IMO the Blade wide legs version is one of the hardest to find and probably be on Rafs list as #9.

Blade rocks too!!! It is nice having a day walker! I'm not bothered about certain levels of articulation, I just like having cool figures to play with for my son and I.
Jackieboy, Vision is the tops in the line of our collection,in my opinion. Even if he wasn't rare, we.just like the character. That's just me, everyone is entitled to their own view. There is no right or wrong figure, just opinions. He is.just the shiniest figure.... I like shiney things. Perhaps I did go on about him too much. I was just excited!!! Usually these boards are for complaining. I am a very happy and positive person. I like to tell others when something about a figure is nice. Just.spreading the love. I also like Olympic Curling... so there no accounting for tastes. Your still my favourite arker Jackie!!! |
I'm just worried that the infinite line will become a straight repack line once the currently "in the pipe" figures dry up. I wouldn't be shocked if we get see scourge, ant man, val, white queen, Cyclopes, colossus jugs, then years of repacks of the entire MU, with slight paint changes. or single card issues of comic or team pack figures. sadly that sounds like a Hasbro move.

I guess we will have our fears answered by sdcc.

Raf is what I call a perfectionist collector who has to have every item released in his collection. That's awesome. It takes a ton of hard work, time and cash. To the average collector who just wants one of every character or just wants to have a complete collection, yes Vision is the holy grail, as to the average collector that is the hardest
And most expensive mU dude to find. I tip my hat to Raf. His collection can not be meet by anyone I know |

Sure, your statement may ring true as we all have fear in the back of our minds.... "how can Hasbro get it right...am I dreaming" To that I would simply say.... enjoy the sunshine for now gentlemen....I smell rain. |
So, after the confirmation that 3.75 scale marvel figures are being supported with new figs based on proper niche collector characters, with at least 3 waves this year (obligatory repacks and 1 to 12 ratio wasp pack ins of course) people are still doubting? At least you guys are passionate but severly unbalanced! This line will run until your shelves are buckling under the weight of 300 unique toys, another 200 repaints and re-styles and yet you'll still find a way to have a pop and gripe. Thank flip for the UK collector thread. Nothing counts until you see the photo of king geek junior holding his moc Vision ready to bust it out and assemble a kick booty team of Avengers. There is a simple joy inherent in toy collecting that valuation and catalogoing tend to suck away. No offense meant, you guys are my faves, but geeks is geeks I guess.

any word on variants in the infinite series, or even rumors overheard in dark back rooms of rundown comic shops?

What's the last variant anyone can remember? I saw more daggers at retail Then cloak. I think the last variant was the beast upside down if I'm not wrong. We will find out regardless soon enough |
Does the handswap on Blastaar count?

As far as Vision goes I was never willing to pay like $50 or more because he didn't impress me other than a nice paint scheme. I think the clear version is much better as it's easier to not see the funky small buck and I dig translucent figures anyway. I'd take an Astral Strange over a solid Vision any day of the week if someone was offering but that's just me. I do think that unreleased stuff like the Ant-Man 2-pack and those Cage/Widow variants are the most rare and probably most prized by collectors. After that it's your Solid Vision, X-Force AA, and the like. They may not be as rare as the Scarlet Spider variant but there isn't another version of them that was easy to get and that people are content with. Vision sells for a lot and that will continue, maybe forever, but fine gets reissued in MI prices will drop like a rock. Even if they make a new comic version on a new buck that would happen. The market will go from every collector who is a fan of the character down to MOC completionists. There is evidence of this, Warpath for one. Was like $50+ at one point. Went down with the X-Force 3-pack. Some people wanted the silver instead of the grey so that version still cost a bit. It got repacked into the Dagger/Along case and now demand is largely filled. I've seen him peg warm here for months. Even on clearance for $5 he didn't sell for a week. This is why I don't pay those prices for very many figures. Unless the line/scale is solidly dead a rare figure is likely to come around again. |

I like your list, maybe throw the ant man/ moon knight pack on there, and I'm with you, a running error is a variant IMO, the one in a millions, IE, wrong package, miss packed, missing an accessory, or arm ,or backwards limbs these are anomalies and where as there fun to find I wouldn't classify them as "variants", but if something, even an error occurs in great enough numbers to catch the public consciousness I think it gets collector status.

We will get a movie figure of The Vision and maybe even a movie variant of comic style. Still isn't the original.... more like a kit car of a classic. Maybe, maybe a new version of him in MI. Nothing will make his value drop and he will one day be the sole $1000 figure of the line in a long enough time line. He is th MU (open anyway) holy grail.. the reissue would not be MU. NOT TRYING TO PICK A FIGHT.... just my opinion that because something new comes out that the new thing can replace and erase demand for the old thing.... in fact, history tells us it is the opposite. When he is seen on the big screen, demand for the classic COULD go through the roof. |
