Splitting down to specific franchises or alignments like that is probably more trouble than it's worth at that point for the people running things. I do get people wishing the Top 10 had a greater non-X-Men presence but it is what it is. I will say I didn't vote for Banshee just because it's extremely obvious he's coming sooner or later (I'd be shocked if he isn't in that listed X-Men Classic wave this year).
Sounds like something's coming next week. https://www.instagram.com/stories/ry...4736545380689/ |

And it probably will continue that way for another 2 years at least. Phase 4 of MCU may end up being a softer push of characters. With many of the the main MCU flagship characters out of rotation (Cap, IM and BW*) or tied to limited movie appearances (Spider-Man) I think that while the movies will do well, there will be less..intensity maybe is the right word?...from the general collector to get figures of those characters. *And I am aware of the Black Widow movie, but that's a one off case and she won't have more appearances more than likely, and the whole situation with that support Legends wave is extremely unique due to timing the wave to try to match the movie's original release date. But basically BW is out of rotation after this one movie does come out. What I mean is while Joe Average may not have known who the main Avengers were, those of us already reading the comics already knew. And now the MCU has used these and told their main stories and is now expanding onto more side-characters. And again, those movies are probably going to do well, but I don't know if there's going to be as big of a push from a Legends collector (who is NOT Joe Average) to really dig deep into those characters. People are always wanting Captain America, IM and Thor - you don't see as many people asking for Shang-Chi, Ant-Man or (Carol) Captain Marvel. But that's what Hasbro is going to push as that's what movies are going to come out. I think it will be a disconnect between what's being offered and what people are wanting. And that will continue to be a problem with future top 10 polls. *whew* all that to say I basically agree with you, maybe it's time there were multiple official polls of at least X-Men, Avengers, Spider-Man and General Marvel which would include Hulk and F4 as I don't see them sustaining a full on top 10 poll on their own for very long. especially one that's not very deep in characters. Your second point about the Spider-Man wave for later in the year and worry about it being MCU based. I completely agree. But it probably will either end up being the case, or that there will be a separate Spider-Man wave somehow. I really hope the Stilt Man wave is not the only comic Spider-characters we get this year. And I'm not talking about shoving the recently revealed white and neon spider-Man figure into that late fall wave and saying "but look, there's a comic character in the wave after all!" :D |

@Captain Nash - Thanks for the reply. For the first point, the Hulk is a tricky wave. Most of the characters are large and would likely be either Deluxe figures or as part of a two-pack. There are different Hulks (classic green savage, Mr. Fix-It, Merged/Professor, Doc Green, etc.) that are too big for the main wave, while smaller Hulks like first appearance Hulk and purple-trunks/founding Avengers Hulk are smaller in height and width to go with "normal" sized villains like Tyrannus, Ringmaster, orange-and-black suit Leader, Boomerang, the Absorbing Man and Nightmare. Hasbro could do a Hulk with a civilian character for extra appeal for collectors, like Dr. Bruce Banner with Gray Hulk, Rick Jones with A-Bomb, Betty Ross with , etc. Or Hasbro could do a U-Foes boxed set. And there are so many characters from the Fantastic Four that need updating and/or first-time figures, it's not even funny. Heck, Hasbro could even do a "New" Fantastic Four boxed set of gray Hulk, Spider-Man, Wolverine and Ghost Rider if they wanted.
For the Spider-Man wave, that's why I'm worried about the second wave: we have 'Spider-Man 3' in December and the new toyline is in the fall. Granted, we could see figures in the first wave of Marvel Legends' 2022 figures in late December 2021/early 2022 January. But still, after how awesome the Retro Spider-Man wave actually was last year, I'd really love to see more comic-based Spider-Man figures instead of, say, Tom Holland Spidey, Alfred Molina Doc Ock, Jamie Foxx Electro, possibly Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire Spider-Men, and then two comic-based figures as possible figures as the majority of the wave (even though I'd buy all of those in a heartbeat, if my wallet allowed it). And let's put the Usual Suspects wish-list villains aside like Chameleon, Sandman, Lizard, Rhino, Shocker and so on. There are other fan-favorite characters fans want to see get new figures too, like classic Kaine, Stunner, Shriek and Carrion for "Maximum Carnage" collectors (and a better, bigger Doppelganger, but still...), Cardiac, the Spot, the Rose, Tarantula, Man-Wolf, Molten Man, Overdrive, purple-and-blue suit Boomerang, Swarm, Morlun and Mr. Negative. That's not counting the various Spider-Men and Spider characters, like Madame Web, Spider-Woman (pick one -- there are a lot of them), Ezekiel, Web Armor Spider-Man, Octo-Spidey, Spider-Lizard, Spider-Hulk, first appearance/Steve Ditko era Spider-Man, John Romita Sr./Gil Kane era Silver Age Spider-Man with the original chest emblem, a new black costume Spider-Man, the Amazing Bag-Man, Todd MacFarlane era suit Spider-Man with the big eyes, the Slingers, and so many more. I am hopeful we'll see more classic/Retro villains like Chameleon, Doctor Octopus with bendable wire tentacles, Sandman, Rhino, Shocker, the Hobgoblin and so on. But if we got, say, Morlun and/or Mr. Negative instead, I wouldn't be surprised since they're long overdue. But it'd be nice to have at least one or two new A-list "classic" villains included this year. |

Spider-Man Wave 2 is almost definitely a movie wave. The movie may ultimately wind up being delayed, but as of right now it's still tentatively being eyed for a late 2021 release (the fact that it's a Sony movie and not Disney might also mean it'll keep its current spot even if Black Widow is pushed back and further delays Shang-Chi and Eternals). The figures are planned out well in advance so any tentative Spider-Man wave we're already hearing about would be taking that into account. Unless there is a secret third Spider-Man wave we haven't heard about.
As for the Top 10 list and the worries about the lack of non-X stuff, again while I sympathize, I think people are putting a bit too much emphasis on how much impact the list has. Like I said, at least some of these are almost definitely already planned (in fact in the last livestream they mentioned that sometimes the winners are characters that were already on the docket anyway), and we know they pay attention to board chatter. Just look at the New Warriors we've been slowly but surely getting. With the exception of Firestar they weren't setting the lists on fire (no pun intended) and have no media support, but that hasn't stopped Hasbro from digging in and releasing them. I mean, nobody was asking for Spymaster and most of the Serpent Society characters would also rank extremely low on a popularity poll, but that didn't stop Hasbro from making those either. And our first wave of 2021 kicked off with Stilt-Man and Frog-Man, of all people. Hell, we're supposedly getting Darkstar and Guardsman in the Iron Man wave this year, so it's not like these lower tier characters have no chance without a poll. |
Just curious...why do so many people honestly care about the results of this Fwoosh poll? The amount of investment, and analysis that this thing receives every year is ridiculous. It's not like it directly effects Hasbro's figure waves going forward....
|
The following figures I want that made the fwoosh top 10 list, honorable mentions included.
Tigra (Classic) Doctor Strange (Classic) Wolfsbane (90s X-Factor) Avalanche (Mystique's Brotherhood) Toad (Classic) Banshee (Giant-Size X-Men) Blob (Mystique's Brotherhood) |

I don't see 90's X-Force Domino on that list... I wonder if people are satisfied with just using the Deadpool wave version for their X-Force display... I always liked Domino with her funky 90's swept back bell shaped hair.
|
I personally prioritize new characters over redoes of ones we've had before in different outfits, so Rictor took my X-Force vote this year.
|
Classic Dr. Strange is a strong candidate in my book. The Into The Spider-Verse Prowler uses the same torso as the previous comic book Dr. Strange figures. And since the arms on the new Prowler are a loose fitting shirt instead of muscles, Hasbro could easily reuse the upper arm for Dr. Strange.
All they would need to make are the belt/lower shirt and the forearms. |
Doctor Strange has a new movie next year so that might bump him up on the list for a comic redo before then.
|
My Spider-Man votes went for, the three Enforcers and Romita Jr Hobgoblin, but I really want a classic version of Shocker.

That being said, I started cutting back pretty hard on Legends in 2020. For 2021, I'm trying to stick to this plan: X-Men- all in. Spider-Man and street level characters- I like building up the villain roster, but I have almost everyone I want so I can be picky. The same can be said for heroes. Avengers (and other assorted Marvel teams)- Big name villains and characters who fill in holes in teams only. Again, being picky. Cosmic characters- the mid 2000's Guardians book really fostered my love for the cosmic stuff so it's hard to say no to those characters, but I feel like so little actually get maid so I can buy them when they pop up. And that's about all I'm buying these days. With the Stilt Man wave, I'm just getting 2 hand ninjas and the BAF. Luckily, a friend of mine ordered everyone else and he's giving me the BAF parts. I have the whole HoX/PoX wave on preorder, as well as MODOK and Thanos. I'm waiting to see what the Villains wave brings and if I'll be able to skip people there. I want that wave to do well so we keep getting waves like that, so I might just buy it all. Who knows, haha. |

I'm pretty much only interested in completing 90's teams at this point. The only reason I jumped into Legends was because once the Juggernaut BAF wave hit I was confident Hasbro would complete the 90's X-men Blue and Gold Teams... and they did. However I don't have the same confidence that Hasbro will complete the other era X-men teams like AoA or the more recent X-men stuff.

After reading all the comments, may I add my two cents (which are two cents more than my opinion is actually worth ;) )...
- Agreed that classic Doctor Strange is overdue. I'm honestly surprised Strange hasn't been made yet. You could make the argument he's being saved for the inevitable Dr. Strange sequel Marvel Legends wave, but his movie suit is his comic suit. Unless his sequel costume gets completely changed to a different Dr. Strange comic costume, why would you make two Dr. Strange figures that are basically the same with some obvious differences in terms of appearance and paint? - My mentality isn't "collect them all", it's "collect who you can find if you can afford the figure". Being perpetually broke, I've missed out on a lot of Legends. Of course, it doesn't help that I never could find/buy figures like the Walgreens Fantastic Four characters and the Warlock B.A.F. wave Jim Lee Cyclops. Heck, I almost missed Retro Spider-Man if my sister hadn't pre-ordered it. This is why I think the "I have everyone I want, I don't need (X) character made in a new figure" isn't helpful for Hasbro to read. Yes, you found/bought (X) character. Congratulations. I'm genuinely glad you have the figure in your collection and display it proudly. But there are a lot of collectors who either missed it the first time or are just now collecting as a new collector and has to wait for a new figure because the current one is ridiculously over-priced on Amazon and Ebay. - I would love to see more teams completed. I'm thrilled Excalibur is on their radar and more New Warriors are always welcome. Namorita, Justice and Speedball would be fun. I'm also hoping for more '90s X-Men re-releases like Cyclops and Jubilee due to missing them the first time around. I'd also love solo figures of Colossus and Jean Grey in their '90s Gold Team uniforms, and a new, better Iceman. Then again, I'd take more new figures of X-Men from the '70s, '80s and '90s. However, I draw the line at goggled Beast from the early 2000s. That look was horrible. - Going back to my personal favorite of Spider-Man, I'm hoping that Hasbro doesn't make two movie waves for 2021. If they do, that's why I'm hoping we get more Retro Spider-Man stuff. I'm all for new figures of characters who haven't had figures before and 'Spider-Man 3' would be a great way to include the much-requested Tobey Maguire Spider-Man figure fans have wanted. But if that means Wave 2 is mostly movie stuff with two or three comic characters, that'll be very disappointing. I guess I'm spoiled after the Retro Spider-Man wave, but WOW that was a great wave. It was easily my favorite Marvel Legends wave of last year. And when you have a six- or seven-figure wave and fan-wanted figures like Chameleon, Armani suit Doc Ock, Sandman, Lizard, Rhino, Shocker, Tarantula, Spot, Shriek, Morlun, Mr. Negative, black costume Spider-Man, Web Armor Spider-Man and many others are making fans' wish-lists, it's going to be a long wait before we get to these characters. - I can't wait to see what will get displayed in their Toy Fair alternative. I'm actually most excited for Fantastic Four and am curious to see what Classic X turns out to be. I also hope the rumored Lady Deathstrike is part of the Bring On The Bad Guys wave. Since toylines like Classic X, Retro Fantastic Four and Spider-Man Wave 2 are not until the fall, will Hasbro skip those for now or display one or two figures like they did last year? - I can't believe I forgot to list Betty Ross with Harpy or Red She-Hulk in my Hulk figures examples post above. Of course, I'm also surprised nobody caught it or told me. See? My posts ARE terrible and should be ignored by all! ;) I hope you all are doing well and have a wonderful day. Stay safe, everyone. |
^ Your collecting habits are very close to mine... I never order stuff... I only buy stuff that I see in person and that I can pay with cash on hand... however I will buy scalped stuff at local shows or LCSs if I deem the item to be a necessity... like I paid 40 bucks for Beast at a toy show the same weekend I found every other figure from that wave except Beast at retail... Beast was a must have figure and I wasn't taking any chances on missing him, but I had to offset that scalper price by not buying other stuff that I would have or getting rid of some stuff. I consider Walmart exclusives or Online exclusives lost causes and don't even try to get them unless I see them at a toy show or something. Target exclusives are like 50/50, but I have like a 90% success rate at finding Walgreens exclusives since I live right next to a Walgreens. LOL. Passing on the live action X-men stuff is so hard, but I am committed to just the comic stuff only.

@StuartGreen2019, I hope my comments didn't come off as a "you missed someone, sucks for you" kind of statement. I am happy to see that Hasbro will rerelease and/or update characters. It's very hard to get into a toyline if you can't have your basic look for some iconic characters. I've somewhat accepted the fact that I might be buying a basic Spider-Man or Captain America every few years for the rest of my life, haha.
@Archangel, glad to see he's showing up. I'll keep my eyes open. |
Rektangular is doubling down on Marvelous News’ report that the “X-Men Classic” wave is a second AOA wave. If true, I’m disappointed as I don’t collect AOA, and am also skipping much of the HOX wave. That’s two straight years of “themed” X-Men waves in place of a standard catch-all wave like 2016-2019. It also contradicts recent statements from the team during panels saying that they were done with AOA for the time being, which is curious.
Not much else that we haven’t already heard from the new video, just reiteration of existing rumors. Only other new nuggets are that Riders Hawkeye is still happening, and that there’s a new Spider-Man 2099 being released in some capacity. |
