These look pretty nice! Looks like they'll fit in really well with the other Mattel GB's. |
They look decent to me, but I'm always looking for random figs as ancillary characters in display set-ups...they'll make good technicians (the same goes for the original line-up) in the background of photos featuring DCUC and Legends figs.

I don't think I'm gonna be seeing this movie, they really dropped the ball by dragging their feet with Ghostbusters 3, and now Ramis is dead and we're stuck with this. Oh well. |
@TheMattMan
Yeah, they look pretty corny, but that's what makes them perfect as schleps in the background. lol About the movie, I don't get the investment in Ghostbusters as a classic film that cannot be touched or redressed. I enjoyed it as a kid, but it will never mean that much as a franchise to me. As you mentioned with Ghostbusters 3, they waited too long and missed the window of opportunity. The only criticism I would level at this upcoming flick is that they should have cast funnier/more popular comedians for the reprised roles... |
I don't know what I think about GB any more. I used to love both the films and cartoon as a kid, but these days I find myself struggling to justify even the awesome Lego Firehouse set... Nothing I know about the upcoming movie gives me any confidence in it.
I actually quite like the figs though! |
I soo don't like how the 3rd movie is a reboot. This movie has A Lot to live up to. A LOT..
|
With this flick I hope for the best but expect the worst. Hopefully if it falls in-between I hope it falls on the good.

Thirty years of male dominated Ghostbusters and now men are whining about a single all female movie. Please, just stop, you're making us all look bad. If you don't want to see it, fair enough, but don't act like it isn't a perfectly reasonable, even desirable thing to do. |
I can't speak for the acting ability of the others, but Kristen Wiig in Skeleton Twins and Melissa McCarthy in The Nines were both really fantastic performances. I liked the concept for The Nines a lot, but even though it was long before she blew up, McCarthy was by far the most memorable part. In strict terms of comedy, it's up to each person what they like. A lot of folks don't like Bill Murray at all.
I think the figures could be better, but I'm impressed with the body variety and the likenesses are decent. I guess my question now is marketability and distribution. This is a huge leap for Mattel if they plan to put it in the boy aisle. However, if they put them in girl aisle, there could be controversy. I'll e interested to see how they play it. Will they also make Barbie versions? Regardless of opinions about the movies or figures, this is revolutionary in terms of what it is offering as a toy line. |

The reasoning on the reboot was because New York had been through so many big frights already. So why not move it to a different city? Like Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Seattle, and many other major ones. Then as ghosts show up, the scares will still be there because until faced with it themselves, it'll have been "Crazy New Yorker stories." Would have given them the original basis they wanted, and kept the continuity of the previous intact. Could have even let the new team upstage the old on the tech side too, and all around gave much more story room to move more freely while still respecting the original. Hopefully they have something interesting and big planned though with two teams getting movies. Wonder if they'll interact at all. Everything else I'm fine with on the movie. Want to see how it turns out. |

These figures don't look half bad. I'll look forward to them looking terrible in hand. I'm not psyched about this movie, but the amount of OUTRAGE in this thread is absurd.
It's Ghostbusters, people. It's a stupid franchise, fun, but stupid. If you think there's something wrong with our culture, do something about it other than freaking out on a toy forum. Again, it's Ghostbusters. It's hardly a status-quo changing franchise, and I doubt feminists will have won anything when it inevitably flops. It would be great if it didn't, but I have my doubts given the amount of ill will towards it in the first place. |

And come on guys, Kate McKinnon is incredibly talented. Both McKinnon and Wiig were phenomenal on SNL. Melissa McCarthy is admittedly pretty terrible, so I feel like she drags the overall quality down a bit. There are enough talented individuals attached to this thing that I've found reasonable cause for optimism, though. To pass final judgement on this before we've seen a millisecond of footage is asinine. |
