That's the new reveal for the month? Another lousy symbiote thing? Son of a bitch!

Veronica Mars 07-06-2020 11:26 AM

People actually like the AoA Jean Grey figure? Why? She's so unremarkable. Even the plastic feels off

En Sabah Nerd 07-06-2020 11:34 AM

This new Toxin looks leaps and bounds better than Hasbro's previous attempt from the Ultimate Goblin wave but I still would've preferred original Toxin over Brock. Having said that, I don't have either monster Venom because I barely touched the Venom wave and I prefer Eddie Venom not hulked out so I might get this figure.

StuartGreen2019 07-06-2020 11:37 AM

...THAT was the big Monday reveal? A repainted figure to make a version of an inferior new Toxin instead of the classic one a majority of fans wanted? You've got to be kidding me.

Granted, I was probably expecting too much out of this, since the last reveal gave us a bunch of goodies like the reveals of armored Daredevil, Electro and the Green Goblin for the awesome retro Spider-Man wave. But even so, this was extremely disappointing. If they were going to show us a new upcoming repainted figure, couldn't they have given us a better reveal than this?

Ah, well. I do hope Hasbro has some much better reveals for later in July. This wasn't worth the hype.

omega145 07-06-2020 11:51 AM

Some people seem to like it and clearly you can't make everyone happy every single time. I won't be buying it, too much like the monster venom and IMO those tendrils don't even look good. A quick money grab for Hasbro by using the same mold again. Guess they can get away with it if they keep pumping out great figures.

Last set of reveals weren't the first Monday of the month The marketing guy for legends tweeted that there was more to come possibly later this week

StuartGreen2019 07-06-2020 12:12 PM

@Veronica Mars - I knew there was supposed to be more Marvel Legends reveals later in the month, but I didn't know that more reveals might be later this week. I don't know how I missed that. Thanks for the heads up. I hope you all had a great weekend.

She's a great figure. I don't see or feel anything wrong with her. Maybe you just have a beef with Jeans :p (I kid, I kid).

Though really, swapping her head onto Dark Phoenix works as a quick-and-dirty Rachel.

EvilMonkeyPope 07-06-2020 12:55 PM

I was expecting HFC today.

Hehe. There was a posing contest where we had to replicate the pose without assistance that the guy made. Here are 2 others I did.

I had that thought actually, so I went to look into getting a second Dark Phoenix, someone was selling the body, no head no accessories, $70

Yowzah. Arguably cheaper to just slap some red on the Juggy-wave Phoenix.

Right? The price of that 2 pack is ridiculous now, depending on what costume they do Rachel in they should pack in a dark Phoenix head too

I am thinking they will reveal that the Friday or Monday before SDCC (so either the 17th or 20th). Since it's not being transported to a con there's less chances of it leaking.

What I was hoping for this today was either Nimrod of FA Storm. Though apparently the week's not over comment means more is coming. I'm sure it'll be something on the level of a Venomized Black Widow in terms of my interest level (as in not at all)

Agreed.

My wife recently got herself the new Dark Phoenix Bishojou statue, and looking at it made me realize, the door is open for a wide-release Dark Phoenix with an altered deco - a more vibrant red, perhaps, but specifically including the black triangle behind the phoenix emblem on her chest. The two-pack version omits the black bit.

Yeah the Phoenix emblem itself is bigger too. They could finally release the white Phoenix they skipped too

I know she only appeared for a few pages in Phoenix: Resurrection, but can we also get the black and gold Phoenix look?

Actually, the two-pack is correct in omitting the black triangle from the logo. The Dark Phoenix shouldn't have it, just the enlarged firebird emblem. While in contrast, Jean's green costume features the black triangle design with a diminutive firebird inside.

The logo is a visual representation of who is currently holding the control in the power dynamic between Jean and the Phoenix Force. The black triangle's design purpose is to be seen as a cage of sorts, showing Jean's will supplanting that of the Phoenix's. When Jean loses control, Dark Phoenix takes over and the "cage" disappears and the firebird is released.

Boy Blunder 07-06-2020 04:05 PM

...damn, I dunno about the explanation (never heard it before, but that doesn't mean anything), but art-wise, you're absolutely right. Dang.

Veronica Mars 07-06-2020 04:17 PM

They went so far as to have a separate voice actress for Dark Phoenix on the animated series

I didn't know that either, but honestly, I always thought Jennifer Hale voiced Jean. I jsut recently learned it was Catherine Disher.
