Though I think this also needs to be applied to Wolverine. |

Logan still has two (arguably three) really good, important costumes that haven't been done yet on the current framework: Astonishing and Dawn of X (with the third being the training uniform). They could spread those out over three or four years and I wouldn't complain, but I do think they should make them. I could do without anything else (but especially "Three Months to Die" armour and Fang costume).
I do want Daken and Albert too, though. Jimmy Hudson I could take or leave. |

Target had the whole AOA wave. I already have a set loose and another set sealed so I bought another Dark Beast and Jean Grey.

Today's Pick-ups:
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b7ee2780_c.jpg Couldn't pass on the ol' Toybiz Weapon X. So much nostalgia from those early Legends days came flooding back to me. Damn, forgot how much Toybiz shoved into those packages. Miss the dio pieces, the comics were a nice little bonus. Also, picked-up the Ant-man/Wasp two-pack. Luis is kinda just there. Planning on using him for parts, but wow where have I been sleeping on this Ghost figure?! I flipping love her! Nothing super spectacular, but damn she's a pretty nice figure. Love her aesthetic! Don't collect MCU figures anymore, but I'm gonna make an exception for this one....and Hela, but that's it!!;):p |

Remember, true believers - characters like Wolverine, Deadpool, Spider-Man, Iron Man, etc are the anchor characters - the recognizable "face" figures that help sell the wave to big-box retailers. Even when they end up the pegwarmers, they're the ones that help motivate a retailer to order cases to stock.
I doubt the Legends team really wants to have to give those character slots up for another Wade or Logan, necessarily, but those characters are recognizable parts of the brand to retailers, which to them, translates to more "guaranteed" sales. Is it unfair and a little nonsensical? Absolutely. But that's the way of life. I mean, hell, I remember back in the 5" days, when there was, no joke, one Wolverine per X-Men wave, even if the wave was themed around something where including Wolverine made no sense. (EDIT: Found one wave that didn't have a Wolverine, Wave 5, but that was the sole exception) |
^ True. There’s other considerations with each release other than will diehard fans want another Wolvie/DP/Cap/etc. I imagine Disney has some input as well, particularly with movie fig waves.

2 "Anchor"characters (IM, Cap, Thor, Wolverine, Deadpool, Hulk, Spider-Man, though in a stretch they might can get away with Black Widow, Captain Marvel, or Daredevil, as one of the two and for X-Men waves I think Storm, Cyclops, Jean Grey and Magneto would work as well) 2 Brand new never done before in any form characters 3 Redo of characters already done in the same costume (straight up redos) or in different outfits - NOT including anchor characters. Ideally 2 females and 2 villains in all of that. Movie waves is of course very different and when you take into account the MCU vs comics, anchor characters we're lucky to walk away with one brand new never done before comic character. (and it damn well better be Sersi for the Eternals movie!!) The other exception would be fantastic four waves, since they're very inclusive already and would have to be treated as differently due to that. Obvious at least 2 of the main 4 and Doom/Silver Surfer of some type If I were in charge of wave choices, AND I wanted to keep my job and sales, that is exactly what I would do. If I didn't care about sales or my job I'd make it so there was only 1-2 characters each wave that were represented in some form already. |
I don't know if anyone else is reading this one, but it's such a fun comic and the covers are always amazing
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...70b4d738_o.jpg And could I please get this as a figure in the line? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...0df16926_o.jpg |
Wasn't gonna pick this guy up, but how could I really say no to that face?
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...9474020f_c.jpg Also, finally buckled down and finished this kitbash that I started a long time ago. Glad to add to the lil Reaver's troop, now if we could just get that Lady Deathstrike... https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...027e2d99_c.jpg |
I think that X-Men action figures from Marvel Legends sell better than pegwarming stuff like the next Spider-Man or even the still pegwarming Avengers Infinity War/Endgame wave and Captain Marvel movie figures.
As soon as a new X-Men wave comes out they get bought up real fast. Especially with what happened with the Caliban wave from last year. Those X-Men figures lasted only a day and bam the next day they were gone. Walmart workers and parents who have the money to waste to dump those figures onto their kids who probably wreck those figures anyway. Its the Beast figures and Wolverine figures that get bought up like crazy. Noone else is gonna touch Wild Child or even Morph. Thats my opinion but there will be other people who are into the other underrated X-Men characters. |
Dunno what the next X-Men wave is going to be later this year or next year but the same thing will happen. Day one release theyll be in the aisle for the first few hours. Then struggling buyers like me will try to grab one or two then leave the rest but will regret it later. There are those Walmart workers that creep around the toy aisles scoping the action figures then theyll go grab up the figures.
Even the Fortnite figures have been pegwarming for months even the horror game Last Night at Freddy's bear action figures are still pegwarming. Its amazing that some of you dont get it or understand. X-Men action figures of Marvel Legends are more popular than Avengers movie stuff and the X-Men figures will get bought up like crazy in an instant. I still regret not getting blu Beast from last year when I should have had the chance to do so but paying 20 bucks for each figure gets a bit too much |

Still pondering the squirrel with a Deadpool mask in X-factor colors hidden at the bottom of one of the Deadpool images (the one on the bookshelf next to X-men comics had to view full image to see it).

I think availability is offset by the ordering systems of each store. Depending on who is in charge of procuring more inventory, the selection will vary. If there is a lot pegwarming, they aren't going to order more. Some stores don't put much focus on their toy departments without specific holidays necessitating it. I believe Hasbro does have some representatives that show up sometimes to check brand presence but I'm not sure if that hits all stores and there is probably some serious math involved.
I will say that I've personally seen Avengers and Spider-man stuff sell far more than X-men stuff. I've just seen that collectors and scalpers are more likely to buy everything at once while the average parent is more likely to buy a single Captain America or Iron Man figure. A store will probably sell like 2-3 cases of movie figures for every 1 X-men case once the rush for a new wave dies down. The Black Widow movie being delayed probably hurt the toy line in that aspect so I wouldn't be surprised if this wave pops up again around the time the movie gets an actual release. |
Sorry but any new Marvel legends X-Men figures get bought up in an instant at a store especially a Walmart store. More popular than crap junk like the Kingpin build a figure line which had too many Spider-Man figures that I know nothing about.
Dark Beast got snatched up all of a sudden when i left to browse the frikkin movies aisle for 15 minutes. So dont sit there and lie to me that Avengers movie figures sell better than X-Men action figures. X-Men figures get bought up in an instant which is crazy. Thats all I got to say about it |
