I've always wondered why they called him "Plastic Man", shouldn't he be "Rubber Man"? Did plastic used to stretch and bend back in the days?
|
Yes, plastic is a synonym for malleable.

Just got my Kid Flash/Psycho Pirate/Spectre figs in. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! Was kinda nervous I might get stuck with platinum, but I didn't. And the Psycho Pirate, easily, EEEEEEEEEEASILY one of my favorite figures to date and fits beyooootifully with my DC Showcase 56. Well, well done Todd my boy!

I'm going to have to buy 2 sets so I can display Eel with both heads. Ugh.

Aquaman and Batman give you two heads and two sets of arms already. |
It would suck to make Red Superman the chase of Blue Superman. They're 1/2 of a whole Superman after all. But knowing McFarlane, he'd probably do it.

McToys produces 10,000 of Figure #1, #2, #3, and #4 in a BAF wave. The "chase" aspect of all this would lead me to believe the Platinum chase figure was a subset (say of figure #4.) So instead of 10,000 quantity of figure #4, let's say 8,000 qty. are produced as a "regular" and 2,000 quantity are produced as the "platinum". If I had to guess, with tooling and paint applications, that there is some expense or surcharge to switch the paint schemes to the platinum version. If it wasn't a chase figure, and there were more figures available for purchase, then I'd suggest the ration isn't quite 80-20, but maybe more like 60-40 or 70-30. I doubt a ratio of 50-50 would ever be preferred. |
I hate the chase shit. If you want to release repaints as new figures, by all means do so, but actually make them available to get a hold of! And, more importantly, don't have this idiotic system where someone who doesn't want one might get it randomly while trying to buy the standard release online.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned it, but the early pics of John Stewart had the Blue Beetle sculpted ring at the top of the boot. That's gone now (I'm not sure if the new pics show a boot overlay or if that's a new boot sculpt). Also, the old pics of Blue Superman reused the Superman boot lower legs, and now they are smooth. Maybe Todd is finally listening to all the complaints about lazy, bad reuse?

Has anyone seen any pictures of the platinum edition 1st appearance Batman yet? He's supposed to have blue gloves.

Amazon always sells out so fucking fast, collectors ALWAYS go there first because shipping is free unlike BBTS or EE. Picked up Aqua man at BBTS but was annoyed to see he was already out of stock within minutes on Amazon. It's a pretty niche representation of him so I'm surprised to see it go so quick.

I just found out this November is Zatanna's 60th Anniversary. She debuted in November 1964 in Comics.
So if Todd needed an reason to make her Multiverse figure this year that would be it |
The scale pattern isn't even painted all the way down Aquaman's legs?
