That or will eventually be merged into another company. So far, the only things performing well is Hot wheels, Barbie, Superhero girls, Jurassic World, and Mega Construx. DC main lines have been under performing lately as well. And they don't really have any prolific self-owned properties that are at market currently outside of She-Ra that's doing well but has no toyline, and Barbie material. With potentially Toy Story and some other Disney stuff lifting them up a little more too. And a large chunk of that has been mismanagement in those other departments. Once those have been reconfigured, and they get back to highlighting and pushing some self-owned properties to regain their footing better again and some smart investments on lucrative big licenses, they'll get back on the hot wheels track they've been flinging themselves off of. They need a bit of a shake up anyway. But this does mean that we are likely to see some better material coming out of them later as they build up to restore their company presence at market and in media. That or "Has Mat" toys may actually become more than a gag. That being said, that Batman figure is growing on me more and more as it's a really neat concept throwback to the original movie toy. For nostalgia's sake. I kind of want that now, and I don't normally buy DC multiverse 6" stuff as I'm not a 6" collector. (Though have been looking into it anyway for Spoiler, Robin, and Batgirl.) |
I'm willing to bet anyone who is interested in a Toy Biz 1989 Batman would have preferred an actual Keaton Batman figure. As it is, the figure doesn't look all that good, even keeping in mind what it's meant to be. Oversized head with a broken ear, cheap thready cape, the gauntlet details are wrong(meaning they don't match the Toy Biz figure either, not just the movie suit), and the bat symbol is sloppily painted on. It looks like someone modded the DCUC black suit Batman figure.

Still, the DC Multiverse Signature line got my hopes up about getting an actual Keaton Batman since it was about delving into older film and TV properties, so I can't be anything but disappointed in this figure. It's not as lazy as repainting a pre-existing DCUC figure and calling it Super Powers or Superfriends, but it's close. |

Mattel is finally stepping up with the articulation. Glad to see it.

Really hoping that Poison Ivy comes to fruition...because I may or may not have already started to buy tiny plastic plants to surround around her...I don't have a problem or anything...:D

Kinda feels like an inmates have taken over the asylum situation here...but I'll take confirmation where I can get it...;):p

When Kenner had the license, standards were entirely different, since it was over 20 years ago.
