The "new" 6 inch line will need it's own thread. Mattel changed the look to make them look like the Green Lanter and Enter the Batman animated series. In other words Kiddy Based, not for collectors. The line will never make it a year sales will be low and neither parents or collectors will want them, to be blunt they look like Crap. The club is gone and got replaced with Nothing anyone here will really want
I got to agree with that, but this thread could easily just be made into a genaric DC 6" figure thread, which it pretty much is.
Also, as some one said... I think, this is a good chance for DCC to run away with the DC figures. All they need to do is add DCUC articulation and Mattel is done like dinner.

Mattel shot themselves in the foot here. They got 2014 by not having a reasonable Min sub number and demanding a Max. Then Releasing the most uncollector friendly collector line ever. Most of use wont buy them so well end up living in the past buying Ebay or Amazon
Maybe Mattel will be bought out by Hasbrah.
It'd be a Monopoly which is not Legal. As much as they compete to put each other out of business they need each other to survive. No matter what people say Hasbro's not making quality, they are making quantity and are damned repetative putting Iron Man, Spider Man, Cappy, or Thor in every series doens't exactly show dexterous you really are as we've seen with Mattel people dont want the same guy 6-9 times
Sure they do. All about the kids. The fact that Mattel is making a 6" line for kids is... well as you said, shooting themselves in the foot. Kids love the Avengers due to movies and such so 10 different Iron Men will always outsell Batman.
10 Iron Men sell because the whole wave is Iron Man
It wouldn't matter going up against a whole wave of Batman...
Marvels Movie time is now it'll end the Wow factor drops neither company is exactly killing comic book sales the visiual media is big. DC needs to put 3 movies out a year not 1 or 2

Now if you meant it would be down to one company making all the Marvel and DC toys, I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing (and it certainly wouldn't be illegal). Just look at what Lego is able to do because of it. Hell, look at what Lego collectors are able to do because of it. |
