Professional wrestler Danhausen just posted a video unboxing of the Elvis Modok figure.

Seems pretty familiar with unboxing Legends and the characters, in general, as well. /s I hope Hasbro's not paying much money for these low level celebrities to perform these promotionals because I'd rather they simply spend the money on tooling budgets. |

Don't take this personally, but that bit of silly marketing, especially if paid for, is not what moves the needle for many collectors. That MODOK was pretty widely panned as a poor choice for an exclusive and the inclusion of The Captain as a niche, but coveted 'hostage' was received even more poorly by many on this thread. While this schlocky stuff might resonate with you, obviously, for others (me) it's an insult to the intelligence. To trot out a veritable no-name shill peddling a fig that already grates on the nerves of many, in principle, is exactly the type of head scratching marketing that is irritating fans. This reminds of Taboo's (Black Eyed Peas) cameo on a Fan-First something-or-another from earlier this year (?) and individuals lamenting that he'd wasted a great deal of time that could have been used to discuss Legends reveals. I didn't even watch that, but sympathized with the mild annoyance it generated. The idea is the same here. Dan's 'in-character' voice was off-putting enough without his fumbling with the multiple points of tape Legends fans are accustomed to from multiple box-set purchases betraying him as, at least, somewhat uninitiated. I'll admit to not even bothering to watch that second video of Dan as I don't care if that dude collects other toys (or Legends) given that I've long since aged-out of wrestling. If Hasbro is going to pander to me, they can do better than this and definitely don't pay anyone for this stuff; put that cash back into the production line. |

"Clearly I struck a nerve with you" ::: proceeds to write a two paragraph diatribe about how intelligent they are and how Hasbro isn't pandering to them ::: We're all nerds here so calm down. ;) |

No, you didn't strike a nerve, writing two whole paragraphs (count 'em) isn't a tall order for most young people beyond a certain grade, let alone adults and what was written was far from apoplectic. People here opine about everything from toys, to movies, to comics, and one of the popular subjects of late has been the way in which Hasbro is handling marketing and press junkets. Also, you can nerd out on wrestling, there's nothing wrong with that, just be able discern criticism of the source material from criticism of yourself. If Mos Def, President Obama, Robert Downey Jr., or Pope Francis were unboxing Marvel legends as corporate shills I would've said exactly the same thing - especially if the unboxing was of that MODOK and they were using an annoying voice. |
I found a Tigra at Gamestop yesterday! I had the rewards points too, so I got her for a good price. I didn't have time to open her yet, but she looks good. I'll be selling the old one that I've had for years now.
I didn't read the Avengers Academy book or West Coast Avengers books that she was in, so I'm not sure if there's a reason for the angry face having more stripes. Does anyone know why the angry face has additional stripes? |

Not sure if it's old news but GameStop's site has Tigra in stock

Found Captain Carter, Quicksilver, and the Intergrated Suit Spidey today while out and about. I originally had no interest in the Spidey, but the matte, textured finish really caught my eye in contrast to its' bright golds, looking way better in hand than in its promo shots.
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c829cc_k_d.jpg Quicksilver is nicely done, and I appreciate the dio pieces/accessories he comes with...but Captain Carter is on a whole different level. The sculpt, the paints, are so clean...If you put aside some of her articulation issues, she's literally a couple of alternate hands away from being on par with a lot of imports. She's that good. Easily my top Legends figure of the year so far. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...b01110_k_d.jpg |
Found the Eternals wave today at Target. Not getting these but they looked good in person. Really liked Icarus.
It appears Druig is gonna be the pegwarmer. |
Went to quite a few GameStops today and almost every store had a single Captain Carter and a completely random figure from the Eternals wave. Picked-up these two.

Assholes like you are the worst part of "collecting" in this day and age. The all too high expectations for a product that is not aimed at what you want. Why should a company cater to some sad old geek that wants some obscure product that won't make them a a profit? Your "His cape is the wrong color!" mentality. Your "I've been a fan before you born!" mentality. Your "Well, I'm smarter than the average fan!" mentality. The best thing about all this, and I mean the absolute BEST thing about all this is when they finally release a "Blue Marvel" action figure... You're going to be on here bitching and moaning about how his hair is the wrong color, or about how his boots are wrong, or how he is not in the costume that you wanted, or about whatever goddamn imperfection you find that is not up to your lofty bullshit standards. So you know what? FUCK YOU. There's your "I struck a nerve" for you, you fucking asshole. Grow up and fuck off. |

I guess I did strike a nerve and to think, you told me I needed to calm down with all this animus welling up within you. Just for the record, dude, when spending money on any product, you earn the right to be critical and have expectations. That sort of discerning fandom (or patronage) actual helps deliver things that are of high quality that everyone enjoys. Acquiescing and placidly accepting anything and everything shoveled your way doesn't sharpen the resolve of any company to please the individuals that give them money. Just the opposite, it inspires them to go on larks and deliver things no one wanted based on capricious whims or a general "who cares, they'll buy what we sell them" attitude. Whether you believe it or not, constructive criticism has shaped a great deal of the Marvel Legends line from retirement of the Bucky mold, to the addition of more hand accessories, and the delivery of complete redrafts of figures improperly sized. Let's take the Silver Surfer as one example. On the Fwoosh and here, years ago, I posted what I believed would make for the best construction and design for Norrin and Hasbro delivered nearly exactly what I was looking for down to the the butterfly shoulders, multiple hand sets, and head modeled after Ron Lim's run on the book. Now I don't take credit for it, but the coincidence is far too uncanny to ignore and I do believe Hasbro trawls these threads in some capacity. Contrary to your, uhhh, conniption, I'm quite happy with the fig (along with many others like Kang, Man-bun Herc lol, all of the 80ths, etc) and, provided they put some thought into it, will likely be happy with the Blue Marvel. Look, I've typed two whole two paragraphs before work, again, without calling you names, or losing my composure. ;) Also, while I knew you had it in you, I ain't mad at you son and if you ever want to converse again in the future, hopefully, without the "spaz", I won't hold this true "diatribe" against you. :thumbs |
