The waist joint on my Vanquish dude never attached securely, so I tried taking a screwdriver and digging in the torso. All that did was make it worse and not stay attached at all. So, uh, if anyone is interested in buying it for parts, let me know.

Today I discovered another PAK in my collection with a critical issue... when I was looking at my Dante DMC I saw... AGAIN, TWO SAME FEET. In this case two right feet... damn, I'm very angry, this is the third time it happens to me (kazuhira, Ninja and Dante) and the worst time was when I had Kratos on my hands with the arm broken and a missing blade... sh*t!! I'm so dissapointed, those figures are expensive and always... ALWAYS have QC issues. :( :( :( Then what? I just ordered another Dante... damn, damn!!! DAAAAMN you Square-enix products!!. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-g622hpgpd3...+11.40.08_.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-SYE5jM2SUG...6+11.42.04.jpg |
I think it's fair to say, square enix put all the budget into the paint and no time in quality checking or taking time to assemble figures properly. If it was once ina while, that would be bad luck but after what happened to Kaz, it's something on square enix's end. I wouldn't expect them to say or do anything it though.

So is there a way to get replacement parts for PAKs? My Lara Croft from the collector's edition didn't come with a climbing axe.

Even if you and me scale-back PAK purchases, there are plenty of other fans who will buy them. The best you can do is to inform folks about how sporadic the qc is. It really is a gamble buying these figures. |

Yikes. I had no idea there were so many QC issues with these things, and I really don't see how you guys put up with it.
My one and only PAK is the Lara Croft I just got with my copy of the game. I'll admit that the paint and detail is quite nice and I like it because it's a pretty good representation of the newly redesigned Lara but... man, are the joints on these figures ugly! It's distracting and really ruins the otherwise great sculpt. Luckily Lara gets so banged up in the game that I can probably make bandages/wraps to cover up the joints and it won't be noticeable, but otherwise, I don't know... other than the articulation with great range of movement I don't understand why these are so popular. |

If another company was making a similar line but better, and for the same price, I wouldn't be buying PAKs. I think PVC is used for construction because it's easier to sculpt/reproduce finer details with it than it is with stiffer plastics. However for as many strengths that PVC has, whatever weaknesses it has rears its ugly head in this line. |
Finally today I cancelled all my Paks orders, I'm so tired, for me It's a waste of money. I import everything because here in Spain, every figure is more expensive than the original price (the regular price for a PAK is 60-80$... in Spain 100-120$). I loved this line but I'm afraid in every buy I do, because it's a damn gamble. Today my Raiden Pak came with a QC issues in the paint of the chest, bad painted... two weeks ago I had the problem of the same feet on Dante DMC3... two months ago Kratos and Kazuhira... six month the Cyborg Ninja (more or less)... all of they has QC issues. If Square Enix someday changes the QC issues I'll back on the line, but not now, I have enough of all of this. Angry, tired, dissapointed, cheated, afraid, etc... it's a shame. I love the sculpt and articulations, but Im afraid of the QC issues. No more. Maybe with the money I'll save, I'll buy figures from kotobukiya.

does anyone have the figures to show the differences of the Fullmetal Alchemist figures in the Revoltech line versus the Play Arts line?
Also would I want Al in the Play Arts line cause hes bigger for the accurate ratios :-)? |

I just got an PAK Arkham Asylum Batman and he has two right feet. Can the foot be swapped out? Do you think Square Enix have any left to send out? Or do you guys think the Currently release Arkhma City batman uses the same foot mold and peg? Anybody here have 2 left feet batman?

I've been told that Arkham City Batman is actually taller than Arkham Asylum Batman, so I don't think a foot swap would be possible or look right. |
Thanks for your input guys. Yeah too bad their QC rep is bad. I have my eye on many more PAK figures but might have to reconsider.
Oh well if anybody has a two left feet batman out there, let me know maybe we can work something out, provided the feet can pop out. |
Holy crap what's the deal with that Metal Gear Raiden? He's already $180 on ebay and he just came out.

It's always a knife-twisting activity reading peoples' reactions to the Play Arts QC gamble. I've been notoriously lucky with the ones I own, stories like Kaz' are just really unfortunate. My only similar gripe would have been with my Chun Li figure, whose shoulder hinge snapped clean off.
Most of the recent PAKs I've bought have been solid, with the only problems being the occasional balancing issues that come with PVC figures of this height and weight. My most recent buy, the Halo 4 Spartan Warrior, is actually OUTSTANDING in finish and build quality. The only advice I can give with these things is 1) to order from a dealer that gets their stock from Diamond, 2) BE VERY GENTLE when manipulating the articulation for the first time, 3) NEVER use the freezing technique to free stuck joints and 4) to use the warm water method to loosen stuck joints instead of freezing. Local comic shops and dealers that order from Diamond Distributing can at least call Diamond to arrange for a replacement for a defective figure, it's how I got a replacement Chun Li free of charge. I caution against the freeze technique because of how brittle it makes thin plastic (which is often the cause of PAK breakage). The warm water method may soften plastic temporarily, which is preferable to hardening thin plastic since there's the chance it will bend instead of breaking during joint loosening. |
Only problems I've had with Square Enix figures was with the original Play Arts line. My Advent Children Cloud Strife took a shelf dive and his leg broke right off. My Advent Children Sephiroth can't use one of the hands he came with because the ball joint got stuck and snapped off. Took for-fuckin-ever to get the ball out of there. I also bought a Lightning figure from FFXIII that had two left open hands, but got that exchanged really easy.
I'm planning on eventually getting FFXIII-2 Lightning and female Commander Shepard, though FemShep takes priority. I'm also very interested in the Square-Enix re-interpretations of Batman, Wonder Woman, and Batgirl. |
