Alan Davis is a genius; he represents 3 of those 4 images. lol

Mobb One 08-29-2021 05:37 PM

I'd get a green Phoenix costume Rachel Summers (even though there's already a green Phoenix jean) to pose with Galactus an re-enact their battle in Excalibur 61. I'll probably get one regardless anyway and just switch the Rachel head into the green Phoenix body.

Speaking of heads. This morning while I was watching for the tier 4 reveal, my browser jammed up for a second right at the top of the purple hood. I legit thought that tier 4 was an Oblivion head, for some inexplicable reason.

Then doom's face revealed itself and I went from one extreme feeling to another. Who asked/wanted a doom head to go with their massive Galactus figure?!? I mean I could have seen the head of Omega from Infinity Abyss, but man what bad comedy lol.

Yes, these pictures totally capture the essence of iconic Rachel Summers! Hopefully these are the images that come up for Hasbro when they Google her.

Is that a mullet ponytail? She and David Bowie are like the only two people I've seen with that hairstyle I think. So if Rachel is a possible deluxe figure... looks like they won't be forcing me to buy another Nightcrawler again.

Sometimes it's a mullet, sometimes it's a rat tail, that why she needs multiple heads

Dr Kain 08-30-2021 06:29 AM

Looks like the Doom head is a go. I wonder if they'll put one last item out. I hope it's Terrax.

Archangel 08-30-2021 06:51 AM

I’m on the fence on buying a second to display with that Doom head…but I really can’t figure out how to shoehorn him into the collection. I really just want one Galactus as the pinnacle of my collection. I might toss the Doom head and forget it exists.

TheBlueMarvel 08-30-2021 07:20 AM

Auction it on eBay, people will be buying them loose and will need the various tiers creating a market. I'll likely be auctioning at least one of my Sentinels piecemeal, without Bastion and the female Sentinel. I'll do the same with the Galacti.

Captain Nash 08-30-2021 07:59 AM

I wonder if the team really thought the backer number would reach the Doomlactus head tier, like maybe they put that up in not complete seriousness. At any rate, now they actually have to make it, which is kind of funny to me.

If THAT IS the way it happened, I'd also find it very funny. Should have just made another herald, now you've got to make a dumb oversized Doom head that you can't even recycle parts for. HA! Complete silliness, the few people that are aware of that story likely would have also preferred another herald. But whatever I got Morg! Lol

Agreed wholeheartedly. In fact, Excalibur #6 is the first book I ever read, and as such, his art set a precedent by which I would judge all other art.

A mighty fine precedent. I've also followed him since Excalibur, but branched out and backtracked picking up his Marvel UK Cap Britain run and Miracle Man stuff. After that, it was a wrap. I've been hooked ever since and followed him to whatever Marvel project he was on. Big fan over here of his body of work, even the DC stuff.

Just wanted to join in on the Alan Davis commentary, absolutely agree that he's a genius, definitely top 5 for me if not #1 - nothing will ever top George Perez for me , but he comes pretty close.

Davis' style particularly with the way he draws female characters and expressions may be more than Perez's though. Perez is more like an all around details godsend, but Davis may be a better artist when it comes to focused expressions.

I agree with this! Davis is in my Top 3 following Byrne and Perez.

So out of curiosity I googled Excalibur #6... um yah... that cover would have for sure given me nightmares in 1989. LOL. I think my first X-men comic was 270... aka X-tinction Agenda part 1... I don't recognize any of the covers before that one with Havok on the cover.

Ah yes, the Inferno crossover! Such a mature storyline, it wouldn't stand out so much now, or in the last decade or two, but back in the very late 80's comics were still very much geared towards kids. This was unexpectedly dark for those times.

No fists for Morlun, but 3 sets of hands for Shriek...

Rachel vs. the wall and Meggan's transformation into the Goblin Princess have stuck with me for my entire life- I was 8 or so when I read it. The ironic but is that I happened to stumble across it while visiting my grandmother's house, who happened to be very religious. I'm sure a cousin left it behind, but if she'd have seen what was in that book, it'd have gone into the fireplace for sure.

Ive still yet to go back and actually read the entire story arc- no time like the present, I suppose.

Hot damn that's a big number. I sincerely hope BigBadToyStore opens up a preorder. I just started a new job today and killed myself a little to afford things like this. So I really hope that happens now that I know I can afford him.
