I'm sad that Hickman is seemingly leaving the X books after the Inferno book he's writing. I'm hoping that without him, things like X-Men, X-Force and Marauders stay fun. We'll have to wait and see I suppose.

Hellions is an absolutely hilarious treat to read. Definitely my favorite book at the moment. I dropped Excalibur after X of Swords because I just couldn't connect with the writing and pacing.

I don't think Hickman is leaving the books after Inferno, I think this is solidifying the second act that is being set up with the Hellfire Gala. I'm very excited to read it.

Hellions btw is making me want figures of all of these characters. I never thought I'd want a Nanny and Orphan Maker figure but damn...

His story is a bit suspect and he butchers Iron Heart's name pretty badly...but YouTuber MCE (who does mostly unboxing and toy hunt videos) managed to get his hands on the Ursa Major Wave...which means we might be seeing it on the shelves much sooner rather than later...

^ I saw his toy hunt video... his local toy shop that he always goes to had the whole case with the box number and everything. Florida usually doesn't get stuff first I don't think though. Crazy all these figures are coming out and nobody has seen Nova at a Walgreens yet.

I never trust a man making that "I just shit my pants" face in a YouTube thumbnail...

usernamedustin 06-06-2021 08:51 AM

Easy pass on the Wolverine 5-pack. I'm not spending that much for a Wolverine I don't need, a duplicate Omega Supreme, and some figures I was on the fence about just to get Cyber. I was thinking of getting Win-Grade to put a Shaw head on the body. Like Veronica Mars, I prefer their custom Callisto and my own to the official version. I really just want the knives.

Rearranging some shelves.

With Excalibur looking more and more set to be whatever they call the "Summer Con Exclusive" box set this year, I really need more Freedom Force and an Outback Betsy. I am still strangely content with the old Longshot figure, but I would instantly purchase an updated one.
The upcoming Domino and Cannonball give me hope that Feral will show up relatively soon and it is guaranteed Wolfsbane would follow. Hasbro will either do both or none.

Then I'd just be waiting on a classic Dr. Strange.

This is totally rumor and speculation, but the going theory is that the Nova shipment is at the bottom of the ocean.

I really can't get into Hellions. I want to like it. I just don't like the goofy characterization Sinister suddenly has as part of Dawn/Reign of X, and that seems to have set the tone for the entire book. There are gags I like, like the relationship between Greycrow and Empath, but overall it's not my favourite title. I didn't like Wolverine and the X-Men either, though, and I know that was a popular title at the time.

TheBlueMarvel 06-06-2021 09:18 AM

@Triv

Thanks, that's the news I've been waiting for.

Edit: How this dude stretched that to an hour...I don't know how people watch these things between the cartoonishly annoying voices to the weird jokes and awkward personalities. The world is becoming You-Tuberized and Twitch-ified.

@usernamedustin

Nice shelves, but I'm most enjoying that Silvestri-era Colossus. Great work, another fig I'm surprised we haven't received as the character rocked that look for a minute during a pretty iconic run.

Edit: ..I'll also be using the Mastermind body with Sebastian's head and I too prefer your Calisto to the version I've ordered...oh well, maybe one day I'll use kitbashing to prolong my interest.

tierneygreen 06-06-2021 11:54 AM

I have a similar thing going with my Marvel Select Colossus since the shirt(?) can be removed. I need to figure out a belt now.

As for reviews, the only reviewer I can tolerate is Robo at The Fwoosh. He's fairly chill, and sometimes even droll. Still, I've pretty much stopped watching Legends reviews altogether. By the time the video posts I've seen enough promo pics to know if I want the figure(s), and in most cases I've likely already pre-ordered. I also don't need their obligatory rundown of articulation, as that's usually pretty obvious based on the buck/sculpt.

hasbroherofan 06-06-2021 12:41 PM

For anyone in California, seems the Avenger Campus shop is well stocked.

Dorkside posted on the Fwoosh that they're about to be invoiced for the Ursa Major wave. They said that it's possible that their shipment will arrive in about two weeks.

I'm in the same boat. I like watching Robo's videos but reviews in general don't sway my purchases anymore.

Starlord67 06-06-2021 01:15 PM

Ok..as much as I LOVE Legends...my wallet needs a break!! So many waves coming out is keeping me broke!! I'm trying to save some money to get the SDCC Exclusive (EXCALIBUR?)
I really want the Build-a-bear wave but my finances may not be able to handle it. *Whine*

Re: reviews; I just stopped watching video reviews for Legends a long time ago. Too many reviewers were trying to establish their brand/personality and since most figures in the line use the same or similar articulation schemes I just use pictorial reviews to check general paint apps and scale.

But that's what makes watching reviews so fun. I prefer people to have something to stand out from everyone else (and that's really how you have to go about it these days), especially if they are interactive with their reviews and have fun with them. I mean, reviewing toys is actually quite hard. I recorded two toy reviews myself a few years ago but when I was editing them they came out so boring that I never bothered to release them after I finished them.

Anyway, a little off-topic from ML, but here is a look at my updated Omnibus collection:

I love these books, not just because experiencing a lot of comics from before I was born being incredible, but also because I get to read them in order and many of them include the fan letter pages that were printed in the books, so I get to learn what others thought of them at the time as well.

Not to mention a lot of my most wanted Marvel Legends, or favorite Marvel Legends, are all thanks to these books.

Wow man. Very cool. I had a lot of those books – some of them back when they first hit the stands – TASM, New Mutants, Uncanny, and Miller's DD, specifically. Unfortunately, my whole collection was stolen many, many moons ago. I never even cared about their "value" as far as re-sale. I just loved the characters and stories. I'm slowly trying to restore that library, but damn...color me jealous, dude.

MeLikeJinx 06-06-2021 04:18 PM

That bookcase of comic goodness is awesome! For movies and games I don't mind the all digital future, but for books and comics... nothing beats a shelf full of them. I have no idea how people can read comics or books on a tablet over long periods of time.

And 90 percent of the time I always watch toy hunts and reviews on mute and then listen to music or something. I guess that is why I like Shartimus... his format hasn't changed since the beginning, so like I can just skip around his reviews with a single mouse click very easily.

OMG. Such a fitting end to a figure announced at the end of 2020.

TheBlueMarvel 06-06-2021 04:26 PM

Green Shulkie is showing up "In-Hand" on Ebay...

I don't have the select Colossus, but thought it was likely that some of the parts came from it. I had no idea the tunic could be removed, that must have been a nod to kitbashers. Good on them.

I've never watched reviews having mentioned as much here throughout the years. Maybe 2-3 grand total and that's normally just to confirm articulation - one was for the Collect and Connect Darkseid; the waist swivel is in an odd spot. High res photos are fine, I trust my opinion on most things.

Those are very cool, Doc! I read almost entirely silver & bronze age comics, and there’s nothing better than seeing the entire “life” of a character. The letter pages are great, my favorite surprise was finding a letter of complaint George R.R. Martin wrote into “Fantastic Four.”

There are tons of minor characters I have a disproportionate fondness for because of having recently read/ reread their classic appearances. Case in point, I read the seventies Shanna comics, and now have a serious hankering for a first appearance Shanna & her leopards.

I can't do digital period for anything. Well, maybe music, but that's about it. Movies, video games, comics, whatever, if I'm going to spend money on it, I need to be able to physically touch it and put it on my shelves.

Like here is my video game collection:

As for DVDs, Blu-Ray, 4K, etc, I've got over 1000 discs.

Martin wrote a letter in one? Wow, that's awesome and funny.

I still remember reading one of the Spider-Man issues had a letter from a soldier talking about how much his unit loves reading their comics and then about 5 issues later there is a letter saying that soldier was KIA just before they received the issue with his letter in it. So sad.

Yeah, reading those Silver Age Captain America books is what solidified MODOK and AIM for me. I like them better than Hydra now.

Not to mention I never liked Fantastic Four as much as I did until I read those Lee/Kirby books. Some day I want to pick up the Hulk, Thor, and Avengers ones to see if they also get me to look at those characters in a new light (well, I liked Thor in the 90s, but I've never really read too much of his solo books).

Thats a cool set up.....but you left a body part in the pic man. If you’re gonna dismember people dont leave a body part in a picture. ;) haha

Thanks. I know the Shaw is accurate, but now that a black and red version of that body exists, I think it will look a lot better for the Black King.

Select Colossus is much better than the Legends version. It's just too big. The upper shirt is removable, but the lower part of the shirt is sculpted on the body. I had to sand it down and the re-sculpt the stomach and belt.
I also cut off the knee pads and took about a 3/8 of an inch off the calves so he isn't quite as tall.

Martin wrote a bunch of letters in to different comics! They’re quite cool because a number of elements of them seem to trickle into GOT (my brother noticed that the Sons of the Harpy look a lot like these Blue Beetle villains: https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Blue_Beetle_Vol_5_4). Here’s a good article about it: https://www.denofgeek.com/tv/george-...arvel-letters/

The soldier’s story touches me, because to me, it summarizes what makes comics (Marvel especially) so great. The way they bring people together and provide a little bit of escape is remarkable, and even better is the awareness & respect Marvel had for its audience and what the books mean.

I love AIM & MODOK for the same reason. The FF were my least favorite as a kid, but reading the Lee/ Kirby stuff turned me around on them (well, that’s not really true. I still think Reed Richards is an ass, but I love their villains). If you were to get into the omnibi for another title, Thor’s my favorite of those three. The art is always top notch, and the stories are generally at least engaging. I also think Thor has the most consistently enjoyable supporting cast besides the X-Men or Spidey, which seriously improves the book.

If they ever reprint the Thor books, which I'm sure they will start doing so when Love and Thunder is hitting theaters, I'll most likely grab them.

I'd like to at least read up to when Kirby was planning to replace the Norse gods with the New Gods before he turned that into a DC series.
