Either way, I'm hoping we see the occasional EU/Legends character pop up in the line - I'm not a huge fan of the EU, but there's characters I have a soft spot for that I'd love to get. Mostly ones from the games, both good and bad - I'd be plenty happy to add Dash Rendar, Prince Xizor, Arden Lyn, and Starkiller to my collection. |
No wonder no-one took Mandalorians seriously after the last noteable example went around spray-painting her armor like a graffiti artist.
I hope later on in Rebels, Boba Fett will hunt down Sabine. That's a job he would even do for free for tarnishing his legacy (real life chronology-wise, that is, since the whole Mandalor thing started with his character) |
Sabine is a better character than Boba Fett ever was.

Pretty much every other character from Mandalore or with Mandalorian ties has more character than Boba. That's the long and short of it. I'm sure he'll get some new expanded character that's in-line with the current streamlined canon (given his long-standing Ensemble Darkhorse status), but until then, he's definitely more of a 'looks cool and that's it' character. I miss the mystique that used to swirl around Fett. That whole contrived "Jango" business turned my stomach, it was so lame.
That infuriating need to spend three movies forcibly intertwining otherwise-unrelated sub-plots and character origins and force the new, clumsy albatross down our throats is one of the main reasons why I found the prequel disappointing. (The origin of Vader stood out as particularly weak. People don't 'become' psychopaths; they either are or they aren't.) Anyway, like you, I still love the Fett character design. I wouldn't mind a nice, well-sculpted Mandalorian helmet for another display prop. |

It's implied that he's a shoot first, ask questions later-type with Vader's "no disintegrations" comment and that gets shown later on with him about to fire on Chewie and Vader stoping him. There's also the bit with him hiding in the trash to tail Han and pretending he didn't hear Luke in the hallway at Bespin..showing that he's pretty sneaky and calculating. And his dialogue with Vader shows he clearly only cares about money. It's pretty much all laid out there, what he's about. |

I'm not saying he has to be deep by any means, because he serves his role in the story well. I just think that using him as a barometer to measure other Mandalorian characters by is pretty weak, because a lot of his strength is from his design/presence and the impact of his actions, not his character and personality. Which is relating to the original point here: Quote:
