I had skipped out on the 80th version of Iron Man partially because of the bicep issue and that I'm not a big enough Iron Man fan to be willing spend $25 on a figure of him unless he came with a BAF part I needed. I've never even read a stand alone Iron Man comic before unless it featured a secondary hero like Black Widow or Cap. Unlike Cap, despite loving RDJ as IM in the MCU, his movies still did not make me want to read IM comics.

In fact, the majority of my exposure to IM that wasn't in a team-up comic was the cartoon series from the 90s.

If fans and collectors really want the Haslab Galactus Figure and the Franke Raye Nova that goes with it, they all need to pick up the pace and back the project to 16,000 or more.

I mean duh.

Marvelousnews is reporting that there will be a Marvel Live Stream next Monday at 11am ET. The expectation is that the FF retro carded figures will be revealed.

WallySparks 08-04-2021 07:19 PM

I was at a Walmart store earlier today and they had the whole build a figure wave of that weird bad guy for Incredible Hulk from Immortal Hulk. all of the figuers were in the aisle

Red Skull, Arcade, Hood aka Bruce Campbell, Lady Deathstrike and the rest.

MeLikeJinx 08-04-2021 07:38 PM

^ That wave is starting to pegwarm I think... before finding Red Skull and Lady D was pretty hard... now not so much.

And I found Mark III IM at Target today. You know for something that is supposed to be a premium-ish line that costs more... finding one that had good paint apps on both Tony's eyes and the white eyes on the helmet was pretty tough... out of 5 on the pegs only one had decent paint apps on both headsculpts.

Dr Kain 08-04-2021 09:40 PM

Not at my stores. The villains have flown off the shelves. The only one I occassionally see anymore is Hood. No one has gotten a single restock of them at all.

Basically same here. So far across multiple stores all I've seen has been one Arcade, one Hood, and one Doom. Bummer for me because I was hoping the wave would clog shelves a bit and I could catch half of them on clearance since I'd like to have Xemnu.

I bought half as many figures in 2020 as 2019, and half as many as 2021 this year (and with rumored product for the rest of the year, that number is probably staying about where it is). A function of that has been that a lot of “maybe” figures have been “no”’s, especially as I decided to stop collecting MCU figures.

For me, part of it was also monetary, as I got back into collecting conics big-time recently, and I decided I’d rather let those be where my budget goes (yesterday I got a “Detective Comics” 300# in anticipation of “the Suicide Squad!”). As an example, I chose to buy a low-grade “Fantastic Four” 52# instead of the Haslab Galactus. So, while I hope the line is more to mine (and other folks’ tastes) next year, I dunno if my funds will hold! :P

I'm pretty much in the exact same boat. I've got about a dozen maybes this year and I haven't bought a single one of them yet. My only legends purchase so far, has been deluxe Thanos. I feel like I'm drifting away from collecting figures in general, and legends in particular. I'm just starting back into comic collecting after an almost decade long hiatus.

If you're not all that concerned with the figures themselves, I have the parts that came with Arcade and Deathstrike you can literally just have. Xemnu doesn't really hold any appeal for me.

RIP to one of my friends from back in Buffalo who knew anything and everything about comic books. Not just the history of a comic book character but even the history of the writers and artists of said character and/or issue. It was amazing because he could tell you things you never even knew existed.

My condolences to you for the loss of your friend. Just went through two personal deaths my self. May he rest in peace.

Sounds like a hell of a guy. I’m sorry for your loss. Same to you, Harbinger. Losing people is hard, and it never gets any easier.

I have a question about the current Xemnu build a figure wave

I dont know much as to why the new Dr Doom figure is all white but what's with the skull and spine accessory? That supposed to mean something?

It’s God Emperor Doom from the 2015 “Secret Wars.” He amasses cosmic power from Molecule Man and kills Thanos (among other folks). The skull & spine is Thanos’. Here’s a quick rundown: https://www.cbr.com/doctor-doom-god-...d-secret-wars/

Walmart AND Target actually delivered preorders on time, no cancellation.

Iron Monger is nice but there are some little armor pieces/connectors that could definitely pop off when playing with and posing.

Hulkwummy 08-06-2021 01:12 PM

Why isn't Age of Ultron Quicksilver showing up on Amazon for preorder of otherwise?

I saw Iron Man Mk 3 and Odin at the store today. Wasn't impressed with either of them. I might get an Odin down the road if I find one with better paint, but I don't know realistically where he would go on a shelf.

MeLikeJinx 08-07-2021 02:15 AM

^ I'm not really even an IM fan, but MCU Mark III is my fav IM armor... and well... that's the IM that started the whole MCU basically... so I just bought it for that historical reason. My Target had a bazillion Odins though... more Odins than Katys at that particular Target... I will try to catch him on clearance.
