If they did the Lava predator I wonder if they are doing the kiler crab alien

There's no correlation there except that they're both red. Beyond his color scheme lava predator is still a fairly normal design. Killer crab alien on the other hand is a wacky creation, like an alien centaur. He'd be cool to see for sure but I feel like Spiked Tail would be a better predator reference because his pony tail makes him one distinct predator.

Just ordered a Mantis and Gorilla off of TRU.com. These will be my first NECA figures so I'm not quite sure what I'm in for, but these Kenner designs are just too rad to pass up.

As someone who got into NECA a couple of years ago my main advice is just to be cautious. For their price range NECA figures are some of the best looking toys available but their plastic is much less durable than the standard toy provided by the likes of Hasbro. It is not uncommon for joints to get paint-locked so having a heating method like a hair dryer is recommended to be able to free things up. My reference point for getting into NECA is if you collected McFarlane figures in the early 2000s when they were at the peak of their run, the figures looked fantastic but were often very fragile. NECA isn't nearly as fragile as McFarlane was but that awareness of needing to be careful has helped with my collecting experience.

I've been buying NECA for about 15 years and with each passing year, they just grow leaps and bounds in broad strokes. Sure, some lines or individual figures are plagued with issues, but if you look at the overall picture, it's just amazing how much they have grown. And, they have the momentum to continue to do so for many more years. I credit a lot of it to Randy's passion for the hobby. I love that they delay figures if they don't think they are up to snuff. That's really telling for a company. To always be thinking of new ways to thrill and entice is what every business, toy company or otherwise, should be 100% devoted to. Resting on your laurels is a quick slope downward. Kudos to NECA.

Just following on from ESN, I usually gently move every joint on opening to ensure I won't accidentally snap something way down the line. It's easy to assume in a month's time you know the figure inside out!
