Randy has never said where the problem lies. Those sets don't just deal with DC, as they also have to get approved by Dark Horse and FOX.

MarvelGuy85 07-20-2018 10:29 AM

That Deluxe Assassin Predator looks mighty nice! Can't wait to see the final painted version.

The Heat 07-20-2018 10:34 AM

I think Randy said the Assassin Predator is supposed to be 12" tall or something. Am I misunderstanding this, or is it not in the 7" scale? Is he just a gigantic boss-fight Predator or something?

He's in the 7" scale but actually does stand up to 12" tall. Did you not see him in the newest trailer? He's HUGE.

Yeah, he towers over the other characters in the film. The figure will be about 12" tall, but that will be the correct scale to display with the other figures.

Bearjew 07-20-2018 11:46 AM

Your water mark is really killing my view of the Predators nipples. Cant you get any pictures without the watermark so it does not disrupt my view of the nipples?

Lol, really though that Deluxe Predator is incredible. That guy with the other predator clan?! It is going to look excellent. The ankles are weird looking but I think that is only because i did not expect them to bedifferent from the other smaller models.i am looking forward to seeing how they articulate.

I may have to get two of these.

Vesely 07-20-2018 12:34 PM

This 2 pack of Chucky and Tiff looks beter than ultimate chucky

Villano 07-20-2018 08:08 PM

Anyone else notice that the Hornhead Predator is no longer covered in blood? Definite improvement IMO.

NECA did an interview with Toho Kingdom on the Godzilla line. Here are some highlights one of the users over there typed up. Consider me optimistic.

Quote:

There are plans for additions to their video game line, as NES Godzilla did really well. Randy would "love to do 'em all" from the games (Super Godzilla being brought up earlier by Chris), but movie incarnations take priority, especially after the recent lull.
Warner Bros. was acting as a licensing agent, which slowed things down considerably when it came to getting Toho approval. But now NECA works directly with Toho, so ideas & concepts can be presented much more quickly. Toho has been very happy with everything NECA has made so far, so revisiting rejected ideas like HB Godzilla, Marvel Godzilla, and particularly Ghost Godzilla are possibilities. They "talk constantly".
The new relationship being established with Target will be treated similarly to how NECA worked with Toys "R" Us, so collectors have some easy way to access their products.
NECA checks out what figures that've been done by other companies or featured in other toy lines (Bandai, Figuarts) to get an idea of what to create - and to even get an idea of what things that might not have been touched that could be done. But they also do check on sales for figures. However, if a monster can be easily re-used or re-tooled in some way (atomic blast variants, for example), those end up higher on the priority list, as those allow NECA to keep their prices for figures down.
Atomic Blast Shin Godzilla has been sitting on the backburner for a year and a half - originally, Shin was Japan-only, but now that NECA works directly with Toho, that's no longer an issue.
Atomic Shin expected to hit retail late September/early October.
Poster Godzilla 1954 expected to hit retail "holiday/Christmas".
Godzilla 1962 expected to hit retail "right at the beginning of the year [2019]".
Due to the license and previous deal with Bandai with mass market, NECA could only make Godzilla figures, but that is no longer the case. They have at least 2 dedicated sculptors working exclusively on Godzilla content.
For 2019 Godzilla: King of the Monsters, they're working on making figures for everything that appears in the movie. As some might remember, originally NECA denied doing figures for the movie, but "the patience has paid off"! They were able to work things out.
Randy would love to do 24" versions of Godzilla 1954 and even NES Godzilla.
NECA has an established scale for their figures, which may result in some bigger boxes & higher price points for some monsters.
They will NOT be reusing their Godzilla 2014 sculpt for Godzilla 2019 - the CG "has evolved", so it will be "100% new tooling, more articulation, better engineering".
Randy feels they relied "too much" on the 3D file for G2014, but what they're doing with G2019, they'll be handling it differently, which will hopefully result in higher detail (sculptor who worked on G1962 & Shin will also be working on G2019).
Randy is aware of the demand for Showa figures - they "will definitely do some of that". But they also try to think outside the box, like in other lines how they occasionally do figures from video games, comics, etc., so the Godzilla line will be treated similarly. "I hope we can hit on them all, there are fans for all of them, [even] Godzilla 1998."
The whole Tamashii and NECA releasing similar figures at the same time is totally coincidental. Even Randy looked pretty bewildered
As there aren't 3D files for the "classic" Godzilla figures, NECA picks up DVDs and Blu-rays, getting screengrabs, looking at model kits, vinyls, to try and see how they can design their versions.
Packaging has been using a "style guide" for the last few releases that had been developed by/on behalf of Toho with Bandai, but Randy hopes to make "individualized or personalized looks for each film" for each release. With packaging, they want something "more interesting" than what has been used with past releases. There could also be additional accessories like beam effects.

thats awesome news! 2 sculpters dedicated to Godzilla means some awesome reveals for next sdcc probably. I really want a mothra to hang from the ceiling

wormser 07-22-2018 08:06 AM

Good and bad with this years sdcc for me really.

Awesome new licenses but they are mostly in clothed/mego style and I don't collect them. I would love to get the Karate kid, Ace Ventura, and even the Golden Girls in 7" format. And if they think a Golden Girls line will sell, why not an Airplane movie line or at least a Ted Striker? I would kill for that! I would actually break down and buy a clothed/mego figure if they made that.

New T2 Kenner line is cool to see. I loved the "power arm" Terminator as a kid. Glad to see they will release him. The color changing T1000 looks awesome too. Best part of the line is the John Connor. And the Kenner version came with a dirt bike. Look at the hands on the new one. Looks ready to go riding to me.

More TMNT can only be a good thing. They will sell like hot cakes and help fund more stuff. Great progress on that front. I gotta sell my 1/4 scale TMNT figs and use the cash to get the 7" scale versions. If anyone is looking for them...

The amount of new licenses is great and the Godzilla expansion is probably the coolest news from them to me. But Neca, more 7" format with some new licenses please!!!

Trivial Psychic 07-22-2018 09:40 AM

With SDCC being almost over, does anyone heard anything as to when NECA will start shipping out those TMNT sets to those lucky enough to have gotten them during the presale?

Yes, they've said when pre-orders went live they would begin shipping the week after SDCC.

hasbroherofan 07-22-2018 10:41 AM

I'm almost certain since he's just a "normal" predator that he basically exists just to take a jobbing and then die so we can all see how "badass and awesome" the new huge predator is. If the poster is anything to go on I fear for Fugitive's safety.

Skoob 07-22-2018 01:54 PM

Clearly, a sequel will be necessary for yet another predator to right past wrongs.

ReyalS 07-22-2018 04:25 PM

I really like the look of this new Assasin Predator. It's huge, without looking like a football player (uh-hum... AvP). Neca is doing a great job with the PREDATOR'S and ALIEN lines... still giving us fans of both Franchise something to look forward to every year.
