Agreed. We need more 2099 figures. Doom, Hulk, the X-Men, etc. would be nice additions. Also, a new classic Spider-Man 2099 on the retro Spidey body would be cool too.

Starlord67 11-16-2020 05:43 AM

My guess for the BOTBG BAF is Skurge the Executioner. Considering the "Deep Cut" comment he could definitely be the one. Second guess for a more obscure VILLAN would be Gladiator from the DAREDEVIL series.

warmachine6 11-16-2020 05:52 AM

I think it's Modok for the BOTBG BAF if not i'll be suprised

TheBlueMarvel 11-16-2020 06:41 AM

About the Dooms and with the caveat that everyone can want whatever they choose to, I'm personally none too interested in either the 2099 Doom nor Secret Wars Doom. The Secret Wars Doom design - post power grab - just wasn't very inspiring and even Zeck himself didn't seem too engaged in making it look interesting or ornate in any way. I get the nostalgia revolving around one's childhood for the 2099 designs, but, with the exception of Miguel, none of those looks became iconic, with many of them altering from book to book in many cases. Numerous 'looks' of the angsty 90's drew eye rolls even before the end of the decade. I don't hear many calls for Dedato's glam-rocking exposed midriff Thor. But, hey, Members Only/Chippendale Havok turned out better than I thought it would despite the two-pack warming a bit on pegs.

I recall En Sabah, or maybe someone else mentioning God Emperor Doom, which I could see my way to accepting into my collection as (at least) an interesting design ala Iron Man Doom. That said, I'd much prefer some other character in the spot of what would be the fourth (?) Doom in a year and a half. If Doom is being added for 'recognition' or 'sell-through' they may as well add some obscure unrepresented villain because, following the failed cinematic FF attempts, most casuals don't know who Doom is either.

Use the spots to deliver glaring fan omissions like Count Nefaria and Graviton - these characters are pretty easy and necessitate only minimal extra tooling to existing base bodies. Or go left field with someone like Over-Mind. Filling spots with another Supreme Hydra and Doom smacks of squandered opportunities.

Spyne98 11-16-2020 09:11 AM

Seeing how these rumors are calling for a new Dr. Doom of some kind, maybe it'll be a proper Secret Wars style Dr. Doom. Like a throwback to the old school Mattel one.

I agree with so much of this especially the last part, but I also "get it". Hasbro's putting in a bigger name, and what bigger villain name than Dr. Doom, to be the anchor for this wave. Even so, if the leaks are true, that means that the AIM Scientist Supreme and Arcade are the only characters that have NEVER been done before in any outfit or by Hasbro or Toybiz. Granted, Deathstrike is much needed and I won't complain there at all. It would have just been nice to see maybe one more never done before, but we do still have the BAF.

Eventually Count Nefaria and Graviton will get their day, I'm sure. They're only gaining traction in wishlists.

As it is, if the rumors are true, that's only Deathstrike for me for this wave.

I don't know, it's specifically Victor Von Doom, makes it sound like it's probably an unmasked Doom, though Doom at all seems a little sus considering we've gotten 2 this year already

It 'makes sense' to me as well and I also get it. However, I just don't see feeding pangs of nostalgia for Mattel's Secret War line as potentially more lucrative than delivering on relatively routine villain requests. Anyone who knows enough about Marvel's characters and former toy lines that recognizes the nuance of Doom's Secret War duds is also someone that would likely be equally excited by Nefaria or Graviton.

I'm no corporate project manager, but I don't need to be one to be of the opinion that inclusions of this nature (if true) represent misfires. With the addition of some of the usual suspects (Nefaria, Wizard...insert whatever bad guy with multiple mentions) a one or two spot retail pick-up could easily shift into 'all in' on this wave for many of the very same people pining for Secret Wars Doom.

He’s rumored as such. Marvelous News said MODOK is a deluxe figure, and that’s supported by the team’s continual comment of the BAF being a deep cut.

Secondly, I think I might put the gooey tentacle back piece from the original version on him instead of the new one as the one one looks kind of like a shell to me as poosed to just something coming out of his back. I'm not sure. I mean, the new one looks cool, but as I said, it looks like he has a mini turtle shell on his back or something. Finally, I wish had came with some alternate hands like an axe hand or a blade hand. Just something to give him some more display options. I understand why they didn't given he is pretty much an entirely new sculpt, which is utterly amazing, but it means the poses I put him in all look the same. Oh, and I would have prefered them to have retooled the Cletus head for him instead of giving him the head with some pagan symbol on it.

Except that all those design changes are relevant to the recent storyarc(s) that have featured Carnage - this isn't 90s Carnage, it's modern Carnage, which is why the alternate head is a standard Carnage head, and the one packaged on the body is the "pagan" symbol (not a Pagan symbol, actually the symbol for Knull, the symbiote god).

But par for the course here, right?

They coulda included a cletus head with the logarithmic symbol head too. I mean its not like he came with a plethora of accessories. ;)

Yeah, MODOK isn't a household name by any stretch but he's certainly not a "deep cut" either especially since he was just featured as the main villain in the Avengers game.

Oh I figured that, which is why I wasn't complaining about it at all and said they were tiny nitpicks.

Going to limit my expectations a bit just in case, but I'm really excited about the possibility of Lady Deathstrike. Kinda bummed at the teasing of Titania and Viper in the presentation, though. We need all three villainesses in the line something fierce.

I'm down with the "Deep Cut" comment being a pun for a comic Skurge. Though not too excited about all of the extra pieces I'll have to look for if true, Enchantress has looked lonely on the shelf for far too long.

Right? He was quite pleased that his HOX/POX leak was correct. Titania has to be coming, they didn't tool that new female body for a one and done gray Jen

En Sabah Nerd 11-16-2020 09:18 PM

I came across the full Venompool wave at Walmart and picked up Carnage on impulse but I'm going to return him. The unique sculpted body is a nice touch and the butterfly shoulders certainly add to the articulation, but then the overall modern design of having the black parts look like gnarled vines over him instead of that slick goo-like effect combined with his tendrils all having this barbed spiral pattern just really doesn't work for me. I'll admit it's certainly a fine figure but it's just not enough to get me to keep it when I already have the previous two.

I still can't believe Hasbro is really making a Stilt Man. I always considered it to be a... tall order. But I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. In recent years marvel legends have really reached new heights.

MeLikeJinx 11-16-2020 10:00 PM

^ It's true... when it comes to current Legends figures it really feels like the sky's the limit. LOL.

Boogieman4hire 11-16-2020 11:26 PM

Not to mention Frog man. Him finally getting a figure has been a very ribbeting experience.
