When it comes to licenses I like, my personal feeling is that I'll happily buy anything they feel like putting out that I desire. I grew up watching F13 and never imagined as a kid having ANY toys for those films. Same with Predator, Alien, TCM, Child's Play, etc. I've been buying NECA for 15 years and my collection from them is mostly made up of figures I never thought in a million years I'd own.

If they want to sculpt a new figure once a year and fill the rest of the slots with repaints and variants to offset the costs of tooling, in order to guarantee all new figures can be made, then more power to them. I don't have to buy them. And, Randy's always been pretty clear that when they do offer a re-release, whether it's a repaint, a variant, or just a straight reissue, that that particular figure is not "taking the place of something else." If they didn't release that Jason repaint at that time, there would be NO F13 coming out.

Randy did say today on Twitter that all 3 of next year's Ultimates are completely new tooling. So…it is very likely that this upcoming figure is just a way to help ease the burden of those costs. I think many people forget that NECA, while the best toy company around, is a very, very small company. They are not Hasbro. They are not Mattel. They don't have massive pockets to dip into to get figures made. Those big companies can mass produce hundreds of figures a year, many of which peg warm like crazy, and they don't even bat an eye. I also laugh at people when they complain about NECA reusing parts or sculpts. Most of whom cream their Wranglers when Hasbro announces more Marvel Legends. Hmmmmm…...

Um, no. A Part 7 update has probably been the most requested NECA figure - Jason or otherwise - for ages now. A lot of people have also been requesting figures from The Thing, but Randy constantly shoots that movie down as being "too obscure," while regularly giving the okay to far more obscure properties.

I know a new Part 7 will get made eventually. I'm just being impatient. :)

Also, someone mentioned that 0 1/4 scale Jason figures were made and 1 upcoming. That’s not true...They made “New Blood” “Freddy vs Jason” and the 2009 Remake in 1/4 scale. I love talking on here, but very few of you seem to have collected NECA for more than 2-3 years...at least NECA Jasons.
Been collecting NECA Jasons since they started making them...what you don't seem to understand is that a lot of people think the early ones haven't aged well, and badly need to be updated.

As for some of the people posting in this thread forgetting about NECA's earlier Jason work, well, you're not wrong about that.

Yeah, the early ones lack the "action" part of action figures. They're just statues with 2 or 3 points of articulation.

And I don't mind Neca reusing parts. I think all the new Jasons use the same arms and lower body. In fact, you can reuse a lot of the parts for Roy. You just need new lower arms (since his sleeve buttons are closed), head, mask, and rubber shirt (similar to the jumpsuit wearing apes from the classic PotA line).

Unless there is a production shot, I don't consider "announcements" to mean anything. Stuff gets announced and later cancelled all the time in this industry for a variety of reasons, sometimes even after a production piece is shown off. Hasbro was notorious with that for Marvel Legends for years, as is Figuarts. Hell, Neca showed off that graphic novel based Shredder and Foot set years ago, and it was a figment of our imaginations until they finally decided to release them a year or two back at NYCC...

First you deny that more Jason Ultimates are in the works unless there's proof of an announcement, then when you're given said proof of said announcement you still deny it. You're hilarious.

Anyway, think whatever you want, dude. I give no shits.

Glad I was able to put a smile on your face bro. Certainly makes my day.

In today's world of bloat and gluttony in the entertainment industry, an announcement without some sort of production behind it...be it a mold in progress, a scene that's been shot, a physical set, or a trailer that's been put together...well, they hold about as much clout as one of my fluffiest farts in a stiff wind.

How's that Sinister Six movie working out? Or that Crow reboot they have been announcing for about 10 years now? Just saying.

It's no different in the toy world. For smaller companies like Neca, every toy released is essentially a kickstarter to fund the next one. This is going to be an interesting year for Neca, considering they are losing one of their biggest showroom supporters in TRU, so I personally am curious to see how they handle it. If they actually go and put out 3 more Ultimate Jasons in the next year on top of the two that have been shown off (and it shouldn't be that hard considering that they would just need to slightly retool Pamela and kid Jason, two molds that they already have) not only will I be (pleasantly) surprised, I'll be the first person here to eat that crow. But until they show me something, like a demon dagger, a bloody guitar, or a weed whacker, call me skeptical.

Believe me dude...I'm hungry for that ratbird. :)

Am I the only one who kind of wish the masks were removable... Sometimes I like to display them with other figures. I used to have my extra Part III Jason mask hanging from the NECA Freddy furnace.

I'm assuming that the movie mask head will have one of those clear plastic pieces built into the top so that the eyes will glow in sunlight. As to the other heads...since Neca seems to be moving towards the "Ultimate" format for their figures, I wonder if they plan on doing an unmasked head and another with the mask molded on instead of a removable mask in the future.

Fair enough. We shall see! :)

But if they DO release all of the announced Jason figures, you should have to do something like strip naked, cover yourself in chocolate pudding, and have someone film you running down your block while screaming and post it on YouTube. I think that's perfectly and fair reasonable.

The light effect is all paint, eyes do not actually light up

Fuck. I'm really going to have to buy at least three of these motherfuckers.

SpasticPlastic 09-05-2018 12:22 PM

Yep. I have 4 on preorder. Alternate heads are killing me.

Dolemite 09-05-2018 01:15 PM

I can skip the goofy movie poster mask with the red eyes, but the other three heads are rad. I'm scared, however, that I'll end up loving the poster mask when I have these fuckers in-hand and want a 4th figure. I will resist!

However, the good news of buying multiples is that, given NECA's QC issues, you'll likely be assured of at least having a perfect version of one of each head. :)
