Really digging this Legends Retro Thing

Just picked up Legends Retro Mr. Fantastic with 15% off and preordered Kang since I had a $10 off cert from Gamestop.

When the Walgreens Thing was released, he was my top figure of the year. I got the retro one on sale and he still hold up! I'm really digging him too and I'm glad you like him! I also like the Mr. Fantastic myself. He's pretty solid. I got Sue, but I'm going to swap out the head. I really don't like it.
I was able to order the Human Torch from Amazon and he's arriving today. I can't wait!

AWESOME! I'm dying for a new Smart Hulk. I had the old one for so long but I recently sold him. I wouldn't mind an update.

Rektangular has posted a new video saying that the next vintage line will be Iron Man based. He also said that the next Avengers wave is moved up to April and will have Thor, Iron Man, Blue Marvel, U.S.Agent, Quake, Speedball, and Viper. He's usually pretty spot on with his info. Not new news, but still nice to have it confirmed. Pretty excited to have Speedball and Blue Marvel.

Boogieman4hire 01-10-2022 02:12 PM

I guess you could say they're... legends in the making....

I really hope USAgent is OG. If he includes an alt silver shield and head that resembles Steve Rogers I'll stroke out. I've been waiting for a proper Captain figure for over 30 years.

So no villains?

Which one is Viper again?

Looking at the old 1994 Iron Man toy line, some possibilities for this new vintage line are:

Modular Iron Man (red & yellow, non-metallic)
War Machine
Julia Carpenter Spiderwoman
Grey Gargoyle
Blizzard
Whirlwind
Dreadknight

This isn't a definitive "They just GOTTA make THESE!" list. These figures are just easy repaints that could made.

MeLikeJinx 01-10-2022 07:47 PM

Didn't Rektangular lose his source or something? Maybe Hasbro had a mole hunt like in the first Mission Impossible movie. He used to have all kinds of legit leaks, but now he just repackages already know stuff.

And oh boy am I glad that comic US Agent is no longer a Walgreen exclusive... all my Walgreens got rid of their Marvel Legends tags and put all existing Legends in a tiny clearance section. Don't think I will see Quasar, Binary or Baron Zemo.

It's either a new Madame Viper (of Hydra) or possibly that member of the Serpent Society who also used the name. I would lean towards it being Madame Viper but we've gotten enough other Serpent Society members that I wouldn't totally throw that notion out the window.

Throw in Crimson Dynamo (Classic) and Mandarin (90s Iron Man cartoon) as well

I forgot the period sine, and I can't delete the first quote, that's why I posted my quote twice. Sorry about that.

Ah, if it's Madame Hydra I'm totally for her then. She'd be the only one of the wave I would buy.

Boogieman4hire 01-10-2022 11:01 PM

Sure the wait is about a year, but I think these magic effect pieces could be utilized amazingly with Doctor Strange and of course various other magic using characters. I consider myself an avid fan of mythic legions so I already had both sets ordered to go with those anyway, but I picked up an extra of the "heroic" set with the classic Walmart Strange in mind. Thinking of getting an extra "evil" set because those red circle effects look like they'd be wicked with Scarlet Witch. Also both sets have lightning parts which have a broad range of uses.

I don't know if we'll see another Grey Gargoyle since the one from the Captain Marvel wave was everywhere (at least in my area). I'd like Mandarin from the cartoon (or comics for that matter). I'd dig a Blizzard that looks more like that cartoon. Maybe a classic Living Lazer? I'd be curious what they come up with for this wave. I'm very excited for it. Maybe repaint the Modular Iron Man as War Machine like in the Capcom vs Marvel game!

I am surprised the Avengers wave would include Iron Man, seeing as there was an Iron Man wave this past year, as well as two MCU versions and now a rumored Iron Man based vintage line.

That being said, I am curious as to what version of Iron Man it will be. MCU or comics version. Will it be re-paint of a prior sculpt?

With BoneBreaker now a sure-thing I figured it was time to finish up some Reavers. PrettyBoy is probably on the short list but not so sure that a suitable body for the Reese head that came with Skullbuster will ever see the light of day. G.I.Joe Classified Gung-Ho and Roadblock were happy to donate parts though until hasbro makes something happen...

I was gonna do this with reese macon etc but given ive actually never seen gungho at retail and im done ( for the most part ) collecting legends i opted against it. But those reavers look damn good buddy.

Mimicboy 01-11-2022 12:46 PM

An Iron Man retro wave was not what I was hoping the next retro series would be, but I feel like this fits with some of the side talk we heard during Hasbro's live streams last year. I am still holding out hope for an Evil Mutants retro wave and a Generation X retro wave eventually. Those Gen X card backs would look so good!
While I am hoping though, I do want the Iron Man wave to give us a Force Works Scarlet Witch! I don't know how likely this could be since we just got the repaint retro Scarlet Witch, but since she was co-leader in the comics and her and Force Works were in the 90's cartoon (though not a huge role) I will keep advocating for her. I would bet we are more likely to get a civilian Pepper Potts or a redo of Spider-woman as the female figure instead though :(

Hopefully one day Wanda's burgeoning popularity will get us more Scarlet Witch figures.

TheBlueMarvel 01-11-2022 02:45 PM

^well, so far, her popularity has gotten us at least 5 figs.

Fear not, Hasbro won't fail any requests for retread. Unless, of course, it's something I happen to want like a new Ultron, a color-edit for Nova (lol so very on purpose...), a proper Beta Ray, and Abomination.
