If Iron Man is this year's Retro wave, I'll be disappointed. I was really hoping we'd get a Retro The Incredible Hulk wave this year for the Hulk's 60th anniversary and the Hulk has a ton of characters that have yet to get first-time figures and/or much needed updates. Lab coat Bruce Banner, General "Thunderbolt" Ross, a Jack Kirby-esque Hulk, the Gargoyle, Tyrannus, Ringmaster, classic Abomination, the Absorbing Man, the Harpy, Doc Samson, She-Hulk, orange-and-black costume Leader, the U-Foes -- the list goes on and on. Maybe Hasbro has some kind of 60th anniversary Hulk plans? Even a boxed set of some kind would be nice.
For the Retro Iron Man wave, I'd love an animated version of Blizzard. I'm curious what version of Mandarin that Hasbro would make if he does make the roster for the Retro wave. I'm curious if we'll see the "Heroes Return" armor for Iron Man in the Retro wave or for the upcoming Avengers wave. What I'm most looking forward to this year is what Hasbro has planned for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man's 60th anniversary year. I'd imagine a classic Spidey re-release is in the works since Dan Yun said in an interview not to pay scalpers and that Hasbro is aware fans want wall-crawling posed hands. A Tobey Maguire Spider-Man would be very much appreciated, since this is the 20th anniversary year of the original Sam Raimi film. More civilian characters like Aunt May Parker, Mary Jane Watson and Joe "Robbie" Robertson would be welcome additions to my collection. I'm also hoping for a classic costume Black Cat since I missed the original release a few years back. As far as villains go, I'm hoping for the Chameleon (since he was Spidey's first villain), a Vulture re-release, some kind of Doctor Octopus with bendable wire tentacles, Kraven the Hunter with brighter costume colors, the rumored Walmart-exclusive Lizard, classic Rhino, purple-and-blue costume Boomerang, Jack O'Lantern with his hoverdisc, and/or classic versions of Venom and Carnage within the next year or two. Some new figures for Calypso, the Spot, the Rose, Carrion, classic Kaine, classic Stunner, Fusion II from the Paul Jenkins "Peter Parker: Spider-Man" run, Delilah and Mr. Negative would be nice surprises too. I also would love to see new classic versions of characters like Mysterio and Green Goblin with multiple alternate heads (like Quentin Beck and Daniel Berkhart for Mysterio, and Harry Osborn and Dr. Bart Hamilton for Green Goblin). So many characters, so little shelf space... |

Coldblood is new. I'm not familiar with that character, but sure add them too.

As far as retro IM wave goes, Plz, no animated versions, make that a seperate line. IM retro line need a "Heroes return" IM, A space armor IM from the Operation:Galactic Storm storyline. Neo Classic Armor redo, classic Living Laser, 80s Ghost & 80s 'Armor wars" Crimson Dynamo & 70s Titanium man. A retro Hulk based Line should be classic 70s/80s Green/Grey Hulks on smaller bucks, around 7.5 scale, An 80s John Byrne Hulk also on 7.5 buck. Classic Doc Samson on new retro Hercules buck, classic Abomination, on 7.5 scaled buck, Bruce Banner, classic in scale Absorbing man. Retro Spidey line for me would consist of classic Spidey with multiple head sculpts & 4 different sets of hands & web FX. Classic Tarantula, Black Tarantula, classic White Tiger, classic in scale Lizard, classic Equinox, classic 7.5 scale Rhino can be the BAF. |
@Nimrod Nice suggestions on the Marvel Legends lines mentioned, but I think the smaller versions of the early versions of Hulk would be more 6.5 inch scale. Remember, there was a time when characters like the Hulk, the Rhino and the Thing weren't as tall or as wide as they are currently in the comics when artists like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko drew their comics.
I wouldn't be surprised to see at least "Iron Man" animated series character for the Retro wave, since we got an animated(-ish) Hobgoblin for the second Retro Spider-Man wave. Granted, the face doesn't resemble the animated series version and the shape of the animated series glider is wrong, but that's what Hasbro's calling it. In regards to the Retro Spider-Man waves, there is no Build-A-Figure (yet) with those waves, so I'd imagine your Rhino pick would be a Deluxe larger figure instead. I actually prefer Deluxe figures for characters like Rhino and Hulk, since they're usually reduced to being Build-A-Figures and I prefer getting a Deluxe version of a figure than to get an entire wave just build the one character I want. When we do get new Marvel Legends waves for Iron Man, Hulk and Spider-Man, I'm hoping to see at least one civilian character and a minimum of two female characters (whether they're a hero, a villain or supporting character) per wave. There are a ton of female characters that Hasbro has yet to make into first-time figures or as new updated figures, and the civilian characters are always welcome additions to my collection. Thanks for your attention. I hope you all are having a great day and stay safe, True Believers. |

I am trying to think of a time in which the original BAF was better than the corresponding Deluxe/Reissue version and I cannot. Juggernaut was better... Monster Venom was better... Walmart Thanos was better... Homecoming Vulture etc... all better.
EDIT:Kingpin! I forgot about him... BAF Kingpin was arguably better than the Retro version. |

^Hmmm you are right about Kingpin... maybe that is how it should always be done then. Any deluxe version of a previous BAF should have enough differences that the people that bought the original BAF shouldn't feel too bad about it being re-released so soon. 2 pack Juggernaut definitely felt like a gut punch to me.
But look at Retro Sandman vs BAF Sandman... I believe another classic Rhino is definitely coming out, but maybe it will be a Retro version instead a Deluxe BAF re-release. |

To each their own at the end of the day. I am just kicking myself that I currently have 3 Kingpins in my collection. I have the BAF, a second BAF that I turned into Shadow King and the Retro one. Might be time to sell one. |
Hasbro dropped the ball by making Kingpin so big in hgt. He needed to be at least a full inch shorter but the width maintained. Any new classic Hulk, Thing, Rhino, Abomination, Juggs, KP, all need to be an inch shorter and the one figure they need to give hgt to, Sasquatch, needs a deluxe figure at the 10' inch scale as he is a 10 footer in the comics.

I happen to think both Kingpin figures stand equally on their own merits- of course, that's without actually having one in hand yet. I sure missed the boat on that one.
I agree on Juggernaut, though. The 2-pack is way better than the BAF. I will say though, at least the wave was pretty good. The upcoming Bonebreaker wave is going to have me either buying the entire wave just for the BAF, or just getting Siryn and chasing down parts. I don't know which is worse, TBH. |
Made a target run today..man those Eternals and AOA figures are EVERYWHERE! not only on the main shelves but on an endcap as well...still at full price. I hope they clearance them soon to get some new product out there.

Well, at least your Target store has the newer Age of Apocalypse X-Men figures in stock in the aisle where any X-Men wave series they dont last long in a day at a Walmart store.
You should be lucky/grateful to even find the new Age of Apocalypse figures in the Target store. Whenever I go to the Target store just to look around all they ever have are junk new Mego horror movie stuff along with pegwarming junk WWE figures and bunch of Barbie doll and a whole aisle full of Lego stuff |

More thoughts on the Dawn of X books.
Cable has turned out to be enjoyable. It was interesting to hear that the young Cable apparently murdered his older version. Not sure why, but whatever. The story with the robots was cool and the scenes with Deadpool (who is now a king) were entertaining. Hellions 1-4 were equally enjoyable and it was nice getting to see some D list characters get the spotlight. I did not expect to ever see Wild Child outside of AoA. Having Madelyn back from the dead was a bit weird though. I am curious to see where this leads to. X-Men Empyre (or is it Empyre X-Men, I'm a bit vexed on that aspect) was a bit odd. First we have a story revolving around Vulcan being some prince or something, but I guess it was a dream sequence leading to him blowing up some plant aliens who want to invade the Earth. Then we get Plants vs Zombies in the X-Men books which was far more entertaining than it should have been, especially when the Golden Girls showed up and mesmerized Angel. Their banter with Magik was awesome, so I'm curious to see where this leads. My only issue is I'm still waiting to know what is going on with the fight against the Brood because it seems like they forgot about that given how X-Men #10 didn't mention it one bit. I really wanted to hate X-Factor #1 only to find myself enamored by its murder mystery crime drama aspect. I will say that knowing Aurora is going to be brought back does diminish some of the impact of her dying, however. What's up with this Drakken dude? Is he supposed to be some woke Wolverine? Anyway, I highly enjoyed everything about this book and want to continue on with it. New Mutants introducing a new girl that can turn her nightmares real was better than I anticipated while Excalibur is starting to get way too convoluted for its own good. One thing that annoys me is that both Marauders and X-Force seem to have also taken a backseat for all of these new series that are taking precedence. It seems like every few books now feature an issue from them. Anyway, I think that's all I have at the moment. My library appears to stop at volume 15 so I guess I'm nearly caught up except for X of Swords, which is taking forever to come in. |
not surprising the mehternals are still clogging the shelves. Nobody wants these figures cause they came from such a dull looking movie.
