Great comparison pictures!

As someone who isn't a huge fan but wants to round out the Avengers, is there a Marvel Legends/Select Hulk figure which is generally considered to be the best? I have a growing comic Avengers collection, but all of the Hulk figures don't seem to be particularly quintessential depictions of the character. Any thoughts?

Not to shoot down your question, but "which Hulk?" has been asked MANY times over the years and is still debated to this day, with the outcome generally always being to go with the one you like (since there are a lot of cool ones out there). To avoid a multi-page opinion parade on it, I'd suggest looking here and choosing the one (or two, a comic and a movie version) you like the best:

http://marvellegends.net/Characters/Hulk.htm

Marvellegends.net has great photos and pages that show almost every 6-inch representation of a specific character, making it easy to compare them all. Particularly with Hulk, everyone has a different preferences for how tall he should be, articulation, sculpt, etc., multiplied twice since folks generally pick a favorite for comic and movie displays. Have fun and pick your favorites.

TheBlueMarvel 04-13-2015 09:04 AM

@VonPooten

Zoffy is right, it's best to decide for yourself. MarvelLegends.net is a great resource, but if you don't want scroll through the photo files...maybe this might help on the 'Legends' side (I don't collect 'Select' anymore):

I didn't add pics of the movie Hulk(s) because you just viewed them and I haven't taken any pics of the AoU Hulk. I threw in some enemies just because...

There are missing variants and some omissions (Mr. Fixit, 1st appearance Gray Hulk, etc) due to my not liking them enough to secure them for my collection.

Obviously, I luvs some Hulk! :D

Captain Nash 04-13-2015 09:18 AM

@TBM wow I had no idea there were so many Hulk figures! Personally, I like the second one you posted best but like several have said taste vary and the debate and choice is such many will say many different things.

But the second one up there definitely has my vote.

TheBlueMarvel 04-13-2015 09:23 AM

@Nash

Yeah, The Incredible Hulk has received a lot of love over the years...and the "Face-Off Hulk" is definitely very near the tippity top of my list of favorites!

Very nice Hulk collection! I just recently started getting back into Hulk figures because my son loves it. I've always liked the Hulk but I had left him on the "back burner" while trying to complete other toy lines. So, my question is you mentioned you don't collect select anymore. What did you do with all those Hulk figures?

Nice use of the MOTU Snake Mountain Stands under Thanos :-)

Thanks for the compliment. Coming from someone with as prolific a collection as yours (I've seen *some* of your collection - very nice job!), that means a lot...well, any compliment from anyone means a lot, but there is an added level of acknowledgement when you've seen the depth and breadth of a collection such as your DCUC stuff...

The 'Select(s)'? I auctioned them off as lots on eBay (reasonable rates - the buyers were pretty happy) along with other 'Select' and 'DC Direct' figs. I sold them all off when I decided to focus on just Marvel Legends and DC Universe. Even though I don't do Select figs anymore, that Exclusive Marvel Select Savage Hulk is very tempting. If I hadn't off-loaded my Select Juggernaut, I likely would have grabbed that one.

Thanks Crow! Those things are pretty cool! I tend to dip and dab in various accessories to accent my figs...and those set pieces had Mephisto, Blackheart, Satana, Ghost Rider, Darkseid, Ares (DCUC), Trigon, Etrigan, and the upcoming (hopefully) Magik written all over them...

Spyne98 04-13-2015 10:54 AM

Damn BM, that's a lot of Hulks! I am still very envious of the Bi Beast. So cool!

TheBlueMarvel 04-13-2015 11:10 AM

Thanks, Spyne! I'm still pinching myself over Bi-Beast! lol

ireign 04-13-2015 12:22 PM

Anyone still see that ML 3 pack at their Targets? I still need a few (if they're below $25) if anyone's willing to help me out! Thanks!

VonPooten 04-13-2015 12:31 PM

Cheers guys for your insight! As I say I'm not a big Hulk fan which is why I haven't looked into a Hulk ML before, but some of the ones you've posted BlueMarvel are great. I especially like the classic Fin Fang Foom series Hulk! He has that quality that screams comic book Hulk. Plus I bet he'd look great in a display!

Not that this is ML, but is anyone thinking of getting the Figuarts Age of Ultron Hulk? He could be a stellar contribution to the ML scale Avengers.

Black Arbor 04-13-2015 01:34 PM

Might've been mentioned before, but is anyone else disappointed with the ML Age of Ultron Hulk's torso? I had him out under some natural light today, and not only is the shade of plastic used for the arms off from the color of the torso, but the texture just doesn't carry over to his new torso. I feel like they could've/should've just remolded the lower torso, and left the upper half unchanged.

The torso is definitely a different color, but isn't disappointing enough for me personally yet to where I feel like putting in effort to repaint it. If I didn't already have the Hulk figure from Avengers 1, I might've been bugged more, but being redundant and 2 per case, I'm like whatever about it. In fact, I'd have sold him and MK43 Iron Man off loose already if I could break even on them, but no one is paying fair pricing for these guys on the secondary (meaning a few bucks off retail cause they're loose with no BAF part). I'd rather keep them in my unwanted fodder pile than take a loss on what I paid.

I noticed it and I find the lack of texture very distracting. It's like he got a body wax job on only his chest/back/abdomen/lower-back...I guess if the ladies like smooth skin, then who's the Hulk to buck the trend!?

I'd be a bit more irritated if I were a 'movie-fig' collector (considering the smaller number of choices) like yourself...I'm hoping they fix it by the time that Banner-Hulk/Ultron/Vision 3pk comes out. Unlikely...

Austinpowers4 04-13-2015 04:55 PM

Howdy guys,

Does anybody know when we can expect the Hulkbuster and Ultron BAF lines to start to show up (online and in stores)???

Probably not until June since the Odin and Thanos waves have come out this month and last month.

Starlord67 04-13-2015 05:31 PM

I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about a release date for the Antman legends or the Amazon four pack. I'm hoping for a bit of downtime for my wallet but I don't want to miss anything. Finally picked up the Thanos wave and I'm waiting on the Shield three pack. Hasbro and NECA have blown my toy budget since before Christmas!!

Btw... My two cents on the Hulk.. The face off Hulk is perfect for my Defenders collection while the Savage "Art Adams" Hulk stands with my Avengers display!! Love artist-centric figures.

Changed my want list #1 most wanted LEGENDS.... First Appearance STORM!!
#2.Polaris
#3 Enchantress
#4.Songbird

Poison Shadow 04-13-2015 05:47 PM

My #1 fantasy Marvel Legends figure would have to be Marvel NOW! Deadpool. That was a GREAT redesign, which is pretty rare. Kept every important element from his iconic costume while doing away with the spandex in favor of a tactical look which actually suits him. An unmasked alternate head would be much appreciated - with the glowing yellow eyes, also from the Marvel NOW run.

An improved Cable would be nice too, preferably from the Messiah trilogy era, similar to the MU release with a removable baby Hope chest piece. While we're at it, maybe a Messiah Bishop too, with the ridiculously large cybernetic arm. Although I'm happy with my bald Toybiz one.

Aside from them... I don't know. The majority of my "wants" list is coming to fruition, which is why I sold off my massive MU collection to start with ML. I love the bright and colorful aesthetic Hasbro has been going with, although their paint apps on the Thanos wave have been atrocious.

Ooh, thought of another! Shiklah. She could include her little pet dragon, or Deadpool's belt as seen on the cover of Mrs. Deadpool and the Howling Commandos. An alternate head with her demon horns would be great.

But, all of these are very unlikely.

Zend 04-13-2015 09:56 PM

My Sentinel arrived..... broken in five places because the seller forced it into a medium flat rate box with zero padding of any sort. The torso piece doesn't stay together because there are 3 chunks of plastic broken off along the seam, and there's two internal peg holders that are broken.

$15 shipping. $15 shipping for it, and they couldn't bother to use bubble wrap or even attempt to take it apart before putting it in a box.

I'm seeking a full refund.

Zend 04-13-2015 10:39 PM

I would also show the box that the seller put it in (fucking flat rate that's barely bigger than the legs and lower torso alone! WTF!) but im too lazy to blur our personal info out.

wolverine2281 04-13-2015 11:18 PM

dubs TF! eBay seller? Have any feedback on him?

Zend 04-14-2015 12:26 AM

Yeah, like 130 positive, no neg or neutral. He's sold other BAF pieces and whatnot, so I don't understand why he packaged this one so poorly. I did notice that the name on the box isn't the same as the seller's eBay page. The name on their page is a man's name that starts with K and the package had the first initial as C and the same last name so I'm thinking it was the sellers wife who shipped it or something.

Still, I'm really mad.
