As someone who's been expressing their desire for High Evolutionary for some time now I'm very happy to see Herb finally getting a figure even if a FF wave isn't really the best theme for him. I'm definitely interested in the flame-on Human Torch, it certainly looks much better than the Walgreens figure. I'll pass on the other three members of the Four and Psycho-Man, although Psycho-Man does look like a good amount of effort was put into him.

I've been waiting a long time for updated figures of the blue-and-white Negative Zone uniforms for the Fantastic Four and these figures did not disappoint me. I'm glad they're doing a Johnny Storm AND a Human Torch, as well as visible and invisible versions of the Invisible Woman. I will be getting all of the Four and some duplicates to keep some of them in their boxes. I'm still on the High Evolutionary and Psycho Man. They both look great, but they're not essential to my collection at the moment. I do hope we get more villains and allies for the Fantastic Four wave, especially the Mole Man, the Wizard, Crystal, She-Hulk, the Trapster and Annihilus. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for a Puppet Master and Alicia Masters two-pack.
The hand tease of a possible "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" version of Morbius has me curious on whether we'll see actual, non-exclusive figures of that series. Owning "Spider-Man: The Animated Series" versions of villains like Chameleon, Mysterio, Rhino, Scorpion, Shocker, Doctor Octopus, Hobgoblin, Green Goblin and so on would be welcome additions to my collection. That said, I do hope we'll see more comic book Retro Spider-Man figures for villains like the Chameleon, Doctor Octopus, Lizard, Kraven the Hunter, the Rhino, the Shocker, purple-and-blue suit Boomerang, Hydro-Man and the Hobgoblin. I'm curious which Marvel Legends live-stream reveals whatever they have planned for Captain America this year for his 80th anniversary. I'm surprised he didn't get his own wave too this year already. I just hope whatever it is they do for Cap isn't a store exclusive. Store exclusives drive me crazy. Thanks for reading my nonsense. I hope you all had a great weekend and I hope you all have a wonderful day. Stay safe, everyone. |
High Evolutionary looks pretty good, although I wish they'd painted the collar silver.

Also hoping the hand at the end is a tease for Morlun since he also has those weird palm orifices. https://i.redd.it/qd18gfln0eg71.jpg |
OH! If it's for Morlun then I am STOKED. #1 most wanted Spider-Man related character by far for me.

Domino's asymmetrical headgear looks wrong even if there may be one issue it's accurate to.

Domino's head sculpt is by far the weak link of the set. The hair and face just look really bad. Then the headgear... it is supposed to be symmetrical and have a microphone part coming off of it. They used some very poor reference art. Her costume isn't really accurate to anything either. It seems like a mashup of like 3 different costumes that Domino wore. I'd have been ok with the weird outfit if they had put more effort into the head. In fact, they probably should have just modeled the figure on the image they used for the box art. That would have been a great Domino. Rictor looks good and the only problem I have with it is that it isn't Feral. I'll probably kitbash a Cannonball to have a white shirt, grey gloves, and LEGS. |
At least that 3 pack comes with another needed character since I was gonna get the new Cannonball and Domino if it were a 2 pack anyway. And Domino's helmet is weird, but from a few feet away... on a crowded shelf with the rest of her teammates... IMO you don't tend to notice the small details as much. I'm sad they swtiched Marvel cards for the box art though... the '92 Jim Lee set that was on the Havok/Polaris box is my fav.
And I'm so glad I already got the Walgreens F4... it makes it much easier to just resist being tempted by any other future F4 stuff they have released. |
I think it’s clear the x-force figures aren’t completely comic accurate. They have feet don’t they??
|
I see a Valentin Shatalov Crimson Dynamo Hasbro revisit in those High Evolutionary arms and legs.

Like if they were to ever do the Strucker children from X-Men #4, what shape is Andrea's boob window going to be? Will it be round? Triangular? An upside down triangle? What if I want it round and they make it triangular? Does that mean they are wrong if it isn't round? :D j/k obviously. I don't need things to be 100% accurate in design, just that it at least resembles it. Like I will never expect a Captain America figure to have the exact Kirby chin, I just want it to at least look like it came from his art in presentation. |
What is wrong with Sue Storms headsculpt? It looks like the old Toy Biz Emma Frost. Awful. I'm not a huge FF fan so that whole wave is kind of an easy pass except possibly High Evolutionary.
Rictor is fantastic, Domino too, definitely picking that 3 pack up even though I don't care about enleggened Cannonball. Assuming it's available in Australia since Pulse and Disney store aren't. |
When at all did they say in the stream the X-Factor set was for premium members only??? This is fucked up bullshit!
Well it doean't matter now. I went to the Disney site and preordered it there. Pulse can take the Pyscho Man and Human Torch I was also going to preorder it and shove them up their ass. I'll just buy them if I see them in store. |

Here is the Disney link in case anyone needs it:
https://www.shopdisney.com/domino-ri...chType=regular The set with shipping and tax might have cost me $71, but that's far cheaper than paying an additional $40 plus $3 for it from Pulse. |
Geez, I can’t believe the Fantastic Four wave doesn’t ship until March. It’s more than likely due to reasons out of their hands (since everything is facing massive shipping delays right now), but darned if it isn’t a little disappointing.
Also, I’ve been checking out my local Targets lately for the first time in a few months, and had noticed that most of them are literally devoid of Black Series/ Marvel Legends (really collectible figures besides McFarlane’s “DC” line) stock. I assume they’re in the middle of a restock, but it’s been like this for a while. Anyone else notice something similar? Edit: damn, just found this article: https://yakfaceforums.com/main/2021/...s-coming-soon/, which indicates further MSRP increases. If $25 per figure becomes the case, I will be largely done with the line, outside of a couple outstanding favorite characters (Banshee, Starjammers). |
They just need to move production back to American and tell China to fuck off.

Gonna hold off on High Evolutionary and X-force for now. As I mentioned before I’m not really wanting to preorder out that far. And I’m not complaining, I’m sure there’s all kinds of logistics factors out of Hasbros hands. They’ll get them when they get them. Just crossing my fingers the AoA wave is still for this year.

My big sis surprised me by pre-ordering all four of the Fantastic Four today on Amazon. I'm a little disappointed the figures won't be out until March, but I'm not surprised and certainly understand why the figures are pushed back. We've been having a lot of waves delayed due to Covid and the new variants are pretty much putting a wrench in releasing everything and anything new all over again. At this point, I'm expecting both the 'No Way Home' movie and the toyline to get delayed. I just hope we'll see a few more Retro Spider-Man figures revealed before year's end, regardless of whether they'll be released in 2021 or for 2022. Villains such as Chameleon, Doctor Octopus, Lizard, Rhino, Shocker and Hobgoblin all need updates, more civilian figures like Aunt May Parker, first appearance Mary Jane Watson and Flash Thompson would be cool, and more Spider-Man costumes (black costume, Amazing Bag-Man, Web Armor, Octo-Spidey, classic Ben Reilly Spidey suit, etc.) would be appreciated. I'm also hoping for a red-and-blue costume Spidey re-release with the classic chest emblem from the John Romita Sr./Gil Kane era.
I'm on the fence about the X-Force three-pack. I don't need it, but it does look great. Also, one of my friends joked that Cannonball's blast effect looks like it has melting Cookie Dough Ice Cream on top of it and that's all I see when I look at it now. I'm not an "Age of Apocalypse" fan, but I do hope that new wave will still be released this year for those anticipating the Wave Two figures. I hope you all are having a great day and stay safe, everyone. |
I am stoked to be getting High Evolutionary but I'm not going to pre-order him as I sincerely doubt he'll be hard to get once he's actually out.
|
Damn... didn't realize that X-Force 3 pack was a Shop Disney/Pulse Premium exclusive. I am so glad Legends already finished with all the 90's Jim Lee X-men... guarantee if they were released now they would all be separated into different exclusives instead of in just regular waves.
