Too bad these are not worth the price at all. Maybe around $40 would have been reasonable.

The Dark Knight - Two-Face 1/12 Scale Figure by Soap Studio - The Toyark - News

dukefett 04-04-2019 09:50 AM

Are there more promo pics or did they seriously not include a clean, well lit shot of the headsculpt?

They never do it is kinda annoying since they use too much dim lighting to hide their sculpts since their CW Flash and Arrow figures had really soft head sculpts. Even the 2 pack of Bruce Wayne and Ras my main issue is they seem not get the prices to be cheaper or have help with distribution to the states.

Since they really need to negotiate something with Blu Fin to help them bring their products in at retail price in the states since no one is gonna pay $100 or more on these figures especially how hard it is to find these for a reasonable price.

Only one they did have at retail with Reverse flash figure being only listed on Sideshow's site but it was stupid to just have it only listed on that site only.

So they really need to improve even talk to other online figure retailers because I don't see much hope with this line by them not fixing that issue yet.

The burnt effects on his jacket look awful...

HunterKnight 04-04-2019 12:39 PM

Barbies with cloth. Yawn.
Where are the real action figures?

The Dark Knight - The Joker 1/12 Scale Figure Preview by Soap Studio - The Toyark - News

dukefett 04-16-2019 10:11 AM

I appreciate the effort but this company needs to stop lol. This is like the 5th at least TDK Joker in this scale and by far the worst headsculpt. And the outfit is totally oversized. They can't be charging $80+ for these quality of figures.

BagJo 04-16-2019 10:46 AM

I have to agree with Duke, there have been SOOO many figures of Dark Knight Joker, and this is easily one of the worst looking.

Joe Moore 04-16-2019 11:02 AM

Every company has to start somewhere. It's rare that a newer product line comes out perfect immediately. I know Soap did a few vehicles prior to jumping into the 1/12 figure game, so this is still relatively new ground for them. But you hope they improve as time goes on, get better manufacturing, and release improved product.

Even Hot Toys had some really weak entries early on.

I don't recall Hot Toys ever looking laughable in comparison to their main competitor at the time, Medicom. These feel painfully subpar next to Mezco's offerings.

I guess we all have short memories. Some earlier Hot Toys releases now look like Hot Toys knock offs.

But, given time, experience, and a chance to grow, they've turned into what we have now. With some really stellar high end pieces.

Not every company grows and learns. I get that, but it takes time and experience to get to those high levels.

Black Arbor 04-16-2019 12:09 PM

I get that there's some growing pains with any new company, I really do, but I have to imagine they've seen what else is available on the market. If I started designing cell phones today, like really clunky, mid 90's extendable antenna phones, you wouldn't say "Hey, that's really good for your first time, I'll take one!", you'd say "why would I buy THAT when I can get an Iphone or Android that's like a supercomputer in my pocket??" It's impossible to judge things in a vacuum anymore, and if it were me running Soap studios, I wouldn't show it off til I thought it was perfect (and if that looks perfect to them, well, whoo boy...)

I'll just leave this here.

dukefett 04-16-2019 12:31 PM

The big problem is the price. They're charging premium prices for subpar products.

Hot Toys wasn't charging $250 per figure when Rocky was released.

That's my thing. If you have eyes you can see that the likeness is miles away from where it needs to be. I get making figures that other companies passed on, since there's a market there, the proverbial "hole in the collection" but if you know you're putting forward a release that is inferior to the other products already on the market, it's a bad move, plain and simple.

Back in the day the competition in the collector's market was virtually non-existent. Nowadays competition is fierce, product is plentiful, and consumer standards are much, much higher. If a company can't come out swinging they aren't going to cut it...especially if they're doing high-priced figures that have already been done to death by other companies.

It's like if a brand-new wireless company came out offering 2G flip phones and were all like, "we hope to get better with time." In today's marketplace, it ain't gonna swing.

Chopper Face 04-16-2019 04:30 PM

Woof.

No, but they were charging about $125 each in 2008, which I would still consider a premium price.

A better comparison would be Hiya Toys, whose first assortment of Aliens was pretty weak and with poor quality control. However, subsequent releases, such as the Predator line and more recent Aliens, have been far more improved.

They still have plenty of room for improvement, but they're beginning to put out higher quality items, thanks to the lessons they've learned early on. Now, the pricing is far lower than what Soap charges, but the potential arc is still similar.

It's up to Soap to improve their production for sure. It may not even happen with the DC line. But the potential is there for them to have higher quality items.

Way to steal my analogy ;) :D

That joker isnt bad at all. I wonder what made them go for that costume s opposed to his normal one, but I like it. That was a great scene still.

Skoob 06-06-2019 02:02 PM

I like it too. Looks good.

Harbinger 06-06-2019 02:48 PM

So the quality on the bruce ras two pack? Is it good or bad?
