My guess is a second wave of new figures will be shown this weekend at power con. I will hold back my disappointment for now. If we are shown nothing else then this is a crappy way to get us back into the line. Most of the fans that collect these, already own these figures. They might as well of shown Mattel figures at this point. But I believe there is a plan, I will trust it....for now.

Exactly! Mattel couldn't secure enough support for the original line 4 years ago, so what makes Super 7 think they can do it now simply by offering minor upgrades of figures we already own? We need a LOT more incentive than a few new accessories to invest in it a 2nd time around. If there's somehow a bunch of new collectors out there that missed these the first time and can fund this new line, then where were they when we and Mattel needed them 4 years ago?

Why does it matter how he "spins it?" He's a single person giving an opinion on something. Just like anyone on the forums. If he fawns over it, that's his right. and same if he shreds it. I doubt that'll affect his access to any figures.

Don't know why so many people think the reviewers are celebrities or have some magical powers. They all buy their cheerios at Walmart just like everyone else.

It doesn't matter. I'm just eager to hear what he thinks of this reveal. I love his enthusiasm and watch his youtube channel regularly, but I hope he doesn't just fawn over this as you said without addressing the obvious disappointment from many of us by the lack of new figures. He has more influence than us lowly toy collectors posting to message boards, so I hope he brings up the complaints and even addresses it directly with Flynn at Power Con this weekend. If Super 7 doesn't bother to reveal anything more at the show (which I suspect will happen), then hopefully Dan can at least dig a little more info from him in a direct interview like he did at SDCC.

I think S7 could've made everyone happy (or at least content) if they mixed the re-releases with new figures, that would've been ideal,IMO.
And even at the very least..open preorders for the re-releases AND either unveil or tease a new character or just simply announce that more figures are coming.

optimuslivs4evr 08-12-2019 03:20 PM

I'm not sure why I keep reading that the line ended because if lack of sales or interest. The way I understood it at the time, the line was dead before it even came out because Mattel killed Mattycollector. That's why super 7 was given the license for the motuc line.

OriginalFire 08-12-2019 03:24 PM

I'm just happy we have these. Beggars can't be choosers. At least I'll have some Thundercats before I am dead.

Dr Kain 08-12-2019 03:24 PM

:D $45 PLUS shipping. :D :D :D :D

The same figures Mattel already did with all of their outdated articulation and decade old reused parts. :D :D :D :D

Does Super 7 think they are Bandai and this line is part of the Figuarts one? :D :D

Out of all of the 80s toy line revivals, I have never seen any fanbase get fucked over as much as the Thundercats one. Is it any wonder why I stopped being one? :D

I'd at least like to know why Grune and Jaga aren't part of this initial wave. They were 2 unreleased figures from Mattel's line, so they are already sculpted, and Super 7 had them on display at last year's Power Con as an obvious tease that they would be reviving the Thundercats line this year. So um.... where are those 2 figures?? Is their absence due to Super 7 supposedly having to start all over with sculpting these figures rather than using the original tooling Mattel already created? Someone stated earlier in this thread that Super 7 can't use the same tooling for the other existing Thundercats since they don't have access to Mattel's moulds, but these figures revealed today sure do look identical to what Mattel released 4 years ago. Aside from the extra heads and accessories, I don't see a thing different about them. so are they really all new sculpts or not? And if not, then why aren't we immediately getting the original Grune and Jaga too that Super 7 has access to?

Tony_Bacala 08-12-2019 03:45 PM

I really think it's fine they are doing these re-issues, there are a lot of folks who didn't get the originals, and it's good / needed to start fresh.

As people said, PowerCon is this weekend, so hopefully they show off future figures, new molds. Give clarity on the future of the line. That is all I would have wanted at launch in addition to these even if it means waiting for these to come and go first.

If they didn't have access to Mattel's stuff, the Four Horsemen redid their original work to the T here, they are from a distance the same. Jaga / Grune would be in the same boat, whichever way it is.

That being said, I personally think they should be pushed farther down the road. Tygra, Cheetara, Slithe, Ever Living Mumm Ra. Get them out and then I'll consider going deeper roster. Until they are out I don't trust this line will ever complete the core. Nothing against Super 7, just TCPTSD (Thundercats Collector PTSD).

That one's easy. I passed because I refuse to buy Mattel products 99% of the time.

Are you passing this time too? It's basically the same figures for $10 more, regardless of a different company offering them.

SpasticPlastic 08-12-2019 04:01 PM

Nope. I'll be getting them. I just don't support Mattel.

Some of this is true. If this line ends, which I don't think it will, the I think it will be the end of companies trying to do Thundercats. However, the Loyal Subjects stuff apparently did well.

Well said. Its good they started this way. I have read some comments that people sold their old stuff off, so this gives them a chance to buy new stuff, and if you missed out u can get into it now. The new accessories are really nice and the new darker hair on Lion-O looks good. There was a suggestion made that the original line didn't sell well, and that is why it ended, but Mattel seemed to be moving away from doing 80s to lines a few yrs ago. I don't know. I'm just really really happy we are getting some figures. Transformers, MOTU, TMNT seems to have survived the 80s but not Thundercats. Its hard to believe that this line will fail, because if it does where do they go. There have to be at least enough fans to allow Super7 to do make to order stuff, because that is what they do. I think there was a Jaga done, Pumyra was done and there was another character that was shown off last year i think. I'm sorry I don't know my Thundercats as well as I should or as well as my Transformers.

The extra hands and stuff justify the price for me. On a side note, your the second Pixel Dan hater I have come across in the last 24hrs. I didn't know people didn't like him. I like him. I think he does a good job. But to each his own I guess.

Comedian 08-12-2019 05:02 PM

Someone asked Brian on face book and he said there are 16 more figures coming.

I don't hate him -- quite the contrary. Did you not see my follow up post? I watch his youtube videos regularly and love his commentary and reviews on toys. I just worry he's going to gush like a fanboy over Thundercats being revived without addressing the obvious concerns when he no doubt does a video about this announcement soon. As I said earlier, he has direct access to guys like Flynn and gets one-on-one interviews with them, unlike any of us, so I hope he interviews Flynn on video at Power Con and brings up these issues rather than simply kissing butt and saying "Wow, Thundercats is back! That's great!" because the future of this line is a big concern and what was revealed today is not a promising start.

ludovicotek 08-12-2019 05:17 PM

Wow. Toy collectors are the most fickle bunch on the fucking planet.

The Mattel Thundercats figures were excellent. Its perfect for Super 7 to relaunch this way. They had no choice. Imagine the whining and crying if they didn’t reissue Lion-O. People can easily jump in now and it’s cool that people can now get Mummra without having to buy a subscription (which was the only way to get him before). Already own these? No worries. Don’t buy them. Wait for the next wave to jump back in. This is just a level set.

Try and be happy that we’re getting another go at this line.

It's easy to say that IF there was greater confidence in this line lasting, but after so many failed starts with Thundercats in the modern toy industry, it's hard to have faith in getting much more beyond wave 1. I just dread 6 months from now Super 7 telling us "Well... we didn't quite hit the sales numbers were were hoping for with wave 1, so we're not going to do a 2nd wave." (because too many people who already own these figures passed on them without assurance that there would be something NEW coming too.). $180 is a lot to pay for 4 figures (whether you already own them or not) without any strong indication we'll get more after that.

No I didn't see your other posts. Sorry.I am hoping he will ask questions also, even the hard ones. You could also send Super7 an email with your concerns

Contrary to popular opinion, Pixel Dan is not a big Thundercats fan. He only had Lion-o as a kid. He follows it and posts news on it mostly because of its association with motu and because his fan base cares.

Pizza Man Z 08-12-2019 06:33 PM

I hope we see a corrected Lion-o with the same length of legs. Mattel's was awesome but his right leg is just a little shorter than his left.

LOL, love the TCPTSD. I think all of us Thundercats Fans are starting to feel this.
