Toys are relegated to the man-cave...65" I'm slumming over here. ;)

Spyne98 08-14-2021 06:20 AM

Glad to see I'm not the only one with a tv and toys in his man cave haha. I'm actually finishing my basement as we speak. Once I get shelves and stuff, I'll totally be sharing pictures!

Dr Kain 08-14-2021 07:52 AM

Our hope is to get a house that would give me a room big enough to increase the number of detolfs I have now with a dedicated diroma area for photography while my wife wants a room where she can set up her Lego collection as one big city.

I live by myself so no one to tell me where to put my collectibles. I have my office/game room/toy room in the front room, my wall o pool ( the wall behind my tv in the living room is lined with various deadpool figs in package along with deadpool posters and canvas art ) and my bedroom has my boxed sw figires behind the wall of my tv in the bedroom and my dc direct/mcfarlane boxed figs around the closet there. ;)

Speaking of caves, I’m in the process of moving in and setting up my man cave now. Hopefully I’ll have all my detolfs lighted this weekend so I can start setting up shelves and sorting out this horde of toys I’ve accumulated over the course of a year. I’ve got some major unboxing and BAF completions coming in the next couple months.

^ Wow. Congrats on having your own shiny new collectible room! I think you are only in trouble once you need to rent a storage locker for all your extra unopened toy junk.

11,773 backers for the Haslab Marvel Legends Galactus, we better get cracking if we're gonna get to 14,000, and 16,000 for Frankie Raye Nova.

They are going to have to scramble and throw Firelord in, or face an embarrassing failure to even hit one stretch goal. I know there are a lot of fans/apologists for "The Big Three" (I really hope they didn't crown themselves with that name....ohhh, the hubris), but this was botched pretty badly. It wouldn't have killed them to make the first tier a 2 herald unlock considering the number of choices. Additionally, the insertion of a Surfer retread was a straight dummy move reeking of both greed and laziness. And I don't want to hear about the costly construction of bucks/molds as this is an earmarked project and any additional costs pale in comparison to whatever the price tag is/was for tooling Galactus. How any well-heeled toy project-manager who presumably follows toy-media doesn't have even a cursory understanding that Nova and Firelord are atop almost everyone's list is simply beyond me.

....and this from someone that really, really, really wants this to happen. Someone that has already signed on for 2 and is still willing to potentially pick up more, IF they come correct.

Meh. As it stands, I'll still get a mighty impressive toy out of it all, but it appears I'll still be waiting to scratch those herald itches.

EDIT To Hasbro...show me Firelord and I will get another. Extend that tease list to Redshift, Morg, Stardust, etc and I'll follow up accordingly.

Spyne98 08-15-2021 08:15 PM

Looking great, Archangel!

My Target had a bazillion Odins though... more Odins than Katys at that particular Target... I will try to catch him on clearance.

I wish I had done that. I ended up buying him and regret it because he's not that great. If I had paid less for him I might not feel that way. Maybe if I can get myself to return it I'll do that. At $26 I expect more.

On another note, I somehow managed to find a Happy pack in stores today. Got to choose from 4. I am quite pleased with the pack.

Yeah, the corporate overlords are probably kicking themselves over this one, but whatever.

Veronica Mars 08-15-2021 09:59 PM

I watched the Power of X-Men podcast's interview with Ryan Ting last night and when asked about Siryn he said one of the things causing the delay is finding a way to make her cape work, any ideas? My first thought was to do two capes like they did with FA Storm, or maybe have a couple clips that hold the cape to her biceps and forearms. I think the female arms are too slender to use the Falcon/Vulture method

ariellagunas 08-16-2021 12:20 AM

Yep, Blue Marvel. I don’t get how you do a Kickstarter without showing the strech goals from the get go. Same as I don’t get the whole, who’s gonna be reveal? In general. We’re not little kids. Like , we are doing this 110 figures this year, and then just announce the pre orders or sale dates. Couldn’t care less about the three (lovely as they are) babbling about on YouTube.
That way we have an idea of yearly budget, since most of us collect other lines too.

As for Syrin and Banshee, they can just do a fabric wings. It’s not that complicated.

From the sound of things the issue is more attaching the cape to the figures than what to make the cape out of. Except Banshee, no one wants Dwight to quit so Banshee isn't going to happen

Archangel 08-16-2021 03:19 AM

Maybe the Marvel team needs to throw in a “early bird” exclusive figure in for anyone who backs before the 30th and extend this thing another month. Follow the Mattel route. I’d love to see all the tiers.

Everyone likewise ask for an extension in this special Q/A with the ML team at Marvelicious Toys = https://m.facebook.com/MarveliciousT...86708644692287

Agreed! Unicron can get an extension. So can Galactus, Frankie Ray, Firelord, etc. Hurry hurry hurry to Mavelicious Toys, ask the ML team for an extension.

No thanks. I'd rather it be a rubbery plastic like First Appearance Storm had.

I hate touching my Jim Lee Storm because I feel like the cape is going to tear apart every time I touch it.

Just have two rubber cape pieces and have them clip on to the back of the figure.

Also, Dwight will not quit over Banshee. Plus, they need to do Banshee as he's the only member left to the Giant Size team that isn't done.

MeLikeJinx 08-16-2021 06:17 AM

^ Yah I hate storing away Jim Lee Storm because I am afraid her cape will get all wrinkled in the bin with the rest of the figures. Maybe felt material would have been better than what we got.

I don't have the red and yellow Legends Spider-woman, but I think she came with like webbing under her armpits. Maybe they could do something like that.

And there is two Banshees... they can just release yellow and blue X-men Banshee now and then the green costume Banshee as his last figure.

ariellagunas 08-16-2021 06:46 AM

Yeah, clip on wings would be ideal for the Cassidys. Thou will need new moulding.

And sure, softer plastic would do, whatever. There’s only one way to display those two anyway.

Agreed. The silly stretch-goal secrecy represents counterintuitive marketing to the extent that it almost smacks as amateurish. As you point out, the whole coy nature of the 'Easter-Egg' approach to reveals and 'oh boy, what's on Ryan's shelf/mind today???' is beyond infantilizing. Without being privy to the numbers, I'd hazzard to guess that the people that love this sort of thing don't buy in 'waves'. Instead, they're likely buying one-offs here and there, which is fine as there's room for all. However, for collectors that still buy nearly everything, speaking for myself only, this shit has long since become tedious. Just tell me what I can expect, leading me around by the nose with glimpses of a foot here and a hand there will only have the opposite effect. The fatigue inspired by this tactic is bleeding through on this thread, if I take the comments I've read at face value. I only visit the Ark for toy news now and no longer frequent other sites like TheFwoosh, but I imagine a similar exhaustion is developing in a more global sense.

Captain Nash 08-16-2021 07:22 AM

For Banshee and Syrin/Siryn I would rather have the rubbery texture like Dr. Kain mentioned, that came with FA Storm, but would be fine with the clothy/papery version as well (like what came with JL Storm).

They just honestly need to figure it out. Banshee is absolutely essential at this point and I agree, Dwight's not going to quit just because they make him. It's a running joke, that has run its course at this point. Now as to GSXM or JL Banshee, ultimately I'd like both, but I'm fine with whichever comes first.

Syrin, while not quite as essential, is going to get there before too long. She's going to be needed to round out the 90's X-Men/X-Force. She may not have a lot of points in the yearly "top 10 list" but for me personally she's pretty close to my top 10 as well, and I'm sure not that far off for others. Just because she's not top 10 doesn't mean she's not really close for a lot of people.

YES!

The hints and teases are absurd. I really miss Toyfair and revealing most of the toys for the year all at one time.
Don't they realize people work? How am I supposed to tune in for a random reveal on a random day during work hours? Then I have to be ready to put in a pre-order on a weekday afternoon that usually sells out quickly for anything exclusive.
What good is the extra hour early pre-order time that you get with a Pulse Premium membership if you're working during that hour?

Just show the stuff and make it available to buy. Most collectors are adults with jobs and we don't all have time for nonsense and jumping through hoops.
