Also found the Target Clone Wars figures. To round this all back to Legends, I made Walmart honor their pricing here... https://i.imgur.com/t4anHzT.jpg |
Got my Deathstrike today, super excited to trash that horrid first release. I'm saving most of my toybiz legends as an grittier alt-universe type of thing, but whoooo...not her. She's probably just going to get trashed.
If I'm thinking correctly that leaves Viper, Dr. Strange , Mandarin and Banshee as the straight up redos I badly to see done. There's some others with different outfits though, and some that I want redone but still hold up well, like Toy Biz Angel. But yay for getting a fairly high profile X-Men villain done, time to move on to Mystique's BOEM and the Acolytes, Hasbro! |
Surtur looks great! I'm personally not getting one, but he's neat looking. If they did a comic style one at about that size, I'd really dig it, and I'd most likely buy it.
I'm glad to see people are finding Major Bludd, I think I'm about to get out of that Joe line. Finding them is such a pain in the butt. They might end up in my sale thread. If anyone is looking for any, feel free to reach out. I don't have everyone, but I have a good number of them. |
Apparently a full second wave of retro Spider-Man figures are coming. Oddly, the listed figures differ from those we’ve already heard about (Hobgoblin & Symbiote Spidey), which I would guess would be coming as Fan Channel figures. The wave line-up is supposedly:
- Chameleon - FF Spider-Man (Bag-Man or Future Foundation, probably) - Uncle Ben - Jack o' Lantern - Kraven - Carnage This is an odd line-up, if true. Carnage is odd, but makes sense with last year’s Doom double-dip as well as how quickly the Venompool wave Carnage sold out. Jack O’Lantern is a funny choice, especially over say Lizard or Shocker. Still cool, though. Kraven makes sense, hoping that he means a new Ock & Sandman are close so that they can finish rereleasing the Sinister Six. Uncle Ben is funny too, particularly without any rumor of an Aunt May. But I can’t imagine them not making her if they do make Ben. Hopefully either he or Chameleon will come with some alternate heads to fill out more of Spidey’s supporting cast (Flash & Harry jump out as wants for me). |
What happened to the Lizard and Shocker rumors?
|
I'm stuck in bed with a migraine, but I had to pop online long enough to comment and say this about the apparent second Retro Spider-Man wave: WHOO-HOO!!!
The line up is a curious one, but I love it. I'm surprised the "confirmed" Black Costume Spider-Man and Hobgoblin listings from a few months back didn't make the roster. Maybe they're Fan Channel releases? I have no idea what this means for the likes of Sandman, Lizard, Rhino and Shocker, who were rumored possibilities. This is very smart on Hasbro's part, as the first Retro Spider-Man wave is my favorite Marvel Legends wave to date. All of the figures from the Retro Spider-Man wave have just impressed the heck out of me. I have no idea which suit Chameleon could end up getting, whether it's the smoking jacket, suit and tie, or even '90s animated series suits. As long as we get two or three civilian heads for Chameleon, I'm all for it. I have no idea which FF suit would be for Spider-Man. I missed out on the two-pack of Kraven, so I hope he gets his classic suit colors, and if they gave the normal figure feet for Carnage with an alternate Cletus Kasady head, I'm ready to buy both! Jack O'Lantern is also a welcome addition, as I don't remember the last time he got a figure. Maybe they'll use the black cat figurine from the Retro Black Cat action figure for Jack O'Lantern as a nod to Maguire Beck/Mad Jack. Just speculating. Now for the big one: Uncle Ben. Is this a civilian figure or his alternate reality Spider suit? If it is a civilian, which I'd prefer, I would imagine that Aunt May isn't far behind. I'm surprisingly excited to see what Uncle Ben looks like, as I'd buy a figure or two of him. Since Spider-Man turns 60 next year, along with Ant-Man, The Incredible Hulk and The Mighty Thor, I'm expecting big Marvel Legends plans. Maybe next year we can get a third Retro wave and we can finally get figures for characters like Aunt May Parker, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Shocker, Web Armor Spider-Man and classic Scarlet Spider. Time, and Hasbro, will tell. Have a great day, everyone, and stay safe. Back to bed... ugh. |

Rhino must be a bigger figure than the Build-A-Figure of him, as big as the SDCC Hulk figure.

Amazon just canceled my Lady Deathstrike preorder for no fucking reasons! I preordered it the day it went up so this is utterly inexcusable!

I also noticed that there isn't even an option to view 'Open Orders' anymore on the Order page. Edit: At this point, I'm wondering if they got some shipments of the wave and it turned a few figures to 'in stock' status rather than preorder before running out. |
Surtur has me thinking how cool a Destroyer in the same scale would be.
|
I won't stop buying from amazon but I think I will stop preordering. They canceled AIM scientist and Lady Deathstrike on me too.
I wanted to switch my preorders from Hasbro Pulse to amazon for the Ursa Major wave because the price is slowly dropping. But there's no point if it runs the risk of being canceled. |

On those TB redos don't forget Dragon Man, Blackheart, Destroyer, 90s Cap Britain, Toad, and the Young Avengers. Not sure if you were referring to TB, Hasbro, or both on the redos, but Viper was a Hasbro fig and I'd throw in Doc Samson, Madame Masque, and Titanium Man. |
It's insane to me that in the 13 years they've had the license Hasbro still hasn't remade the Hulkling, Wiccan or Patriot.

I think the barely articulated Destroyer figure that came with the first Thor movie toy line is a decent starting point, though its shorter than the existing Legends scale MCU Ultron, who was apparently 7'7" in his Prime body. Granted, I think the Destroyer's overall height in the first Thor movie varied between scenes. Though that could just be the odd perspective shots the film used. I kinda wonder if it was initially meant to be a lot bigger than the 'official' stat. Considering the comic Destroyer changed size depending on a number of factors, its hard to really tell how big it should be. At least the comic version has the Marvel Selects release. |

That Spidey retro wave 2 line-up is really surprising... there is four villains... all of them have been released before too I think. Also no Black Spidey or classic red Daredevil either to anchor the wave. I am getting really impatient about Daredevil... I am tempted to just buy an armored DD for a placeholder on my shelf... at least he comes with an unmasked head for future usage.

I believe the gang over on the ToyMigos podcast and YouTube channel stated that the Black vintage Spider-Man night be slated to be a Loot Crate/Marvel Box type exclusive. There was some sort of listing somewhere that hinted at it, but was pretty vague...and the promo pics look like the 5POA style, so take that for whatever you will.

I'd love it if they got Retro releases or something. We could also use: A new comic Hela. Fearless Defenders Valkyrie using the new She-Hulk mold. 'modern' Guardians of the Galaxy comic versions Modern Ghost Riders - Danny, Johnny, Robbie, Alejandra, Vengeance Comic Black Order (all of them!) America Chavez MCU Ancient One, Wong, and Kaecilius Comic Mordo Agents of Shield - May, Coulson /'Sarge', Quake The Warriors Three MCU Korath, Malekith, Kurse, Amadeus Cho Daken Blue Marvel Comic Killmonger Absolute Carnage Red She-Hulk Dark Avengers set Morgan Le Fay Immortal Hulk / Immortal She-Hulk Symbiote Miles w/ 6 arms and the Knull face. Knull |
Amazon cancelled my preorders for Lady Deathstrike and Dormammu. Super irritating. I have had really bad luck with choosing where to preorder from lately. Dromammu and Doom are in stock at Dorkside if anyone needs them right now.

On another note: The villains wave is very satisfying. Deathstrike is fantastic as are Dormammu, Red Skull (placid face ftw), Doom, and the Scientist Supreme. While I'm happy to have Xemnu, I wish they'd done a little more. Not sure what exactly, but it feels a bit undistinguished. Arcade's spare noggin has definite panache and there is attention to detail there - interesting Adam's apple - and the Hood isn't as deserving of the pillorying it received on reveal, but neither character is very important to me. |
