So I need to ask, but who the hell does Absorbing Man belong to? I mean, I've had this dude sitting in my case for the last several years as he was a Spider-Man BAF, but he's not a Spider-Man villain. I've never even seen him fight Spider-Man. He made his first appearanced in a Thor comic, but then he fought Hulk in that terrible early 2000s movie. After that, he fought DD's father in a boxing match in the MCU, so he's not a Hulk villain there, and he appeared in Agents of Shield as a good guy. Who is he actually a villain to?

I think of him as a Hulk villain, but he’s fought Thor a but, and the Avengers. I sorta see him as one of those “Marvel Universe” villains like the Wrecking Crew or Serpent Society, that everyone’s fought. As I think of it though, he has not fought Spider-Man to my memory.

A Thor wave I'd love to see:

2 different Thors though I don't know what, I just know he'd be a requisite inclusion and likely two different versions of him

Sif, though I'd rather see a Disir as an army builder
Karnilla
Balder The Brave
Executioner
Some version of Loki I'm sure though I'd rather see Gor the God Butcher.

BAF: Laufey the Frost Giant

that sounds like a good wave. As I am reading Jason Aarons run of thor id love figured from that IE Gorr King Thor a re release of unworthy thor with his black uru arm Comic Heimdall Volstag Freyja Build A figure Odin or Roxxon

Trivial Psychic 08-12-2020 07:14 PM

I missed on the order window for War Machine this morning...but was able to use the app to track him down at a Target about 20 minutes from where I lived and pick him up.

Hot damn. All I can say is hot damn. Easy contender for Legends figure of the year so far...

I tend to think of him as an Avengers villain

Agreed. He IS a member of the Masters of Evil

Yep. And Spiderman fought both him & Titania in a issue where they went to the airport to pick up another master of evil member, but Spidey kept them from doing so. It was during the classic "seige of Avengers mansion" story arc.

Bo Ttef 08-12-2020 09:07 PM

grabbed a WarMachine at Target today- not as impressed with him as Trivial. He's not bad at all -arm cannon is a little soft and his Rhodey head is very cartoonish- minor things. But it's just great to have a classic WarMachine on the shelf. Punisher still holds my top spot for figure of the year

Ever since the Earth's Mightiest Avengers cartoon, I have personally placed Absorbing Man in the Hulk villian category. Its arbitrary, since he has really crossed paths with many Marvel heroes, bur its what works for me. Hulk needs more villians in the Legends line anyways.

I am excited for more Legends news on Tuesday! I'm actually assuming there won't be much in the way of X-men related news since we have gotten so much. Maybe Best Of tease or Hellfire goon army builder at most? I am going to guess that we find out more about the Venomized related figures (Are Miles and Gwen part of a wave? A 2 pack?), the Stilt-man BAF wave, or the rumored Gamerverse wave 2 (I suspect the next BAF wave will one of these three, with the next X-men wave being the HoX/PoX theme, but not the next wave this year).

A longshot to me would be confirming any details about that HoX wave or announcing preorders for the Hellfire pack, as X-men are my primary wants!

StuartGreen2019 08-12-2020 10:01 PM

@Dr Kain - The Absorbing Man works for pretty much everyone. He started off as a Thor villain, but he's also fought the Hulk and faced off with the Avengers as a member of the Masters of Evil. Also, he has fought Spider-Man. "The Amazing Spider-Man", vol. 1, #429 comes to mind when he and Titania fight Spider-Man after he's wanted by the Daily Bugle for attacking Norman Osborn.

I don't think X-Men will be the main focus of the Fan First Tuesday Marvel Legends reveal, but I do expect we'll see at least Rogue out of it. I'm still hoping for more Spider-Man reveals, even if it's just one or two more figures.

As a side note, I hope we get a new civilian figure with a more muscular/athletic body mold so we can get alternate heads for characters like Flash Thompson, Eddie Brock and Steve Rogers. More civilian figures for any future Marvel Legends wave would be cool.

CORRECTION: Meant to write Absorbing Man started off as a Thor villain, not a Hulk villain. My bad. In the words of Gene Wilder, "Strike that, reverse it."

lol

So he's pretty much all over the place. I accomplished nothing by asking. :D :p

Seriously though, he went into my Marvel Legends bin since he just doesn't fit with anything I'm collecting. I think I'm going to have to do another purge though because that bin has gotten quite full now. Though, Hasbro's rereleases of the Hulk Buster and AoU Ultron last year dimished their resell value, so I'm not sure how I'm going to list anything I sell off. Probably as just one cheap ass lot again. Also planning to sell off the black and gray Wolverine and X23, among others.

BTW, Serpent Sociey are Captain America villains. :D

Veronica Mars 08-12-2020 11:34 PM

I agree Serpent Society are absolutely Cap villains. I guess I think of Absorbing Man as an Avengers villain because my main memory of him was when he and Titania were part of the Masters of Evil

Regarding the reveal on Tuesday. Jay C of TNI Toy Reviews/Marvelousnews.com says this

but what I do know being revealed,I can tell you is not X-Men related and not a store exclusive

He’s mostly a hulk baddie.

Thor Laserpunch 08-13-2020 04:16 AM

Not sure if it’s been mentioned a million times, but how criminal is it we have had Amora this long with no Skurge?

Now should I put my Brood with X-Men or Carol? And who does Kingpin belong to exactly? The answer is no one fucking cares. It only matters to you. Have Hulk fight He-Man. Go crazy.

Don’t say that. I need him to fit my idealized fantasy version. Just lookin at the pics of his box full of boom pow makes me all tingly.

Gimme that Tigra and sky cycle Hawkeye announcement and Silver Centurion in the next month and I don’t know how many aneurysms of joy might burst in my brain sending me into a catatonic state but Mockingbird redux mebbe? Could happen. Won’t hold my breath on Mockingbird. I feel Wonder Man may be a tad more likely than her. Frosted flakes tweet from Dan Yun must be Tigra or is there something else likely it could have hinted to? How bout classic Valkyrie with the blue dealie with the cape? Iron Man Mk 1? That’s almost kinda too deep to connect to Avengers stuffz mebbe but I would definitely want that and it’s in the realm of possibility with all the Iron Man updates. I think the mk 1 got used in maybe one fight with WC Avengers against Dr. Demonicus but I love the team cover of them on Marvel Age #29 with the mark 1. Not sure how often that armor was used past the 60s.

He’s too much of a manly man to be tied down to just one hero.

Bruce Campbell shoulda stopped with Evil Dead 2. That’s all I have to say about that.

Thor Laserpunch 08-13-2020 04:59 AM

Just got Electro shipping notice.

Q Prime 08-13-2020 07:32 AM

I hope they reveal Gamerverse wave 2.

sh002 08-13-2020 07:55 AM

My Retro Spider-Man case from Dorkside shipped. Mysterio didn’t ship though.

Primitive screwhead...

“Ash Vs. Evil Dead” had its moments as well.

We definitely need comic Skurge. We also need a proper Amora though. She's big, 6'3", using the tiny scarlet witch body for her was a very poor choice

Captain Nash 08-13-2020 08:03 AM

Hellfire CLub in stock is now popping up on ebay, likely bought from international cons but not confirmed. I ain't gonna lie, I nabbed one, as I refuse to miss out on this. I might get another one in September at the normal asking price but we'll see.
