Interesting tidbit. The new Build-A-Grundy is just a scaled down version of the DC Direct/ Collectibles one. All of the sculpted details are exactly the same, with the exception of the new left hand in a fist, some major tweaking on the face, and the chest piece not being removable. When I was building him last night, I thought his weird left nipple looked familiar. Sure enough, every vein, crease, wrinkle, tear, staple, and yes, nipple are identical to the massive DCD one. If McF has access to old sculpts like that, I wonder if they will utilize them more and more. I'm not complaining at all, just found it interesting.

I wonder if the Gold Label Dick Grayson Robin will be the Carrie Kelly Robin with a new head.

redfox 10-17-2022 05:27 PM

This might be a stretch, but does anyone have the Neca Arkham City Harley Quinn to compare with Mcfarlane's Multiverse figures. Really interested to see if she'll fit in with the recent Arkham releases.

Could you clarify, in what way are you asking that they're alike?

Atomsmasher 10-17-2022 11:40 PM

I thought they looked similar in the legs. They kind of do. Got the extra cut for a knee. though the dc direct details are a little better for the armor.

Wow, that is super impressive, so much better than the original, repainting figures is something I’ve never tried as a collector but have been considering it, I’ve been slowly collecting Boss Fights Bucky O’ Hare line, but it ended before its time and some major characters didn’t make the cut, the big one for me being A.F.C Blinky, I’m considering getting the 90’s figure and repainting it so it fits in more with Boss Fights figures. Might you have any tips?

jwyss234 10-18-2022 08:15 PM

I received my Tim Drake Robins from Amazon yesterday. For my first Robin, I'm altering the sleeves to bring in closer to the post-52 costume from the comics. Just to get things started off, I sliced some of the sleeve cuff off with an X-acto knife. I still need to file/sand the rest of the sleeve cuff to make it less obvious, but profile around the arms looks significantly better.

I'm still working on the second Robin. I'm going to alter the suit so that it's more like Tim's suit from The New Batman Adventures. So far, I've sliced the tips off the bottom of the cape so that it's flat. I've also started painting the short sleeves black. It looks like the upper bicep is cast in flesh tone and painted red. Hopefully the elbow joint is the same so that I can just remove the red paint and have the bare arms match the skin on Tim's head and neck.

Spotted the Arkham versions of Red Hood, Diseased Joker, and Scarecrow at a local Books-A-Million. First time seeing these figures at retail. They had a couple figures each of both Red Hood and Joker, but a lone Scarecrow. Had to pick him up.

I know you didn't direct this question at me but I thought I'd chime in. Start by looking at FigureRealm.com. They have a tutorial section for customizers that goes over which type of paints to buy. Their tutorials also show how to do dry brushing, washes, and other customizing skills. You can also check Youtube for videos. Just find a YTer that explains things in a way that makes sense and feels achievable to you. Lastly, practice on some figures that don't mean anything to you. My advice would be to look for some of the 2014 TMNT movie figures. They have lots of sculpted detail, you won't need to do any joint disassembly, and collectors aren't going to be mad that you practiced on something valuable and highly sought after.

Just for reference, I started off painting the hubcaps on my Hasbro Transformers. I just tried filling in little details like hubcaps, tail lights, etc. I got bolder over time and earlier this year, I did this with McFarlane's DCM Deathstroke.

Figure realm is a great site, very handy for checklists. Thanks for the input, I’ve got a box of old toys in the attic that I might practice on, cheers.

Made some changes to the AC Batman to fix some things that were bothering me. Swapped out those single jointed arms for the arms from the Thomas Wayne Batman. Also swapped the hands and feet from a 3 Jokers Batman I had in the fodder bin. No longer accurate to the game...but it wasn't accurate to begin with...and the armored gauntlets from the Flashpoint Batman works well with the armored AC body, not looking at all out of place. Now it's a just a great, all purpose Batman with my favorite headsculpt that Todd has done to date.

So what about my poor Flashpoint Batman...who's now armless? Well...the arms from 3 Jokers Batman work extremely well...better than the original arms I feel, and since they are a bit bulkier...really help in giving Thomas Wayne that beefy, barrel chested look.

I would assume that The Titans will be based on DC Rebirth or Infinite Frontier. From what I’ve seen, Donna Troy has some cool costumes in the modern era. I’ve also seen rumors that there will be a Gold Label Beast Boy.

Arachnid13 10-23-2022 02:32 PM

Never thought I’d see raven or Donna, especially in the same line!

EvilMonkeyPope 10-23-2022 04:51 PM

Rebirth Donna would be keen.
