Lets talk about variety and the so many Batman and so many Superman versions. Considering that a Mattel DC universe wave usually had between 5-7 characters, just like Marvel Legends. How many characters has McFDC wave 1? Let see:

Well, looks like there's a better variety en the wave 1 than we had in every Mattel DC wave, and also Marvel Legends. We have 7 figures, 7 different characters, with one Batman, one Superman and even a Bat vehicle. Additionally, we have 4 more Batmen, including the Hellbat suit and the Batman Who Laughts! And 2 Supermen, including the Unchained armor.

I'm sorry but the true is: wave 1 has a REALLY good variety in comparison with Mattel and Hasbro.

4 Batman figures and 3 Superman figures does not equal good variety, even in a wave that big, along with all their related characters. There's only TWO characters in this huge wave that have no direct connection to either Superman or Batman (Green Arrow and Green Lantern). A Flash or Wonder Woman would have added better variety in this wave than some of the Superman or Batman variants. Here's hoping the next wave isn't so unevenly balanced toward Batman/Superman themed characters too. At least we can (presumably) count on Bruce Timm animated versions of Flash, Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl, and Martian Manhunter at some point if Macfarlane intends to complete the main 7 Justice League team. Although I'm not really enthusiastic about those either after already getting the DCC versions.

Not sure I believe that, at least compared to DC Classics. A wave of 13 McFarlane figures (not including the variant) and it has 3 Bats and 3 Supermen? Rounding down, that's a 1/4 of the wave each, so roughly 1/2 of the wave is variations of the same 2 characters. I may be wrong, but I can't remember a single DC Classics wave that had 2 versions of the same character (that wasn't a variant figure, so I don't count those), so of a 7 figure wave, each figure was only 1/7 of the wave, and even when they did 5 figure waves, it was only 1/5, so yeah, there was more variety in your average DCUC wave than here :)

I think the figures are broken up a bit shipment wise. Retailers are listing it like this. Not 100% on actual case packs though.

So, theoretically as different ones sell out, they can be restocked with newer items later more easily than if it was all 1 SKU. Target won't read it as "well, we have 50 figures left at this store so don't need any new ones sent yet"

That WICK is MAFEX, and the Iron Man at end is SH Figuarts.

So, upon second round of play with these guys - Batman Who Laughs does have some torso articulation. The ball joint is under a hollow rubber jacket, so there is some movement. But the torso/jacket is one piece and semi rigid, so you aren't getting ab-crunch style posing. Just a little give here or there.

How do you feel about Superman's hands? Some shots make them look a little tiny haha

They seem fine to me. The thing that is a little off putting is that they painted the ball peg they use for wrist articulation blue like the sleeve, so the hand's skin color stops abruptly.

Now, if they painted the ball skin tone, that may have also looked weird the other way.

I am ok with ball joints and cuts throughout my figures, not everything has to be 100% photo realistic. They are toys, and I can mentally block that out most times. I dug the way the hands slip on and off. Posing is a little pita with them, but there is no perfect wrist/ankle joint I've found yet. And this is a 20 dollar figure. So on most of them I am ok with it. Supes might have done better with a pegged hand that goes into a slot in the arm at the sleeve point, but that would be a whole new design style for the one figure.

Tony, by any chance do you have an image comics anniversary Spawn figure that you could take a pic of Bats with? (the one that came with a cross). Would love to know if they scale together.

It's not McFarlane's responsibility to make sure his Multiverse line scales with Mattel's Multiverse line. And with Spin Masters making 4" and 6" figures, McFarlane would be contractually obligated to make his figures in a different scale like 7".

BAF's are just a gimmick to encourage sales; they aren't the sole reason for them. There have been several Marvel Legends figures over the past few years that have lacked a BAF piece but sold incredibly well. Also, there are a lot of Marvel Legends collectors that have been unhappy with the BAFs for the past couple of years due to the older BAFs have been getting single carded re-releases (with superior paint decos) and the more desirable BAFs are currently being put in waves with many undesirable characters.

If you watch Jay C's interview with Todd, he talks about the BAF concept and only using 3 figures at a time to complete something as opposed to 6 figures which often requires collectors to purchase figures they may not want. The first couple of BAFs (or CnC if you'd rather) will be Batmobiles but they are also considering diorama pieces like the Batcomputer.

In Jay C's interview, Todd stated that retailer support for GoT dried up when the show ended. His company is trying to make more figures but finding a retailer is a problem at the moment.

Jesus, MV just dropped a huge Killer Croc Batman wave and this is what we get from the 'new' and 'fresh' manufacturer? Way to go out on a limb DC. At least with DCUC we got a first wave of Etrigan, Penguin, Batman, Metamorpho, Red Tornado and Orion. Geez

I saw the regular and animated Batman figures at a toy show earlier today, the seller wanted $40 for each of them which was pretty damn funny (he also wanted $30 for a Marvel Legends War Machine figure that's readily available for half that price at Walmart). From an in-box glance they looked okay, again I personally just can't get over Batman's weird anatomy.

I really like the look of the animated line, I hope they at least try and fill out the main JL/JLU lineup in the first few waves. Announce the next wave as Wonder Woman, Hawkgirl and Martian Manhunter and I will buy all of them.

I honestly like the DCC animated figures better, but I can see the appeal of these :p Semi-related to the topic and your avatar, but I'm pissed McFarlane never did any cool Steven Universe toys!!! All we got were those weird knockoff LEGO'Ss haha

I like those too, but I prefer the headsculpts on the McFarlane ones, and they are about 25% cheaper.
I'm still bitter about that too, I just hope we get some kind of Steven Universe action figures eventually.

Im sorry, the comments about variety have no much sense.

The McFDC wave has 7 different characters plus a bat vehicle, a common DCU and ML has 5-7 figures. We got 7 totally different characters, that means the number of a huge DCU or ML wave plus a vehicle, additionally we have 7 mores characters. Basically we got more variety not just because we got more than/or the double of figures of DCU or ML waves. Comparing 7 vs 7, there are 7 different characters plus a vehicle, and we all know that there are a lot of waves with just 5 figures, but the variety didnt finished there with just 7 totally different characters (and the vehicle), we got representations of Batman and Superman from different universes, eh guys do you remember the name of the line? It is DC Multiverse, including the current Best Seller Hellbat Suit and the Batman Who Laughs.

The Hellbat Suit is still #1 Best Seller on Amazon with even better sales than 2 different versions of Baby Yoda who is a current pop culture trend.

I believe a better argument will be about characters not related with Batman or Superman, maybe? Because this better wave's variety than common DCU or ML is focused in Batman and Superman, and particullarly more different characters related with Batman. The part of the wave focused in the Multiverse is totally focused in Batman and Superman.

But be realistic, Todd needed to offer a solid start, of a brand named DC Multiverse, Batman and Superman characters are the center of the DC Universe, particullarly Batman. How not to offer these variety of characters based on matching the number of a huge DCU and ML wave. Additonally, offers a vehicle and 6 figures focused in Batman and Superman Multiverse? Particullarly in Batman. Preorders were quickly sold out on BBTS and Walmart. McFDC figures are a current sales hit even on Amazon. Todd's strategy totally worked.

For future waves it should be expected to be focused in other characters, like the 2 Wonder Woman versions listed on Walmart, just around the Movie release. It was a smart move not to offer a Wonder Woman in the first wave but wait to the movie.

Dude, no one gives a crap about variety anymore, now that the figures are out we're judging other stuff about them, get with the times!

None of them can get super low standing on both feet per say, but you can get some dynamic fighting poses on TBWL and others.
