FINALLY. Found one that was perfect. No excessive glue and/or scuffs/scratches with the dome, better paint overall (especially the tongue & teeth), plus it has the great new hips. The paint details under the dome are a little darker as well. Big improvement. NECA finally delivered on the Big Chap shown in the promo shots...you just have to wade through all the ones with glue QC issues.

BTW, the way to tell if the Ultimate Big Chap you're looking at is the new one with the upgraded hips (aside from the clear dome, of course) is if the torso is being held in place with a black sandwich bag-style twist tie instead of the usual black wire ones. Just the torso will have it, everything else will still be using the regular wire ties. If both torso has a black wire twist tie, it's the old figure.

While it's nice to see that they updated this release I'm happy with the initial version I nabbed back in March. I've also still got the series 2 Big Chap for having one with the clearer dome.

That one does look better. I wonder if the darker dome on the earlier ones was trying to hide the nose issue. If that's the case it didn't really work very well.

Saw one of newer ones at Walmart today, but didn't pick it up.

It actually looked great except I could see what looked like either glue or paint that had been touched while it was still wet on several areas. The search continues. Also still nothing new at Target.

Could you take a pic from the side? I want to see if the dome is attached in the same way.

I have the figure kinda buried at the rear behind a few others on my Alien shelf, and it took a while to set everything up just right, so I'm not about to dig it out and start all over again. But I tried to get the best side shot I could under the circumstances.

But after looking at the original release and this one, everything about the sculpt and how the dome is attached is exactly the same. They just did away with the excessive black spray and made the paint under the dome more subtle.
