..., my only concern is once they reveal her, that knocks out the last major hole missing in the series, as far as brand new never done in any capacity characters go. Everything else, neat as it may be, is just padding updates and new costumes for characters we already have. Probably why they held her back so long to begin with.

Duuude...shuuuuushhh. Are you trying to give them reasons to keep holding her back??? ;)

Tbh, I do not necessarily consider Pyro an upgrade over the TB figure despite all that. Might cancel my preorder and try to pick it up on sale.

Also, with Goblin in hand, not seeing how I can get rid of my Toy Biz version yet. Big meth eyeballs are kinda killing it for me.

Dr Kain 08-07-2020 02:27 PM

I finally found a figure I actually wanted on clearance for once:

It's one of my favourite sets, but I started reading X-men in the Dark Phoenix era.

Wait, what? I thought they weren't selling it until next month. WTF?

I've seen the Toy Biz GG and I think the new one is vastly superior even with the weird pupils. I just think Toy Biz's figures look like dogpoop. I get they were revolutionary for the time, but the few I've bought in the last few years were garbage and the pictures I look at just look bad.

Me too, I had already set my budget for this month too.

Edit: Also, I agree on the Toy Biz figures. The only ones I plan on keeping are Blackheart (because I've scrapped 2 custom attempts at him already and don't feel like obtaining/ruining more Wendigo/ManThing/Lizard BAF pieces) and the Sentinel BAF.

Fair enough. The fugly articulation doesn’t jump out at me any more and is much less noticeable in dynamic poses. Some TB figures are for sure dogshit, but plenty of them hold up. The soul is in the head to me though, and Pyro isn’t really doing it for me. I really would love to see one more variant of this goblin though with muted colors and daintier pupils.

Picked up armored DD also. This is the shit. Not really a look I would have considered essential for him but damn it they sold me.

ToyBiz Green Goblin still reigns supreme for me. ToyBiz’s paint apps are hard to beat on many figures.

Sorry, you're absolutely right! Though it's not as though they haven't had a list of reasons already.

First they "had the mold completed" or so they said several years ago but "weren't sure what themed wave to put her in" (Given her Spider-Man, Avengers and X-Men connections she literally could have gone in any non-movie wave.)

Then the mold they had for her was outdated, likely true but still.....

Then because she was a mutant she should only go in an X-Men wave. yeah okay, sure bub.

Now 2020 and all of its tomfoolery.

Facts. And I prefer the Romita style U-shaped bat glider. The new Gobby is nice to have though, he just aesthetically strikes me as really bright and more of a nod to the cartoon than anything else.

hasbroherofan 08-07-2020 06:30 PM

There are a lot of prominent to prominent-ish characters who have still never been made. Off the top of my head.

A lot of recent or recentish creations:

- Ironheart
- Amadeus Cho
- Miss America
- Wasp (Nadia)
- Mr. Negative
- Honey Badger
- Viv Vision
- Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur
- Quake
-The rest of the Runaways
- ANY of the New X-Men other than X-23 (Pixie, Surge, Prodigy, Dust, Hellion, Elixir, Mercury, Anole, Rockslide, ect.)
- Morlun

And a crap ton of older and classic characters to boot.

- Lockjaw
- Any of the Generation X kids other than Jubilee (M, Synch, Chamber, Skin, Husk and Mondo)
- Human Torch (Jim Hammond)
- Aunt May
- Legion
- The Wizard
- Avalanche
- The High Evolutionary
- Mr. Hyde
- Crystal
- Karnak
- Gorgon
- Mastermind
- Graviton
- Atlas
- Mimic
- Phyla-Vell
- Moondragon
- Quasar
- Molecule Man
- The Controller
- Jarvis
- Wyatt Wingfoot
- Trapster
- Swordsman
- Count Nefaria
- The Warriors 3 and Balder the Brave
- Surtur
- Cypher
- Magma
- Moira MacTaggert
- Rictor
- Siryn
- Speedball
- Justice
- Titania
- Feral
- Sage
- Exodus
- The Supreme Intelligence
- Rick Jones
- Firebird
- Any of the Starjammers

And those are just ones that spring to mind. And not even getting into characters who have been made in the MCU but not comic form (Mantis, Baron Mordo, likely the Eternals soon) or ones who were made by ToyBiz and badly need updates (Toad and the Young Avengers).

Hasbro has done an amazing job filling out the Marvel Universe, but in many ways they've still barely scratched the surface.

Trivial Psychic 08-07-2020 07:02 PM

Just got done watching the review for the Riders Punisher, and I'm really not feeling this "pinless" tech Hasbro is using. While it is nice to see some advancements in the bodies, it's really going to make customizing and kitbashing that much more difficult in the upcoming future.

On the plus side...Frank is on the Luke Cage/Hydro Man body, meaning it shouldn't be too difficult to customize it into a non-powered up Hydro-Man. Just a little bit of black paint over the skull and you're good to go...

I will agree that Toy Biz did have some really nice paint apps on their figures, at least most of them.

However, my Magneto had gorilla sized arms, his hands look like he had oven mittens on, his feet were really long, and his body seemed very disproportionate. Silver Surfer had a squished head, really loose knees, long feet, and again, the body was not proportioned properly. I did think the magnets in the feet to connect with the board was pretty brilliant though. Then there is their Phoenix and Dark Phoenix, which just look horrifying. Oh, and Morbius... yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah... about him...

ariellagunas 08-08-2020 01:33 AM

@starlord

Thanks. Yes there are different hands for Shaw and Pierce. The Queens have also fists and grabbing hands for the whip.

@dr Kain

Hellfire set is only out in Honk Knog as far as I know, as their convention exclusive.
My friends bought it and send it to me in the UK.

@evryone.
I think the frostys is Walgreens Tigra. Moon Knight and US Agent are West Coast Avengers, and the Walgreens exclusives seem to be filling that gap.

Dodge76 08-08-2020 04:23 AM

I hope we are getting Tigra soon. Firestar would be cool also. Has anyone gotten their Retro Spidey figures from Hasbro Toy Shop on Ebay yet? Mine has not shipped out yet and its been a week. Kinda nervous.

Mine haven't shipped either, but they've been really slow about shipping. It took them about a week to ship my G.I. Joe Classified figures after charging my card. I know when I bought retro Spidey figures the est. Delivery Date was like 8/17

Good list. Really would be nice to have Cypher to go with Warlock.

I'd add

Firelord
Pip the Troll
Drax
Nebula
Gamorra
Namorita
classic Richard Rider Nova
Marrina
classic Dr. Strange
classic Mordo
classic Dormammu
Morgan le Fay
Meggan
Power Man tiara costume

Hoping some much-needed comic figures accompany the next Dr. Strange MCU wave.

Thy could go crazy on just "civilian" characters.

Man its not legends related really but this made me damn near tear up.

Holy shit that's nuts. I'm surprised they aren't hauled in shipping containers with custom foam inserts on all sides to protect them!

Same- I've got all the Hasbro versions too- but for my display shelf the ToyBiz GG is obviously superior in pretty much every way- even his ball hips work better for having him on his glider.

Starlord67 08-08-2020 01:15 PM

I got my Retro Goblin today (thanks to Arker @Archangel for really fast shipping!)
I feel this figure is geared more toward fans of the animated show with the bright colors and garrish eyes. I'm not sure he will "replace" my Toy Biz version but he will get hung up from my ceiling fighting Spidey.
My Toy Biz version Goblin is one of my favorite Legends figures of all time so he's really hard to top in my book.
Overall though it's a GREAT FIGURE and looks like he stepped out of the cartoon.

MeLikeJinx 08-08-2020 02:40 PM

Found Moon Knight at Walgreens... all I need now is a classic red Daredevil... hopefully we get one on a new body mold some day. As a kid I only liked 90's X-men, Ghost Rider, Punisher, Daredevil and Moon Knight.

No restocks at any Walgreens here. Never saw moonstar, saw one cuckoo box that had a nico repacked with a couple random heads and no moonknight. It seems that if you are an iron man 2020, iron doom or medusa fan you are golden, but anything one might ACTUALLY want ya ass out here. Fuggin blows ass.

It's sad how uneven Walgreens has gotten since 2018, specifically since Reed and Thing hit. Before that, I think pretty much every figure was somewhat easy to find, or at least required the very minimum of work to find it. Since then, it's a crap shoot.

Every other figure on average is a pain in the ass to find. I saw Moonstar once, the Cookoos twice (but one had 2 thankfully), never saw Emma, never saw Mystique. saw Silver Surfer once or twice, but saw plenty of Doom, Magik, and have seen Iron Man the two times I've been in over the last couple of weeks. And it's not just my local area, you hear the same story over and over (though the figures themselves may vary, it's the same basically.) They used to be the most dependable but now they're only a step above Walmart.

Sorry rant over. I'm just getting tired of all these exclusives that the retailers don't put much effort into stocking.
