While were at it with Lockjaw, how about a line of the Pet Avengers !!! lockjaw, frog thor, ZABU, lockheed, and have a BAF of Devil dinosaur. |
@DonMecca
I would like a redraft of Zabu he looked just "ok" with that Kazar & Shanna set... Lockheed was a cool attachment for Kitty, but he deserves a make over... Devil Dinosaur would be very neat! |

Since my Legends collection mostly consists of Fantastic Four and F4-related characters, I'm aching for updated, cohesive figures of the team. Personally, I'd like to see Johnny, Ben, Reed, Sue (all in modern uniforms based on the Hitch and Eaglesham designs), The Wizard, and The Trapster. I definitely do NOT need or want yet another Doom, lol. Oh yeah, and I'd like a Watcher BAF. EDIT: Well, I might be cool with a new Doom, as long as Hasbro gives us one that has decent articulation and is actually posable. The current ones, both Toy Biz and Hasbro, have the articulation of a Marvel Select figure :p I don't want to open up that whole can of worms concerning the animosity between Marvel and Fox, and while I largely feel as if it is most likely going to be quite some time until we get any sort of new F4 Legends, I don't entirely believe that it couldn't happen sooner. Hasbro has done plenty of things to surprise me, and hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised again soon. |
To be honest, I haven't followed Marvel all that much in the last 10 years, and I especially haven't touched anything since Brand New Day.
What are Inhumans? And what does that have to do with Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver? With that said, tonight I found these two and the Hobgoblin pieces I ordered arrived: http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psvp8qyqic.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pscmbsj0iv.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psqvwysvpi.jpg http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...psnm6gx52c.jpg And here is what I now have in my collection currently: http://i1366.photobucket.com/albums/...pshmqyfsbr.jpg So with that said, here are my thoughts on everything: Cap Am - This is my first ever CA figure and I find him to be absolutely fantastic. His sculpt is amazing and I love the amount of details on him. The paint job is very nice too. Iron Man - Just like Cap, this is my first Iron Man toy ever and he rocks. I do wish he had some additional hands or something though. Hulk - I haven't had a Hulk toy since the old Toy Biz one from like 92. This guy my actually be my favorite of the wave and I'm not even sure why. He can't stand properly, but everything about him just rocks. Hellcat - A pretty cool figure, but her legs are weird. I don't get why they decided to mold her lower legs in blue plastic and paint over them in yellow, especially when they weren't going to bother painting over them with more than one coat. It would have been easier to do her legs in yellow plastic and paint over the yellow in blue. At least they did an excellent job with the bootline. Batroc - I love the gold and purple on him, and his articulation is cool. That is about all I can say though because he has nothing more for me to talk about. Does he not use any weapons in the comics? Thanos - This guy is just awesome. It was well worth getting the wave for him as I love him. Yeah, the skirt does get in the way of being able to pose his legs, but oh well. Amazing, just simply amazing and I think this is the best Thanos figure to date. Hawkeye - A cool figure, but he should have come with either a stand along arrow or a hand with an arrow molded to it. As is, he is just disappointing because he can't really be possed well. 2099 - Obviously what I loved about regular Spidey applies to him since they are the same body. I love the colors they used and I like the web cape he came with, I just wish they would have give him some additional hands or something. Hobgoblin - Since his arm is the only thing I'm missing (one day I'll find DD), I feel I can talk about him. I love him. Sure, he isn't the classic look, but I find him to be awesome. I love his head sculpt and having wings instead of a glider gives him his own sense of identity rather than just being an orange Green Goblin. My only complaint is his hand can not hold his sword. Well, that is all I have for now. I'm loving these figures, and while I am glad to have gotten them, I kind of wish I did not fall onto this path. Thor and DareDevil are definitely on my must get list, but I kind of want Odin, so I might go for the others to in his wave. Oh, but I'm going to skip out on the robotic arm and the helmetless head, as I see no reason for those since the helmet looks badass and I've never seen Odin with a robot arm. Christine - We saw this at the Drafthouse tonight and I gotta be honest, I was not a big fan of this movie. It was kind of dumb, the movie moved way too slowly in the first hour, and the payoff did not really feel like it. Also, outside of the score, it just didn't really feel like a John Carpenter movie. I'm glad I saw it finally though, and on the big screen, but I kind of expected more. Overall, I give it a 6/10. |

They knew how to make Hulks and Iron Man armors, though. Plus I miss their display bases, particularly because a lot of them could also be mounted to a wall. |

Anyway, other people informed me that the other head was Thor, so it makes my decision either. I need to get Scarlet Witch and Sentry. In fact, aside from Thor, SW is my next priority as I'm not going to pick anyone else up until I get her. Guess I should have picked her up last week when I was at Walmart. Oh well. |
^The No More Mutants picture is a reference to the events of House of M. Which was one of Marvel's biggest events. Wanda used her powers to erase the mutant gene from most of the population on earth, leaving about 198 mutants in existence. But this was 10 years ago now. So the number of mutants has changed a bit, what with Hope being born and all that.

If anything I'd say the only down side is that there isn't enough focus on the new Thor in her own series, as the current story is more transfixed on old Thor/Odinson and his quest to find out Thor's identity. Other than that though, awesome story. I could easily see this new Avengers line up (Thor, Ms Marvel, Nova, Miles Morales, Sam Wilson Cap) being made an exclusive boxset at SDCC, although I still hope it's X-related.. |

You know, that's a good possibility that this will be the SDCC either for this year or next year. Which I kind of am iffy about. I don't plan to read the new book (in fact, I'm one of those using SW as a jumping off point for my 25 year hobby). But I kind of do want a Falcap and a SheThor. And I totally can see them being made in Legends format at some point and likely relatively soon. |

I agree that FalCap and Thor would be sweet figures, and very likely to be made soon. Even though I'm not reading it, the prospect of a Khamala Khan figure sounds very cool too. Especially if some extended hands were included! Plus we really need a Miles Morales who looks less like a hunchback and more like a scrawny 15 year-old. |

But what prompted me to this, was even a couple of years ago I thought I'd stop soon because the stories, over all were just not interesting me. The X-Books are a mess IMO and while it's not like we have "the mouse" or "The duck" showing up in the books i can definitely see the effects of Disney acquiring Marvel of late. The total lack of respect of continuity has also gotten to me. The books just aren't like they were back in the 80's and 90's, and it's been a good 10 years since the MU has been "good" to me, with a few exceptional story arcs, one or two extended runs, and a handful of Events/minis. anyways, not wanting to get off topic but i was asked why the jump off. Back on topic, I can see them pushing all the members of the ALl new All Different Avengers and I suspect they'll all show up in both lines formats soon. |
I feel bad for this one...

As for why I stopped reading the comics, Joe Quesada. The man is an egotistical ass wipe that cares more about a sale than an actual story. His ego makes Dan Dido look like a nobody. |
So, I finally broke down and ordered one of those red Deadpool knock-offs. I hope the quality is all right.

Deadpool aside, I stopped reading Marvel a couple of years ago when it became clear that they were going to align it with their movie continuity no matter how forced it was. My exact jumping-off point was when the long lost Nick Fury Jr. was found, lost an eye, went bald to finish the Sam Jackson conversion process, and was immediately handed S.H.I.E.L.D. on a silver platter. I've (sadly) abandoned DC with Convergence as well. Comics are just too damned expensive. I'll buy the Injustice series as it releases in hardcover, and I'll probably keep up with Green Arrow through trade paperbacks if I hear good things about the new writer/artist combo. Other than that... I'm done. |
@et al
I've been getting a kick out of reading many of the posted comments regarding the current state of Marvel. As someone who left the books in lieu of spot trades some 5-7 years ago, my impression is that the Marvel continuum has been abysmal for quite some time. What Marvel needs, other than Disney to stick to its original stance of taking a "hands free" approach to daily operations, is a REAL editor in chief. Someone who doesn't green light every story that comes down the pike in some misguided effort to secure a cash grab. Someone who respects the rich history Marvel has created, while making room for new characters. Someone who tethers characters and stories to meaningful conundrums found in the real world. And finally, someone who doesn't bastardize/cannibalize the books to create symmetry with the flashy success of Marvel movies (canon should remain such - it shouldn't be mutable simply because it doesn't play well with a screen audience). Stan Lee was an egotistical jackass; attempting to steal the thunder/credit for the development of characters created by a plethora of talented artists and writers that he was privileged to work with, but he did do many of the things I mentioned earlier with great skill and success. I have to imagine that an heir apparent for Stan is out there. It becomes a matter of whether Disney will relinquish some of their power to whomever he or she may be. Any REAL editor in chief would need to be empowered to such a degree that they could say no to some of Disney's more destructive tendencies. "Yes men/women" (sycophants) won't right this ship, only someone with experience, conviction, and temerity can get 'er done. Just my two cents... |
Vitamin D deficient Daredevil to the rescue!

Personally, I think Disney is the best thing to happen to Marvel.
Anyway, this seems to be a stroke of luck. I went into the Walmart I saw Scarlet Witch and they still had her, along with Thor and Sentry. My g/f is going to stop at the Target by her work when she gets out because they had Iron Fist yesterday. Pics coming later. |
Sure, the influx of raw cash always bodes well for movie budgets and television shows...crack open some of their books or try to watch their cartoons and you might feel differently.
