It seems as if there are two listings each for Iron Man 1 and Avengers 4. Hopefully its a safe assumption final battle Thor will be one of the Endgame slots but I wonder who else? I wish The Ancient One could be one of them but even with her appearance in Endgame I don't see why you wouldn't list her under Doctor Strange. I want the Thor 3 item to include Miek! The Spider-Man listings look interesting too. Could "movie legends 3" be implying a 3pack of all 3 movie Spider-men? And while I don't collect Spider-man figures myself, I do think the retro wave was excellently executed last year so I'm intrigued who else will get the Spidey retro treatment. I like the suggestions of more civillian figures. If ever there was a time to do an Aunt May figure I feel like it is now. |
Yesterday, I saw Dan Yun's photo Tweet of Marvel figures he displayed. I replied to his post that, even though they weren't clues, that I'd love to see Retro figures for Lizard and Shocker (since the Toy Biz Spider-Man animated figures are displayed in the photo) and he Liked my Twitter post. On the Fwoosh, someone spotted the Toy Biz Spider-Man animated series figure of the Hobgoblin held in Venompool's hands.
That got me thinking: do we know three of the rumored five Retro Spider-Man figures? We got TV listings for 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. So, if we do get new figures for Lizard, Shocker and Hobgoblin, who would the other two Retro characters be? A civilian character and an ally? Two alternate Spider-Man costumes? Two more classic villains? I really hope Doctor Octopus and Sandman are two of the upcoming Retro figures for this year. Classic Sandman is long overdue and everyone knows I'd gladly give Hasbro all my money for a new classic Doctor Octopus with bendable wire tentacles. |

I believe that 3 & 4 did indeed turn out to be the Target exclusive figures. Which is interesting, because it indicates that the figures could deviate from characters/ looks inspired by the series despite the “TV” listing (which means I can cross my fingers for a new Sandman). Literally everyone you have listed would be top notch. May & Flash would be fabulous, as would Harry Osborn (I’d like Robbie, but I know that he’ll never happen). My dream boxset would be a Daily Bugle with Robbie, Glory, Betty, Ned, & Eddie Brock (and maybe a different Peter). If they do Chameleon again, I’d be curious on if they went with the animated look or the smoking jacket. Either way, it would be obliged if they included more alternate heads like the last release (maybe that’s where we could get Harry or Flash). Despite them not being my favorite characters, I think Hobgoblin & Chameleon are my most-wanted releases due to their potential to give us bonus characters. |

I do hope Sandman is one of the new Retro figures. Also, having a new classic Sandman on the Retro Toy Biz "Spider-Man" animated series packaging would be a dream come true since he wasn't allowed to appear on the Fox Kids animated series. I'm hoping for more civilian figures. I could see Harry Osborn as a possibility and maybe they could have an Eddie Brock with a Flash Thompson alternate head. I too would love a Joe "Robbie" Robertson figure. Maybe they could do a civilian in a two-pack with a villain? Like Aunt May Parker with Doctor Octopus, J. Jonah Jameson with the Scorpion, Joe Robertson with Tombstone, etc.
With the Hobgoblin, I'd love to see multiple heads and there are a lot to choose from: Ned Leeds, Flash Thompson, Lefty Donovan, Jason Macendale and Roderick Kingsley all come to mind. Maybe he could be a Deluxe release? I'm also hoping for "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" figures, but I wouldn't count on those till around 2024 when the show has its 30th anniversary year. Still, animated versions of Scorpion, Mysterio, Doctor Octopus, Kraven the Hunter, Rhino, Shocker, Venom, Hobgoblin, Chameleon and more would be a dream come true. And animated version of civilian characters like Peter Parker, Aunt May, J. Jonah Jameson, Felicia Hardy, Flash Thompson, Harry Osborn and Mary Jane Watson would be awesome too. |

Two packs would be a fantastic way to sell civilians. Alternate parts is a cool way to knock out multiple people. I’m fine fudging bodies if it gets us more characters. How about Curt Connors with Bruce Banner alternate parts?
If they did Hobgoblin as a deluxe figure, they could also include a ton of different pumpkin bombs, and a stand for the glider. Again, there’s so darned many characters I’d like to have. Maybe the animated waves could be a place for primary characters, and they can use the BAF waves to keep getting us people like Frog-Man or White Rabbit. |
I hope that the primary characters aren't just for the Retro wave. After all, we need some fan-favorites to balance out at least one main Spider-Man wave. That said, though, I could see Morlun or Mr. Negative as popular recent figures for a Fall 2021 or for either of the 2022 waves.
If Hobgoblin did get a Deluxe release, I say go all in. Pumpkin bombs, razor bats, a new classic Goblin glider, detachable smoke effect for the back of the Goblin glider, a flight stand for the glider, a classic Hobgoblin head, a shadowy Hobgoblin head with just red eyes, a demonic Hobgoblin head, and two or three civilian heads. Jason Macendale and Roderick Kingsley are a must and I could see Ned Leeds being a possible third alternate head. They could technically do the same for the Green Goblin and giving him his classic John Romita Sr. era costume with the subtly-scaled sleeve arms and pant legs and alternate heads for Norman Osborn, Harry Osborn and Dr. Bart Hamilton. Personally, I think a Deluxe Mysterio would be cool too, with alternate heads for Quentin Beck and Daniel Berkhart. I agree, there are so many characters I'd love to have. Personally, I'd love a two-pack of first appearance Spider-Man with the Burglar and a three-pack of classic Kaine, classic Stunner and Armani suit Doc Ock with an alternate "Mark of Kaine" head and bendable wire tentacles. I'd even take a new '90s clone suit Spider-Man with an alternate Ben Reilly head. So many figures, so little shelf space... |

I’m kind of surprised none of the figures from the Bad Guys wave have sold out on Pulse by now. Usually 1-2 are unavailable after 24 hours.

The weather warmed up enough that all the snow melted and I could finally leave the house. At some point in the week my local Walmart got the Stilt-Man wave in but all they had left on the pegs were Peter, Prowler, and Frog-Man by the time I got there. However, I was looking for Prowler and Frog-Man so it's a win. Prowler handles way better than Peter and Gwen, probably because his proportions aren't so thin, and he looks really cool but I also really wish he had more stuff. Alternate claws-out battle hands are the obvious want since as is he just has gripping hands but nothing to hold (unless you give him Stilt-Man's case), and then I also would have appreciated an unmasked head since all the other Spider-Verse figures in this wave have them. Frog-Man was never a character I had on my wants list but I think I always knew I'd get one if they made him because I have a fondness for frogs. Not only did Hasbro make him but they did it surprisingly well. The body is a clever re-use of Doc Ock and they mostly concealed the tentacle ports with his backpack. The head and feet then seal the deal and really make him stand out as a simply nice and fun figure. |
@Archangel - I can kind of see why none of them have sold out. Half of them aren't well-known A-listers and those that are popular have something about them fans aren't liking.
- Arcade is a cool X-Men villain, but he's not really well-known outside of comic fans. Lady Deathstrike is known if folks saw the movie 'X2' or the X-Men animated series, but she's the one I'm actually surprised isn't actually sold out considering what a magnificent job they did on her action figure. - I still say Battleworld white suit Doctor Doom was a mistake in timing, especially after everyone bought and praised the 2020 wave figure and/or the current Retro Doom. I get that Doom is an A-list classic and arguably one of Marvel's greatest villains, if not THE greatest Marvel villain, but another villain should've taken Doom's slot. - A.I.M. Scientist Supreme is like Arcade -- most folks won't know who he is. And if you're talking about Bring On The Bad Guys and folks wanting figures like Mephisto, Abomination or even a better Loki, if you put an A.I.M. Scientist Supreme in there, that seems more like a shelf-warmed choice. - The Red Skull is probably the most recognizable to folks next to Doctor Doom, especially thanks to his Marvel Cinematic Universe films. But I feel this should've been in last year's Avengers waves instead of this year's B.O.T.B.G. wave. Also, I've read some posts where fans aren't liking the grinning head and there isn't really anything new about the figure to make it look that different from past Red Skull figures. - Dormammu is cool and he's a long time fan-wanted character, but I've read some posts where fans said they don't like the head and change to the fire colors so they're passing. And if mostly comic book fans are buying these lesser-known characters as Marvel Legends figures, it's important to make sure they look right. - The Hood is still generic civilian figure in a cape. This is not the version of the Hood fans wanted to see and, again, that's only to comic book fans who know who the character is. Is anyone shocked a screaming nobody in a plastic hooded cape is not sold out? Anyone? ... Bueller? Bueller? I think the Bring On The Bad Guys selection from Toy Biz's Marvel Legends was much better. We got Green Goblin, Abomination, Pyro, Loki, Lady Deathstrike and Blackheart. Here, we've got... A.I.M. Scientist Supreme, civilian guy in a hoodie, and Doctor Doom 3.0. I'm not saying the figures are bad, but I think if they do make a second wave, they really need more well-known villains and for them to actually look well enough so that core fans won't pass on them. |
Agreed in all counts, it almost makes me want to cancel some of those preorders knowing much of that wave will be on discount in the future.
Hopefully they don’t make the shortsighted decision to scrap future all-villain waves...more chances for us to finally get an Exodus figure. |

I agree with you, I do want there to be a second wave. That's why I hope the second wave has more popular A-list characters that are more well known to comic fans and non-comic fans alike. Everyone knows who Loki is. Everyone knows who the Green Goblin is. However, not everyone knows who the Hood is or who Arcade is. Those might be tougher to sell for Hasbro without a Marvel movie or TV series for them to go find out who these characters are. |

I'm actually happy about the Bring on the bad guys wave,
I was able to get a red skull at a decent price but will be displaying him with the normal face, I wish they added black paint here and there lady deathstrike is one im glad i waited on as well as the aim scientist supereme. I can see why fans of dormammu are annoyed by the fire they have 2 concept arts on the packaging show a yellow flame rather then red to yellow. I think in every wave you're not going to have every character you want. Sure you could have all of the A-list villians in one wave but mixing villians up with A-D list villians works out better for us getting that obscure villian and a potential of a second wave due to not getting that other A-list villain this wave. I would love to see more villian waves |
I hope that they do a reissue of the first Spidey retro wave before moving onto the second one, since I don't want to buy Spider-man villains without the guy himself.

Personally, I'd love it if they did that figure in a deluxe pack with a Romita Sr paint job and included several different hands, a stand, and web accessories. |

The BOTBG wave gets me thinking about if they were to do a wave for 2022: would love to see:
Deathbird (obligatory female figure), Blackheart (as the nod to the original wave), Mandarin and Dr. Octopus as the higher profile villains, Count Nefaria, Graviton and Executioner. BAF: Mr. Hyde. Granted, if the wave doesn't sell well, they won't likely repeat the theme, which is a shame. It's great to get a bunch of villains. The issue is that as great as all but one of the figures is, and in fact four of them are brand new characters, their highest profile character, Doom, has had 3 other versions in the last 18 months. I get they would want to have released this version as some point but I do wish they'd gone with some other high profile character. And I swear if he's also in the F4 retro wave (despite having a retro figure already) I'll scream. |
@warmachine6 - I realize not everyone is going to get who/what they want in every wave. However, for the Bring On The Bad Guys wave, I still think they needed to add another A-lister or two, especially after all the negative comments I keep seeing for the Hood and yet-another Doctor Doom.
@Dr Kain - I would LOVE a Deluxe classic Spider-Man! I'd really love to see the classic 60s John Romita Sr./Gil Kane chest spider emblem included with the spider's legs out at the sides. I love all your accessory suggestions too! I'd also love a wavy-lines spider-sense accessory, open hands for wall-crawling poses and a new Peter Parker civilian head without glasses that isn't half Peter/half Spidey. @Captain Nash - I would buy your Bring On The Bad Guys wave in a heartbeat. I think Count Nefaria and Mandarin have to be coming sooner rather than later and Doctor Octopus is need of a re-release or new figure given the current price of the 2018 Ock figure. I'd still love to see Constrictor get a new figure too. And don't worry, I'm 99% sure we're not getting a new Doctor Doom for the Retro Fantastic Four wave, especially after the Fan Channel Retro Doom we got. I couldn't think of another Doom that would technically work for the Retro F.F. wave if they do in fact make the blue-and-white Negative Zone costumes for the F.F. I'm more curious to see whether we get a Negative Zone suit of Johnny Storm, half-flamed on like the Toy Biz figure, or as the Human Torch. I'm also curious if Invisible Woman will be visible, half-visible or completely invisible. I'd rather see new villains like the Wizard, the Mole Man and Annihilus than a fourth Doctor Doom. Also, if we don't get Fan Channel versions of Fantastic Four characters like the Amazing Bag Man, F.F. suit She-Hulk and trenchcoat and hat Thing, then what's the point? ;) Also, did anyone else see Dan Yun's reply post to C.B. Cebulski on Twitter about the Sugar Man figure? Mr. Yun wrote "I hope we get the chance to make more Age of Apocalypse figures". Is that a hint that we're not getting a second A.O.A. wave as rumored? I guess those Classic X rumors of it being a second Age of Apocalypse wave might be false. |
Another use of Doom was inevitable since they spent a lot on that body...I actually have a bigger problem with the immediate Retro rerelease than this one (since at least God Emperor Doom is a new look with some new parts).
I sympathize with those disappointed with the wave, but I do agree that this is an area where inevitably someone was gonna walk away upset that their fave wasn't finally given a figure. That's the case for most ML waves, if I'm being honest. My motto is, as always though, patience. They finally knocked out a much-needed redo of Deathstrike and a lesser known fan favorite that nonetheless has had a lot of people asking for in the form of Quasar. I personally would've vastly preferred Baron Strucker over another Red Skull, but it is what it is. It's a big universe but if you're not seeing your character of choice Hasbro will more than likely get to them eventually. |
I need some help. Is there any customizer or someone who has a Frogman head lying around that they can sell me? Mine fell off the shelf when I was out of the room and my dog chewed up the head. He's been one of my favorites and it agitates me to look at him.

I would be really happy if that turned out to be true about the AOA figures. There’s tons of X-Men figures I’d like, and more AOA characters are not among them. |
