Does anyone have any idea on the scale of this figure? I'm guessing it's a 5in like the toybiz figures were

That's a much better suggestion than my Zemo comment...

Lol I do think there's a strong possibility that happens.

hasbroherofan 06-04-2021 12:31 PM

They literally had a whole bit about the Hood representing angry collectors so they're definitely aware when people don't like something.

That's the route I'm going- old man Logan jacket (and maybe arms) might patch up the holes a bit but i kind of think MM is more dirty and ratty looking... already ordered a cheap spare from ebay

^Exactly this.

Better stagnant and out of the way as a boxset on Amazon, than peg-warming every store shelf and taking the place of a better wave in stores. Anyone who thinks these figures would actually move on their own at retail is simply fooling themselves.

I know and agree that it sucks that you can't just get that one figure that you want, but this has been the way of boxsets for years and multiple toy companies.

At least now the figures/characters exist in some capacity for those that want them and still give room for another possible X-wave or Vintage figures in the near future.

Quick thoughts:
- Assuming my dedication is correct: why in the hell is Excalibur an SDCC set? That’s four recognizable characters with high demand for all of them. That set would do well at retail, certainly better than whatever the hell this is.
- Why the hell is this an Amazon set? What a bizarre group of characters. And having to get all of them to get the couple you want... hard pass. I wanted Callisto, but not enough to buy four figures I have no use for.
- Boy is this going to go on discount.
- And once again, what the hell?

On the bright side, following the trend of every other amazon exclusive, it’ll probably be on and off clearance for the next 3 years.

What a great theme though: disappointing mediocrity. The prophecy has been fulfilled. Hopefully the packaging will be an ass so you can pull these five figures out just like Hasbro did.

I'm really going to need those new Blob and Toad figures released so I can finish The Pryde of X-Men Brotherhood

Bo Ttef 06-04-2021 02:35 PM

Lots of hate for that set but I'm pretty dang stoked for it. Other than Omega Red (which will at least give me some head options) these are all characters I've wanted to see- yep, even that Wolverine that will look awesome crucified on a giant X... Another Hellfire Club member with a spare head that is pretty easily bashed into a Brotherhood MM... Callisto (actually never thought that one would happen) and FINALLY Cyber... Yeah- I'm paying full price for it and when it does hit Deal of the Day I'll be buying another for parts. :P

As for non-bladey, retracted hands, you should try the extra hands that came with Moira. To my eye they are nearly, if not exactly, the same skin-tone.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will do that.

Starlord67 06-04-2021 04:46 PM

That Sherlock figure is great but kinda pricey. You could always mold a cape on the suited body with Apoxie Sculpt over a saran wrap buffer so it would be removable.

Found an ebay listing that puts him at 5 1/4in

Probably just slightly too small

Mimicboy 06-04-2021 06:37 PM

I finally got to see some remnants of the Disney+ and Bring on the Bad Guy waves at one of my local Targets. No Lady Deathstrike or Scarlet Witch though. I wish I had the funds to pre-order the Lady Deathstrike as I feel she is going to be harder to acquire in the wild. Same goes for a second Scarlet Witch. Just this weekend I started working on my custom cape and hood for her so I am hoping to find another soon.

I really like everyone's enthusiasm for customizing a Brotherhood Mastermind! While I am still feeling like the Wolverine set is too far out of my price range for now (especially if I get a chance to buy an Excalibur pack which I would want way more) and thus a bit of disappointment over Mastermind and Callisto, I am happy overall with all of our May reveals.

AoU Quicksilver, Legion, AoA Shadowcat (who I am going to custom into a Lady Mastermind) are all pre-ordered and are gonna be great. Plus having something to hunt for in Lady Deathstrike is fun.

My current Top Ten after all these reveals:
AoU Wanda
Shadowcat (Excalibur)
Psylocke (Outback Armor)
Wiccan (Modern)
Hulkling (King of Space)
Mimic (Exiles)
The Ancient One (MCU)
Scarlet Witch(All New All Different-Kevin Wada)
Dr. Strange (classic)
And
kind of a trick answer but
Brotherhood of Evil Mutants 3 pack:
Blob, Avalanche, Destiny

Toad has to be in the pipeline. He's the only remaining original Brotherhood member now Hasbro hasn't done in any capacity.

Given next year is the line's 20th anniversary and he was one of the very first ToyBiz figures ever done, I think there's a good chance we see him.

Veronica Mars 06-04-2021 07:10 PM

My top 10

Siryn
Longshot
Banshee
Feral (they have to be planning to use Tigra's limbs for Feral, Wolfsbane and maybe Thorn)
Speedball (hopefully reusing the Cat accessory for Hairball)
Rictor
Namorita
Hulkling
Wiccan
Spiral

I'll definitely support a Brotherhood 3 pack with Avalanche, Destiny and Blob, and maybe a Toad and Mastermind 2 pack. I would love to see the last two members of Team Carnage, Shriek and Carrion too

This picture gives me such feels!

And a huge yes please to a Spiral!!! I guess she didn't make my top 10 cut but she is still a top ten X-men want. Spiral totally checks all my favorite boxes: female, villian, X-men, and magic user! Rictor, Syrin, Monet, and a deluxe Iceman would probably round out my X-men top 10 wants.

I am curious to see what they are gonna do to celebrate the 20th anniversary.

Benn Roe 06-04-2021 08:57 PM

My list hasn’t changed much, though Lady Deathstrike’s excellent new figure made a little room.

Bishop (Uncanny X-Force)
Chamber
Destiny
Dust
Exodus
Magik (New Mutants outfit)
Psylocke (Outback)
Senyaka
Spiral
Tempo

hasbroherofan 06-04-2021 09:35 PM

Having finally gotten MCU Quicksilver, my current top 10 is looking something like this:

Lockjaw
Rictor
Psycho-Man
Unstoppable Wasp
Echo
Armor
Wiccan
Hulkling
Miss America
Prodigy

I would love a Monet with swappable Penance parts

Dr Kain 06-04-2021 10:22 PM

I think my X-Men top 10 is now:

Banshee
Blob
Avalanche
Destiny
Deathbird
Lilandra
Brood
Wolfsbane
Feral
Siryn

Though, I feel like I'm forgetting someone. It's not Mesmero, though he just misses my top 10.

I wouldn't mind a Marauders box set. It would be great to get a classic Sabertooth along with Malice and a few others.

StuartGreen2019 06-04-2021 10:44 PM

Nice picks, Dr Kain, and I hope you had a Happy Birthday.

If I had to do a Top 10 Marvel Legends list, my picks would be:
- Captain America [classic scaly chainmail uniform with a smiling head based on John Byrne's art)
- Cyclops [Jim Lee/'90s uniform, without the bomber jacket and with a new red optic blast accessory]
- Doctor Octopus [green-and-orange costume/"Death of Captain Stacy" era with all-new bendable wire tentacles]
- Sandman [classic, completely in human form with normal arms and legs, and alternate sand weapon hands accessories]
- Mary Jane Watson [first appearance clothes with a smiling head sculpt based on her first appearance panel by John Romita Sr.]
- Daredevil [classic red costume]
- Hulk [Deluxe classic green savage with a neutral head sculpt, an angry alternate head and a boulder accessory]
- Spider-Man [Silver Age/John Romita Sr. red-and-blue costume with the classic spider chest emblem, an alternate Peter Parker head without glasses, a "wavy-lines" spider-sense accessory and alternate open hands for wall-crawling poses]
- Scarlet Witch [classic red-and-pink costume without the metallic paint and new hex bolt blast accessories]
- Captain Marvel II [classic Monica Rambeau]

If I had to pick a Build-A-Figure, it'd probably be Stegron. Build-A-Figures were never really important or appealing to me, as I prefer the Deluxe bigger figures. I'm still hoping we'll see some anniversary waves next year (such as the 60th anniversaries of Ant-Man, Hulk, Spider-Man and Thor, 30th anniversary of "X-Men: The Animated Series", and 20th anniversary of Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man' film), but after the, so far, lack of 80th anniversary figures for Captain America this year, we'll see what happens.

Sataninjaku 06-05-2021 12:01 AM

Meh, I preordered it. If anyone needs an original Omega Red now or "put on a damned shirt" Wolvie later, hit me up.

Veronica Mars 06-05-2021 02:53 AM

I'm definitely on the fence about the box set, I would like to get Cyber and Mastermind, but I have Omega Red, and not to sound full of myself, I think my custom Callisto looks better

Spyne98 06-05-2021 04:54 AM

I personally like the box set, even if Omega Red seems like a waste of a slot. I pre-ordered it. I'm wondering if there will still be a vintage X wave this year. As much as I love the old Blob, Toad and Avalanche, we really could use new ones. Throw Destiny in there too!
