I thought the same thing about the loin skirt/tunic for a moment, then it dawned on me that it was a different costume that sported that look. Actually, that was the look of the original pre-RoML Herc. The only thing I'd change on this Herc are the shorts and, maybe, make them more like swim trunks. But that's such a slight change that it becomes unnecessary.

However, the larger point about Hasbro seemingly avoiding the sexualization of certain figs by muting the female form remains. If we can understand that some dudes 'just be shamelessly beefy' (and naked, for the most part) and don't attach a sexual connotation to that, then we can get a more accurate Tigra/She Hulk/Goblin Queen/whomever without assuming the same things. If soccer moms/dads are the bane of these efforts, then just deliver the shit through fan/collector-sites similar to Herc. I respect that the current atmosphere is different than it 'may have been' (open to interpretation) in the 80's/90's when many of these iconic looks set in, but if we're evolving and creating more body-awareness it seems that excluding certain expressions and body types is equally stilted as having an overwhelming preponderance of them. Especially so when there seems to be no such standard with male representation.

Meh - I just want a She Hulk that looks like my mind's eye. I just got my new Shulkie with her 'shredded' (both musculature and clothes) look. It's a fantastic fig, but it still not the Shulkie I was looking for... The A-Force She Hulk was great IMO, of course, outside of the Y-joint hips and lack of double jointed elbows.

"Now?" There's a wealth of stories in Greek mythology that indicate Hercules took many lovers, both male and female. It hasn't been as much of a secret as it was overlooked/denied. If comic Herc is supposed to be the demigod of myth, then he likely doesn't discriminate too much when it regards bedfellows (ahem).

Not to kick this pot anymore than it already has been (I somewhat regret being playful earlier and assuming a certain level of maturity) but the teeth gnashing about Herc's rumored sexuality in the MCU needs to go the way of the dodo. It gave me pause, at first, given my understanding of the Marvel character and preference for "canon". Then I started to become more familiar with the mythos and ended up being of the sentiment - "oh shit, I didn't know that." It makes complete sense if he is the myth.

I've always accepted Hercules to be a hypersexual being who's down for it with anybody who's up to it. As for the costume they chose for this figure, I actually have a slight preference for this look over the more common thigh-sandals and sash look since this one felt more "superhero." A ton of ancient Greek art depicts Heracles as totally nude or near-nude so that aspect of the comic character has never bothered me.

I'm actually cool with mostly everything going on here except for one thing. Sandals on men grosses me out. Still might get him but that bothers me a little. Don't ask why.

I was vaguely aware of all this (and let’s not forget the old Steve Reeves Hercules movies were all certain folks had to… work with back in the day), but this figure just reads “gay” to me. Like the twinkle in his eye, what else could it be?? I imagine him as a power couple with Fisto from MOTU… aaaaaand I realize now might be the point I’ve put too much thought into this.

I do wish they had gone with Hercs "Champions" costume or the one from his first limited series but I ain't upset about the one the presented...or that Herc swings both ways. It's just the way it is.

Another reveal and another figure I can pass on. I would say Hasbro has saved me a bundle of money this year, but they got me with GI Joe and Power Rangers.

I once took the fist from Fist-O to work and gave it to my boss so he could "rule with an iron fist". He had it attached to the top of a pen for about 2 weeks and then got so frustrated with a co-worker for continually messing up that he threw it at the back of her head. That was the end of that.

Some of you can make Herc be whatever you want him to be, pansexual, Hypersexual, interdimensionalsexual, etc. My version will be the woman loving Greek God that loves to drink, brawl & love on the women. As far as sandals on men, I only wear flip flops in the house, no sandals. Once I step out the door into the real world, I have on sneakers on my off days, or tactical boots on my work days. Last thing I want is to be wearing sandals & SHTF where I have to run for my life from a horde of zombies or rage infected people & my sandals break or come off & now I'm running over glass/debris & let some fat slob zombie catch & eat me cuz I was wearing chanclas.
