Come on Mattel...

Re-release the Spinosaurus, still, that Indominus looks sweet....

soundwave810 02-19-2019 01:51 PM

Wow, no love for WWE Retro figures?

Yup, but they'll bounce back after some restructuring and removing some issues.

That or will eventually be merged into another company.
So far, the only things performing well is Hot wheels, Barbie, Superhero girls, Jurassic World, and Mega Construx. DC main lines have been under performing lately as well. And they don't really have any prolific self-owned properties that are at market currently outside of She-Ra that's doing well but has no toyline, and Barbie material. With potentially Toy Story and some other Disney stuff lifting them up a little more too.

And a large chunk of that has been mismanagement in those other departments. Once those have been reconfigured, and they get back to highlighting and pushing some self-owned properties to regain their footing better again and some smart investments on lucrative big licenses, they'll get back on the hot wheels track they've been flinging themselves off of.

They need a bit of a shake up anyway. But this does mean that we are likely to see some better material coming out of them later as they build up to restore their company presence at market and in media.

That or "Has Mat" toys may actually become more than a gag.

That being said, that Batman figure is growing on me more and more as it's a really neat concept throwback to the original movie toy. For nostalgia's sake. I kind of want that now, and I don't normally buy DC multiverse 6" stuff as I'm not a 6" collector. (Though have been looking into it anyway for Spoiler, Robin, and Batgirl.)

I'm willing to bet anyone who is interested in a Toy Biz 1989 Batman would have preferred an actual Keaton Batman figure. As it is, the figure doesn't look all that good, even keeping in mind what it's meant to be. Oversized head with a broken ear, cheap thready cape, the gauntlet details are wrong(meaning they don't match the Toy Biz figure either, not just the movie suit), and the bat symbol is sloppily painted on. It looks like someone modded the DCUC black suit Batman figure.

I had an old, scratched to hell Toybiz 4” (I think) Batman toy I had since the first movie. Only thing to survive. I used to have the bat mobile, joker, and bat cave play set. I chucked the Batman when I got the 7” Neca Keaton Batman. That is a really nice piece.

I had the Toybiz stuff too. The Batman, Joker, Batmobile and Batwing. I missed out on the Batcave and Bob.

Still, the DC Multiverse Signature line got my hopes up about getting an actual Keaton Batman since it was about delving into older film and TV properties, so I can't be anything but disappointed in this figure. It's not as lazy as repainting a pre-existing DCUC figure and calling it Super Powers or Superfriends, but it's close.

Answering my own question: a representative of Mattel has posted a response on Instagram that the 6in. Jurassic Park/World line is still in motion with new info being released closer to the summer.

Weapon X 03-03-2019 04:28 PM

Mattel is finally stepping up with the articulation. Glad to see it.

Really hoping that Poison Ivy comes to fruition...because I may or may not have already started to buy tiny plastic plants to surround around her...I don't have a problem or anything...:D

Augustus_Cole 03-03-2019 09:12 PM

Kinda feels like an inmates have taken over the asylum situation here...but I'll take confirmation where I can get it...;):p

I thought toys that educated and excited were promoted. These actually dumb down kids. 30 years ago it was just logical theory about dinosaurs and feathers, today it’s fact.

Hopefully the next World movie is the nail in the coffin for this geriatric series. I say that as a HUGE fan of the novels. The movies have got to go extinct.

I have got to ask this. Did you Miss when Hasbro or Kenner had the License?? Hasbro Poorly Scaled, Horrible Sculpting, Lackluster paints, and Stationary Articulation. Kenner was even worse. You want something that Looks like the "Real" thing you know that Virtually Impossible. In order to see a Dinosaur you'd need to go back 65 million years or Longer. I admit I don't like Mattel's Articulation but it's a needed Improvement over Hasbro and Kenner

Wonderful Toys 03-25-2019 09:45 AM

When Kenner had the license, standards were entirely different, since it was over 20 years ago.
