|
New Rektangular video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dRdk7-x0lU He says the X-Men Classic wave is AOA wave 2 and Rider Hawkeye is still coming. |

They said they originally wanted Apocalypse as the BAF of the first wave so they were implicitly saying more were planned.
I'm fine with it. Money saved in an otherwise expensive year for me! |

I think wonderman would make a good candidate for a deluxe fig that has the red coat, red sleeved arms and a sunglassed head and also bare arms and long haired head so that way we could have either version on the shelf. :D |

With the nineties Avengers, I can compromise on Black Knight (although I’d argue they should do the jacketed look, since the parts are there), but I would like a classic Hercules. |
@Spyne98 - No worries, bud, I know what you meant with your post. I only meant I've seen my fair share of posts where fans sound like they're complaining that (X) character is getting an update and that they're basically saying Hasbro don't do it. Of course they're going to do it. It's necessary for new collectors. I still think that at least every two years they need to have re-releases/updates of main characters everyone knows and buys, like, say, Captain America, Iron Man, She-Hulk, Spider-Man, Storm, Thor and Wolverine. That way, you can change up the costumes with versions everyone knows and loves (black costume Spidey and original purple suit She-Hulk one year, classic red-and-blue Spidey and F.F. suit She-Hulk the next time, etc.) and give fans the chance to buy the figure they wanted that came out years before they started collecting. And I agree with you, I've long-since accepted the fact I'll be buying updated versions of my favorite heroes and villains over and over. (That is, if I can even find them the first time around.)
@Ultra Seven - I'm not an "Age of Apocalypse" fan, so I'll be passing on that wave. If that's true, I'll be disappointed. At this rate, I'm hoping 2022 gives us some more classic X-Men and Spider-Man characters. The first waves of X-Men and Spider-Man for this year didn't appeal to me. Ironically, the only figure I want out of the X-Men wave is Moira MacTaggert. I prefer the 60s/70s/80s/90s era of Marvel. My cut-off point is the Civil War/One More Day nonsense that made me stop buying their comics. @hasbroherofan - Thanks for posting the video! If the Spider-Man 2099 figure rumor proves to be true, I wonder if that be in Wave 2 or as a Retro figure? Also, if he's part of Wave 2 in the fall, which code in the Wave 2 list do you think he could be? I'm still hoping Sandstone is actually Sandman. And if we do get the Riders figure of Hawkeye, does this mean the rumored classic U.S. Agent will be happening too? @Hasbro - Ant-Man, the Hulk, Thor and Spider-Man all have their 60th anniversary next year. "X-Men: The Animated Series" has its 30th anniversary next year. Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" film turns 20 next year. Y' know... if you didn't already, it'd be cool to have Marvel Legends plans for any of those anniversaries next year. *cough* |

Count me in the "thrilled" for more AOA figures crowd.
I mean of course I'd love to be getting Shadowcat and Banshee at some point soon here, but if it's not a huge difference if it's 8 or 14 months, which is probably when this wave and the first X-Men wave for 2022 will drop. But seriously. They need to be made by no later than next year and really should try to squeeze them in this year somehow. |

Also, is anyone else wondering if Marvel Legends have any plans to do something with Captain America? I know we got that Marvel Comics 80th anniversary figure in 2019, but this year is Cap's 80th anniversary and it'd be a shame not to see any Legends figures for our Star-Spangled Avenger this year. |
US Agent was apparently a mistake in the listing.

Teasing for an upcoming Gamestop exclusive.

If anyone is looking to offload any stilt man parts let me know, I picked up Frog Man and he's the only figure in the wave I really want

Looks like that Gamestop exclusive tease was just a joke because of everybody going crazy over Gamestop stock now.
Also watching that Rektangular video made me sad... can't believe the only 90's-ish X-men we are getting this year is Lady Deathstrike... not even a Banshee to show us some pity. At least we got the Black Widow wave out of the way though... just imagine if they had delayed that wave too. I commend Hasbro for trying to complete teams though and not do just a one-off wave... except that X-men movie wave is probably a one-off, but at least AoA isn't. I remember reading a rumor over Fwoosh that Bishop and Stryfe were in the next Retro X-men wave... I wonder if that is true or not. I really hope Rektangular is right about them re-releasing the OG Spider-man 2099... I didn't really care about that figure before, but after playing the PS4 Spidey game both 2099 costumes became my favorite Spidey costumes. |
I mean lets be fair to the AOA fans here, 2 waves are hopefully good enough for them, to get a completed x-men team, hopefully the last. I dunno.
We'll probably hear some news after the starwars team have done their pulse event so like in FEB ? At this point in collecting anything i can pass on is a win |

I'm with Captain Nash. I'll take more AoA figures. I don't expect them to make everyone from that series, but I'll gladly take some more heavy hitters. Like Sabertooth, Cyclops, Havok, Nightcrawler Abyss, Mystique, Gambit and a new version of Holocaust. Did I just make a wave? Haha

And for gods sakes Hasbro no Wolverine. Also adding in Rogue, you left her out Spyne! They gotta make a Rogue. Cripes You also left out Magneto LOL. Him too. |
For AoA, If Hasbro could at least make Magneto, Rogue, Cyclops, Sabertooth, and Bishop, then they've pretty much covered the truly important characters. Everyone else would be a bonus.
Personally though, all I ask for 2021 is Byrne/Cockrum Banshee, that's all. |

Agree on Banshee, I'd like to see both Jim Lee and GSXM versions of course eventually. |
I think the main problem I have with the AoA wave right now is there's too many figures left to make. If you have a second/possibly final wave for it, you're bound to make fans unhappy with whoever the roster is. I know that everyone wants Rogue, Magneto, Sabretooth and Cyclops (and rightfully so) and you have to include Bishop given his role. But who would the last two spots be? Whoever is included, you'll get disappointed comments out of it: "We got an A.O.A. Magneto but not A.O.A. Quicksilver?" "No Storm? No Mystique? Just Rogue? Just one female character out of a new seven figures wave?" "I can't believe Sinister was left out! He was important to A.O.A.!" Get where I'm going with this?
Granted, they could always do more A.O.A. figures in solo releases as Fan Channel exclusives or put two or three A.O.A. figures in a future X-Men wave, but would that be acceptable? I'm all for more figures of a wave that everyone loves and wants more figures of, even if I myself don't like it. I'm curious to see what Hasbro does and who makes the cut. That said, I'm disappointed the Classic X wave isn't X-Men Classics. I was hoping for the rumored Bishop, Stryfe and sold-separately classic Magneto for retro card releases. Toss in any version of Banshee, another female figure in need of a new non-Jim Lee uniform figure (Rogue, Psylocke, Jean Grey, etc.) and the inevitable Wolverine variant and that'd be fine with me. Ah, well. Maybe next time. I'm still hoping Hasbro surprises us with more classic X-Men and of course more classic Spider-Man figures this year. Time will tell... |
