I think it was said in the Godfather "Everytime I try to get out, They pull me back in." my 3 year old cousin is into Monster/Ever After High. At least I can justify it as not Action Figure side. BACK ON TOPIC I was in Target no sign of Total Heroes maybe my local stores won't order them. If thats the case the Fat Lady better start warming up.

Yes, it was. And I believe it was in the last godfather.....

snake5289 01-27-2014 09:45 PM

There was a space for them the last time I was at Target but there weren't any on the shelves.

Over the weekend I saw Total Heroes Batman & Superman figs at TRU. I wasn't looking for them but they were plenty of them and my son really liked them so I purchased both for him. They were 10 bucks each. I also went to Target and Wal-Mart but I didn't see them anywhere else other than TRU.

RKillian 01-28-2014 05:16 PM

I'll be really surprised if Total Heroes breaks the 20-figure mark even with Batman variants.

I'd be surprised if Mattel even shows off anything DC related at SDCC this year. Well, outside of their upcoming cheaply made quarterly figures and Doomsday.

RKillian 01-29-2014 06:28 AM

I think even 10 is optimistic but they've got 7 or 8 out already so it's not entirely out of reach.

Speaking of cheaply made, does anybody think the last 4 non-Doomsday figures are going to have some stupid problem like blastic?

Dr Kain 01-29-2014 07:22 AM

Someone on another board made an improvement on their SUperboy:

I've always said by SDCC the series will be dead. and by the time Superman/Batman comes out Matty won't have the rights. You might see 4 Horsemen do them direct (which would be cool) or Hasbro eventually end up with them

trebleshot 01-30-2014 08:42 AM

If you really think one toy line is going to make or break Mattel's relationship with DC Comics, you really haven't thought things through.

Mattel doesn't use their DC master license just to make action figures.

He's still crying over the sub not going through. Nothing he says has much logic to it.

CMIII 01-30-2014 10:33 AM

The end of the License I think it's going to be a Mutual split Mattel has basically cancelled every DC Line there are only so many times that can happen before the Parent company gets tired of it.

I doubt Hasbro would pick up DC by then since they have Marvel until I think 2017 or 2020 or something like that (as well as Star Wars)

I don't feel a company's going to want to make more figures like DCUC for a number of years. If Mattel doesn't keep the licence someone will for the movies, at least, but maybe more if Justice League blows up.

Alright, what else do they use it for?

CMIII 01-30-2014 01:39 PM

I picked up Classics Kid Flash does any one else version have a weird bulge on the Tricep?

Rattrap Primal 01-30-2014 03:47 PM

why can't Mattel make the DCUC figures using either bucks similar to MOTUC or the WWE Elite bucks (WWE Elite figures are far more poseable than DCUC)

CMIII 01-30-2014 05:11 PM

from what Scott said "To expensive" to simply recycle the same bucks over and over as they have done since 2006 because he claims you need to spend over $300 a person to make 13 figures. Believe me man it's just a Load of B/S.

Hot Wheels, Barbie, Little People, Geo-Trax, Doodle Pro, Rev 'n Go!, Shake 'n Go!, Power Wheels, Apptivity, and all kinds of role-play toys.

I'd also add Imaginext, even though technically they are action figures (but certainly not at the DCUC "Adult Collectible" level).

So how many toys have you made and how much did it cost you to do it? Aside from that question, your entire post makes no sense. Not only did you misunderstand Scott's explanation of the costs for the CIE sub, but you didn't even answer Rattrap Primal's question.

CMIII 01-31-2014 07:57 AM

It's to expensive thats his go to answer

CMIII 01-31-2014 08:11 AM

It's to expensive. The short version.

Not fair to compare one person to a billion dollar international corporation. I have been working on doing it and so far it looks like the bulk of the cost is in the tooling. The figures themselves are actually pretty cheap to produce. What's difficult, for a person, is having enough money to order enough figures to overcome the tooling costs without pricing the figures out of reach. You may get them for a buck each but you have to buy 50K of them...in a country where the median pre-tax salary is $50K. Again, though, you're talking one person making one fully-tooled figure. If you reuse tooling on the scale that Mattel does, sharing 3 bodies across 10+ figures, the explanations that they throw out at us start to fall apart. But you'd have to dig a little deeper than 99.99% of people hanging out on forums do. I used to think maybe licensing was a big cost but there's so much licensed garbage and so many wasted licenses out there that some of them must cost 5 box tops and a self-addressed stamped envelope...

Tiberius 02-03-2014 12:54 AM

I think Mattel is just paying to much for their goods. Somehow Hasbro is able to give us great Marvel Lines, and charge a fair price, but Mattel just can't seem to figure it out.

So they are either

A: Greedy motherf*ckers
B: Paying to much for mediocrity [designers, plastic, whatever else]
C: Big stupid doo doo heads
