

That manhole cover is tiny though. |
i prefer Black Vulcan over static shock, SS looks kinda plain looking. atleast the figure does.

I wish I could just buy the Rebirth WW with the single pack's accessories.

Damn, on top of the costume, Static's articulation is really bad.
Not a good way to compete with Marvel Legends. |
Static Shock has been one of my favorite Dc Heroes but that outfit is terrible! I prefer the More classic looking one from the Cartoon. That outfit Looks like he is some sort of Baseball mascot because of his unitard With a Baseball cap.

The articulation really isnt bad, its more the execution of it that couldve been better. His legs go forward quite far but they splay out and due to no thigh cuts you cant straighten them back. And yea, the manhold cover is just too small, I would've gone with making it a good inch bigger so he could actually get both feet on it in a dynamic pose. Is it realistic? Maybe not but who cares?
That said I got the bandai blue lightning effect pieces and he looks fantastic with them. |
Can you give Rebirth WW the New 52's hands without it them looking too small?

I've ordered Swamp Thing from Amazon, but I've canceled every other preorder I had for the entire line. I'm pretty much done until I can figure out if I really want to own anyone else (or see some massive price drops on Batgirl and the JL pack).

So this dude arrived today:
http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9h9sf1q3.jpg He's cool. I wish I could saw he totally blew me away and makes me want to get every figure I have skipped so far, but I can't. His size is great as he is bigger like Swamp Thing should be, but now that I have him in hand I do have to say he looks way too clean to be a swamp monster. Also, he is skinnier than he should be. I know he looked it from the shots, but since he was from the original design (not the House short), the only thing it looked like he was lacking was brown paint for the branches. His torso is indeed a tad too skinny, especially in the shoulders and thighs. However, I could easily overlook that if they bothered to paint the god damn branches, but they didn't so I won't. Also, his head still doesn't have the range of motion necessary to give him the hunched over look he needs. What the hell has DC been doing with these figures over the last 14 months since they were revealed? It seems like they ignored every piece of criticism and feedback we gave them regardless of the delays. The sad part is, despite the negatives, he might very well be the best damn Swamp Thing figure we have ever received. I'm glad I have him and he is far superior to the Mattel rubber dude, but a little bit of addtional effort would have made this figure true be the masterpiece it should have been. Crannix, on the other hand, rocks. The sculpt is phenomenal and it is a shame they will never do anyone else be it Arcande, the Patchwork Man, or the Fluronic Man. http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pspykxr6k3.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pssh0bkoz7.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pscdxadoi3.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psohfifwhk.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psvkx4ncgq.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pskosuscky.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8vjcrpng.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pso6n5qixy.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psx96csii1.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pscqa9gn4r.jpg |
