Who are the ninjas in the Wolverine Line? They aren't Hand are they?

It seems that it is Logan himself in ninja outfit.

They could be.

Or just Yakuza ninja.

Unless the Hand have timed out for Fox along with Daredevil, they can still use them. If they have timed out finally, they can just be part of Samurai's spy network or ninjas for his clan.

It's really easy to work around tbh.

jimsloth 02-11-2013 04:46 PM

Silver Samurai is part of clan Yashida, which eventually joined the hand. Don't see why they couldn't just leave it separate for the movie.

That isn't MU. It's Avengers Assembled, based on the cartoon.

Seriously, what crack-head decided we needed 3 Jean figures?

Wait, what? I assume you're referring to wave 2? Two of those are more than likely variants/running changes. I'm not sure why that's a bad thing, especailly considering how different AoA Jean is.

The wave is set up like this:

- Hawkeye (classic costume) / Variant: Hawkeye (modern costume)
- Wrecking Crew (Wrecker) / Variant: Wrecking Crew (Bulldozer)
- Black Panther
- Scarlet Spider (Kaine costume)
- Jean Grey (90's costume) / Variant #1: Jean Grey (Phoenix costume) / Variant #2: Jean Grey (AoA costume)
- BAF: Rocket Racoon

It's the standard "5 figures (but really more than 5 figures)" wave.

Even ignoring Jean though, the Hawkeye figures and Scarlet Spider look amazing!

It's MU compatible and comic styled. I'd say that's pretty close. Hell all of the Avengers Assemble figures are "comic series".

ultraman zoffy 02-11-2013 08:08 PM

It is pretty safe to say that I will be buying almost all of these new MU and ML figs, with a few exceptions here and there (Cloak, Dagger, 90's and short hair Jean are pass for me). With that sweet 4" Avengers Assemble Hulk thrown in for good measure. =) Too much good stuff, can't wait! I'll probably end up selling off a few of my older Toy Biz ML's for these updated versions.

Captain Nash 02-11-2013 08:49 PM

Nothing on the Moonstone and Black Knight molds we saw last year? That's disappointing.

I'm loving the new Rogue and Jean Greys though. Overall more impressed with the Legends showing than MU. Only one new figure we didn't know about for sure in MU I'm excited about, but will be buying Cloak & Dagger.

Shin Densetsu 02-11-2013 09:10 PM

Oh we're getting THAT Scarlet Spider...

Man I wish we were getting a new Reilly Scarlet Spider!

Optimatron 02-11-2013 09:19 PM

It doesnt matter because I boycotted the Fox X films after The Last Stand, but if that is what Silver Samurai looks like in The Wolverine...he looks retarded, although it's no surprise.

Why not just give him his normal "house of the rising sun" red stripes? The "Gremlin" face looks horrible. I pray that this franchise takes a dirt nap after this failure of a movie. Jackman is a horrible Wolverine, his movies are blasphemous crap. Marvel needs to save their X properties. I'm sure Days of Future past will be more convoluted shit. You could have basically called First Class generic mutant movie that remotely resembles the established characters.

Iceman 02-11-2013 09:32 PM

Last Stand got screwed switching a lot of staff up mid-production. The original plans were decent but then they brought in Brett Ratner and told him it needed to be finished faster than had originally been planned.

Jackman is a horrible Wolverine? ... What? And "his movies?" He's had one. It was awful but just one. The problem wasn't Jackman, who is the perfect Wolverine.

First Class was great. After two TERRIBLE movies, Fox turned things around. It got very good reviews and was generally very well-received by fans.

Would be nice if he was shorter. :D

yeah, he's way too tall. Although, a comic accurate Logan couldn't get much work as an actor.

Agreed. Jackman's Wolverine is the only time I've ever personally found Wolverine enjoyable as a character (Outside of when he gets beat up by Molly Hayes.)

X2 was a great movie on it's own, and while I haven't seen it in a few years, people forget that X1 was the best comic movie ever made for a long while. It and Blade showed Hollywood that if they treat comic movies seriously and with respect, then they will work, and people will want to see them.
It paved the way for Spiderman, for Ironman, for Batman Begins. Basically, it's the father of the modern age of comic adaptations.
It's one thing to not like it in it's own right, but it did it something right, and it also broke Marvels terrible track record for movies.
X-Men has had three movies, one spinoff, and one prequel, and only two of those were truely terrible (The spinoff, and 2. And most franchises usually have a horiible time with the third film and spinoffs). That's not exactly a trainwreck.

I beg to differ.

Crazy Jetty 02-12-2013 07:08 AM

Back when he did The Shining, Jack Nicholson would have been a wonderful Wolverine.

trebleshot 02-12-2013 08:08 AM

I always thought Glenn Danzig had the right look and height to pull off Logan. Of course, I have no idea what his acting skills are like beyond his stage show.

Back on topic, I'm still not sure I'm ok with Puck being a BAF. It just seems like a waste, when someone else could have taken his slot and he could have been a regular release. Really excited about some of the new figures coming (which I haven't felt for a while now), but I'm still worried about seeing them at retail.

MU distribution, like a Dalmation with bladder-control issues, has been spotty since last year.

Yeah I was surprised by Puck being the BAF as well. It would seem that since we got Blastaar in MU this would be a perfect opportunity to include him as a BAF. Other good choices IMO would have been Sauron, Shadow King, Nimrod, and Attuma I think they all have attributes that would set them up well for BAF rather than standard figure release.

Is the X-Force version of Archangel seen in one of the pics only there to taunt me or will it be released as a variant to the regular version?

Variant but it differs in paint job from the SDCC version.
