You are correct. Its hard to tell from the panels in the comics if its darker than the cloak or just shadowed.

Mine is in the way. Ordered back in April.

My goodness, AoA which just processed through Dorkside yesterday is out for delivery today. Being fairly local does help but that's even faster than I expected.

So yes, now I will wait for next years product to be delivered in November, despite not even knowing what it is. X-Men related payments and orders can be processed automatically so they don't give away what I'm even ordering. ;)

I'll stick to the classic costume Psylocke- The new version is nice enough but kind of "meh" overall. Betsy wore both so no big change needed as far as I'm concerned- maybe I'll darker up her classic look but even that doesn't feel necessary- Purple matches the UXM#1 cover anyways lol

Fanomex is nice- the larger head makes him fit in better with current figures- but the lack of details like buckles and nicer paint make it kind of a "which one is REALLY best..." decision. You can always swap the heads if you like- same peg, so no worries there

...and Nimrod is just all around cool. I mean, c'mon... it's Nimrod

Do y'all think I'm gonna regret skipping Doom? I have the one from the Super-Skrull wave, and he's everything I want out of a Doom, barring a goblet, a throne, and a scarred, unmasked head. Even then, I look at the new one, and while I'm not sold on him, I'm also not ruling him out.

I still hate that Fantomex has spandex arms with his trenchcoat, those should be jacket sleeves! It just looks like he's wearing a long vest to me haha

Edit: nevermind, that's exactly what it is hahaha

I'll make a pact with you, since I have the same thinking. I won't get it if you don't get it. :p

With all that metal....you need a can opener....or shredder. Haha

StuartGreen2019 09-01-2020 12:19 PM

@Captain Nash and Boy Blunder - Whether it affects your decision or not to buy it, the soft goods collar is removable. I saw a photo of the collarless figure on Page 4 of the "Fantastic Four retro figures" thread on The Fwoosh boards and it looks awesome, although I honestly like both looks.

I do have a question, though - I've seen Doom up for pre-order on Dorkside, Entertainment Earth and Big Bad Toy Store. Which of those works the best in terms of price and having the items shipped/aarive undamaged?

For me it's more the question of "Do I need another Doom". We'll see...

For your question I have had excellent service with Dorkside Toys. But they are fairly local to me so my stuff gets here fairly quickly, except one time years ago, and that was more Fedex's routing system than Dorkside. I haven't had any problems with damaged goods. Their prices are pretty good as well, I try to keep most of my orders through them now unless I am out and see the latest X-wave in person (yeah not likely lately), then I use my right as a customer to cancel. But otherwise, they're pretty good.

I don't recall BBTS or EE being bad either, but since they're not local, I don't order from them any longer.

Not super helpful and probably a lot more info than you need, but I stand by Dorkside.

Dr Kain 09-01-2020 12:25 PM

So the Darkhold and Vishanti books Doom comes with are just repaints of the Hellfire Club book.

En Sabah Nerd 09-01-2020 12:28 PM

@ Bo Ttef,

Could we see some side-by-side pics of Nimrod next to some other big guys like Juggernaut and/or the 80th anniversary Hulk?

StuartGreen2019 09-01-2020 12:42 PM

@Captain Nash - Thanks for the reply, I sincerely appreciate it! I might wait till it gets back up on Amazon for pre-order to get a retro Doctor Doom, or I might pre-order from one of the other sites. I'm still debating that, but since I missed out on the old Doom and I prefer the green paint on this version, I will pre-order it one way or another.

I'm curious to see which characters make the roster if a retro Fantastic Four wave is incoming and if the Hasbro con later this month might show any of them. Personally, I'm most excited to see if any Spider-Man figures get revealed (keeping my fingers crossed for the rumored J. Jonah Jameson, Black Cat, Firestar with Ms. Lion, classic Lizard and classic Shocker). Hopefully the retro Spider-Man wave carries over into 2021, I'd hate to see them stop that wave.

heh- just wait for all the HasLab guys to show up... then it's really shredder time

My 2 sets of Storm and Thunderbird should be coming in around 10/11.

Between Dorkside, BBTS, and EE, I prefer Dorkside. They pack well and don’t charge tax. I’m ok with some delays out of their control as long as I still receive the items within a reasonable amount of time. Their items are often not marked up. All of the extra savings from the total orders helps to buy more toys.

Thanks.

I keep going back and forth on whether I want the set ASAP for full price or if I want to wait and see how much they discount it by the time we get to the different holiday sales in a couple of months. If the initial price had been $70 I'd probably have just jumped on it immediately but at $80 I'm weirdly more hesitant.
