Well for one thing, Holocaust will probably have to end up as the build a figure for Wave 3 of Age of Apocalypse anyway with these figures.

Havok
Bishop
Scarlet Witch/Wanda even though she died right away in X-Men Chronicles #1
Abyss
Gambit
Storm
Age of Apocalypse regular folk: Gwen Stacy, Monk Cain Marko and Peter Parker

Dr Kain 05-27-2021 03:52 PM

Well shit, Pulse is sold out on some of the figures to preorder. BBTS wants $170 for the wave, so fuck that shit. And I see no reason to even bother preordering from Amazon when they'll just cancel it anyway. Guess I'll have to hope I can find these in stores as easily as the first wave.

Boogieman4hire 05-27-2021 04:25 PM

I'm so excited they're making Tigra.

WallySparks 05-27-2021 04:36 PM

So when in Fall 2021 are the Age of Apocalypse Colossus build a figure wave supposed to be in Walmart etc?

August or September?

Sorta.
Tigra is sorta furry.
That close up pic shows sculpted fur on the shoulder and elbow, but the bicep is smooth. It makes it look super weird.

Pete was actually dead in the AOA timeline, so not so much him.

Gwen did feature in the side story, along side characters like Tony Stark and Donald Blake, but I'm not sure Hasbro is ever going to dive into that well until well after the actual AOA X-Men have been completed if even then.

I kinda wish aoa had gone on longer as four issues was not really enough time to get too into the characters. I will say nate grey was my favorite character to come outta that whole series but he gets treated like the red headed step child of marvel.

There's always that revist they did 10 years later. If you read it you would see it only went downhill after X-Men Omega, and fast. I absolutely love the original AoA but that anniversary miniseries was complete crap.

TheBlueMarvel 05-27-2021 05:51 PM

Tigra, Legion, Sabretooth, and Colossus.

Who's ready for their third Spidey 2099??? Opps...sold out already on Pulse!

While I'm happy for Tigra, I was really hoping for a more curvaceous sculpt to match my mind's eye of the character's look throughout the years. I know saying as much might be unpopular, but it's ok to represent something other than a waifish body type. I'll take what I can get, but I think a week or two after I get it, I might start calling for a new Tigra to be released. She could also use a tad more in the way of musculature. After all, she is as strong as Spider-Man, Beast, and 3/4's of the Wrecking Crew.

Edit: in looking at the photo again I do think Greer is appropriately muscled. I'd still prefer her to be better proportioned and curvier.

Nate had a great run, though, his series was a favorite of mine for a while back then.

Problem is he was another wayward displaced Summers child, and Marvel has shown that writers after awhile just don't have any idea about what to do with all of them anymore.

Yeah, best to skip that one and go straight to the Uncanny X-Force story for more AOA.

The Battleworld miniseries wasn't bad, either (and I like the idea that God Emperor Doom made Apocalypse his own special AOA world in the hopes that Apocalypse would in turn leave the rest of the worlds alone).

When you say 4 issues, you mean four parts for each comic, right? Becuase there are A LOT of different comics. I mean, the main story takes up an entire omnibus while they had to put all of the side stories into a second omnibus.

I really enjoyed AoA for the most part. It had a lot of great ideas and did Flashpoint right.

Shinzero02 05-27-2021 10:33 PM

I never could get into AoA (and X-men at length outside of specific arcs) because it kinda hammered home how X-men's villains basically go ignored by the rest of Marvel unless it is specifically a mega-event that utilizes them. Like they exist in some sort of pocket universe where no one notices the giant genocide robots until they walk up to Xavier's or where giant threats like the Phoenix force and Apocalypse are so mutant-centric that they only crossover with the rest of Marvel when there needs to be conflict between hero groups or major events. Nevermind how much effort is put into maintaining the whole mutants being persecuted for getting superpowers naturally thing even after the universe has literally been recreated.

With AoA in particularly, I'm kinda surprised such a relatively short arc has such a huge fanbase considering it wasn't meant to be something that lasts and was literally a throwaway timeline.

I mean, I'll definitely check out some of the figures in the wave once the final physical sculpts are shown but I think I would've preferred to get 616 renditions of some missing X-men characters or even Gamerverse characters like Captain America - Sharon Carter from Marvel Future Fight, or the Agents of Atlas. Maybe a 616 Shadowcat, Calypso, Maggot, Banshee, 'modern' Mystique, Angel, etc.

Agreed. And I think most people would have preferred no texture at all.

Hoping for an alternative head. I picture her with a solid luxurious mane, not strands flying all around. Not too keen on the face either. I don’t think I’m going to get rid of my old one even though everything about the limbs is horrible.

Boogieman4hire 05-28-2021 01:37 AM

Honestly when it comes to Tigra I'm just glad she doesn't have those Superior Venom feet.

That's a very good point. I suppose the arms and legs will be reused for Feral and Wolfsbane

larryw3158 05-28-2021 04:41 AM

When and where is Tigra supposed to be available?

A lot of that breaks down to editorial mandate, as they wanted to keep things separated for status quo. Just like how Spider-Man couldn't be an Avenger, the Avengers didn't fight Sentinels and the X-Men didn't fight Ultron. It's just how it was, although nowadays you do have some writers like Jason Aaron, who worked on X-Men and now Avengers titles, will now occasionally write a few stories about say Thor fighting Apocalypse.

And I think AOA remains popular in the same way that Sharon Carter Cap is going to be popular for the new generation: When these "What If?" concepts work, they really work.

Not trying to undermine your (well-explained and reasonable) point, just trying to be a smart-ass. ;)

Which sorta reminds me, would anyone else want smaller, more silver/ early bronze age Sentinels? I think they’d be cool.

Of all this Tigra talk, I gotta say I agree with Blue Marvel. The digital render’s not really doing it for my mental image of Tigra. From the picture Dan showed on Twitter it does seem like the sculpted figure will look substantially different, so hopefully I’ll like her better when I see the prototype. Particularly curious about the alternate head, since the headsculpt is the thing I like least about the new figure. If there’s a classic headsculpt, I’ll be over the moon.

To weigh in on AOA, not a fan of the story, not a fan of the designs. Easy pass from me, really happy for all the story’s fans how much love it’s getting. Wish my pet favorite stories/ eras were given such attention.

Edit: hadn’t really noticed it until now despite owning/ having read the issue, but, what the hell is Hawkeye wearing?

A dress. And arrows for days bro.

Usually Wasp is the one wearing some ridiculous shit I’ve never seen.

Tigra’s continuing a trend of figs that are just off enough to annoy me. It’s cool though, not like I’m dying to complete a proper Avengers WC this decade or anything. Still pissed the rumored Legendary Riders Hawkeye never materialized.

Captain Nash 05-28-2021 07:40 AM

I would like some smaller silver/early bronze age Sentinels for sure. I also have to agree about Tigra, I was working while the livestream came on so I missed it, but was excited to hear about an update coming. I'll still buy it so the figure looks more in line with recent Hasbro legends, but it's not really what I would have ideally wanted either and just like others, it's the headsculpt that's throwing me off. Classic Tigra headsculpt would be great.

I wonder if she's going to be a fan channel exclusive like Hercules and She Hulk. I'd love to see a dedicated comic wave this year, but honestly between those three, Quasar, Nova, and some of the BOTBG they're actually putting out enough figures that would show up in an Avengers wave anyways. Except we've not see a OG Thunderbolts characters like we have the last three years. The team is halfway there, let's get Atlas, Meteorite and even Techno out, though I'd take the more long running modern Fixer instead of Techno.

Thor Laserpunch 05-28-2021 07:59 AM

Isn’t the Fan Channel stuff usually straight up repaints tho? I was under the impression the Avengers figures like Tigra and US Agent were to be Walgreens exclusives based on something I vaguely remember hearing last summer.

It was the concept of my favorite X-Men villain conquering the world becuase Prof X died before forming the X-Men that got to me. I believe it was the first time Marvel had ever done an actual universe where the bad guy had won, at least one that was more than an issue or two and meant to be the main Earth.

Plus, as far as I'm concerned, AoA is the final season of X-Men.

As for your other comment, I don't see how that matters. I mean, the DC universe has actual man gods living in it, and yet, they still have other heroes even though Superman and Supergirl could pretty much do anything and everything. Like why do Batman and Green Arrow need to exist if Superman can just do their jobs within 30 seconds?
