Because G.I.Joe (the only non-Transformers toyline involved in this set that is still/was recently running, and therefore, already has useable modern molds) has always been 3.75, so they already had the molds to easily make another Roadblock, and that scale doesn't look as oversized next to Transformers as 6 inch does.

I think we should veer away from this type of discussion, it isn't really suitable for the thread and if it escalates the mods would have to step in.

Rhodes' expanded side story stuff plays to his race as making it a point to his character, plus he's a reference to the Tuskegee airmen. So as a Pilot himself in the airforce, and then the second person to get an Ironman based armor(after Tony), it fits to his overall character metaphor as innately part of it.

Steve Rogers you're right about, part of his original character metaphor is that he's literally Hitler's ideal punching Hitler. So yeah, blonde hair blue eyes is needed for his original innate character metaphor. That being said, it was actually very common in WWI and WWII that minorities were experimented on. Marvel did do a miniseries that talks about that too. Patriot's relative is a super soldier from that and how Patriot eventually got powers from a blood transfusion from his relative.

He-man on the other hand is based off of Conan, which is Sumerian barbarians or something of that like but overtly americanized into a power fantasy. So that one's tricky to approach. Because of the innate satirical essence of it though, white does kind of fit there. But the others are all open for any interpretation. A black Man-at-Arms would be rather cool tbh. Which then makes Teela at least biracial. And now I want to see Idris Elba portray Man-At-Arms for a live action He-Man. That'd be awesome!

Wakanda the metaphor is innate. So no whitewashing there. The isolationist aspect of the nation prevents that. Except for Bucky in cryo. But the movie doesn't take place entirely in Wakanda either. At least from what the trailer suggests with the streets and cars from the outside world. So it's the outside world where Stan Lee would have his cameo.

Heimdal is different as his original nordic roots even suggest he was of a bronze-ish sheen in nature. People still complained though. But again, Asgard was written as an Alien race that vikings thought were gods, etc. Race wasn't really a factor to any of them as innate metaphors go. History and retellings of myths on down do tend to rewrite things.

It varies character to character. But Matt Trakker is on that open list where it's not part of his innate metaphor or persona.

i dig crossovers. And i have and would collect them in any scale, and any media, for that matter.

My childhood imagination was filled with "What if" scenarios of major heroes/villains between various properties. Seeing them onscreen, reading them in books/comics, or playing it out among my toys was exciting and fun. To this day, i continue to have fun discussions about X versus Y and how it could play out.

It made sense that Hasbro would combine their two of their biggest toy lines at the time with GI JOE and Transformers. While some stories could easily be forgotten, some of the artwork was satisfyingly spectacular. Various comic companies have had a turn to tell their tale of them too. This latest multi-crossover brings even more diverse properties to the fold.

Ah, didn't actually know all that about Rhodes, the Tuskegee thing actually does make a lot of sense. The overall ratio of white to non-white characters makes it a lot easier to point at white characters that could be race-changed instead of the other way around.

You must be confused. It's ok, you'll get well someday. ;)

'Whitewashing' - is that what they call it? What's the name for changing a Caucasian to something else?

He was always white, there was never any part of his nordic mythology that said otherwise. And I don't see why the whole re-write of lore couldn't work just as easily on Wakanda.

True, but since they already had a character (Hondo - my personal favourite- who drove my favourite vehicle - the Hurricane) they could just as easily have had him in charge of MASK rather than just race switch a pre-existing character for no apparent reason.

But I still don't have an answer to my original question: what prominent Marvel (DC?) characters that are non-white could you see being 'whitewashed'?

GI Joe is and always will remain 3.75"

Despite that, they weren't quite there yet in '78. The Metropolis depicted in the movie was pretty much all white...except for the pimp.

I love reading dumb, cranky ignorants rant about anecdotal opinions as if they're facts, and as if they are anything but spectators in a changing the world. This kind of stuff has been happening for years, how are you guys still getting mad about this stuff?

There is no organic way to replace or introduce new characters that are PoC, and that's because of you guys. But you're too up your own ass to realize it.

The direction this thread took over the last 12 or so hours is disappointing. Expected, but disappointing.
