But, Kickstarter is stating $25 for shipping in the US...Please confirm.

Thanks

McFarlane removed that bit from their website. So I guess there's no free shipping.

Comedian 04-08-2020 02:28 PM

I backed the highest set! I’m very excited for these and I hope more is to follow.

I know, right. Lol

I don’t think over a million is out of line for this.

Leo Primus 04-08-2020 02:41 PM

Uh, are they adding articulation to a figure that has a pre-posed torso? Yuck.

Black Arbor 04-08-2020 02:53 PM

I think it's funny how the majority of us were skeptical of this Kickstarter, and now it's making mad cash! Just goes to show how many people are Spawn fans and aren't even on the toy forums haha

Dolemite 04-08-2020 02:53 PM

Wow. So much for all the nay-sayers. That Kickstarter blew past it's goal and then some in record time. Obviously there's a ton of demand for this figure.

Now, of course, we all know that the figure will indeed have the same articulation as McFarlane's DC stuff, essentially.

You're either fucking delusional or didn't watch the video and are making shit up, because other than mentioning that the cape hinges he doesn't say anything whatsoever about the new Spawn figure's articulation.

The figure doesnt have an ab crunch but the render clearly shows the torso has multiple cuts and appears to have a ball joint.

Although is there is no ball joint, then the torso is probably the least articulated part of this figure.

dukefett 04-08-2020 03:20 PM

They're almost at 3,000 backers and well over $300,000 total, average purchase is about $130 right now, talk about a success.

Likewise. I still have my Series 1 and Image 10th Anniversary Spawn in unopened packages.
My inability to get the MK11 Spawn since it's launch has been somewhat grating, so this is a welcome surprise, but I do hope there is a bit more investment in the articulation design in the torso, at least, to allow for a more neutral pose.

Yeah, it wasnt mentioned in the pixel dan toyfair interview but he did say something about implementing articulation in a recent interview, I just dont remember with who...mightve been in the JayC interview done around the same time.
The part about not wanting to break up the sculpt tho....hes been saying that for years.

I'm fairly certain it was mentiond in at least one interview with Todd. That said, none of it matters as the clip on Kickstarter clearly shows that the figure will be articulated almost as much as the MK11 Spawn.

I wonder if he'll offer any stretch goals to push it that high, like more alternate heads/accessories. At some point in the next few days the demand is going to level out and it'll stop surging, so we'll see how greedy Todd gets if he offers more incentives to keep pushing it higher.

I think any stretch goals have been reached by now. They don't typically add them when you're 5x your goal amount. It's usually like 100k start, 120k bonus, 130k bonus, etc.

You're likely right, but it would be nice for a trickle of "surprises" over the remaining days of the campaign. A lot can happen in a month, even it it just ends up being a reveal of more details on things like the stand/base design.

Robogeek28 04-09-2020 05:28 AM

Over $700,000 now...

Damn.

Awkward Silent 04-09-2020 05:57 AM

Kinda feels like with a figure on track to make a million in crowdfunded dollars, there'd be a way to ship it to Australia that doesn't make the cheapest version cost over 140 AUD.

Plus: No stretch goals, no FAQ, no real prototype.

The more you think about it, the more you realize these guys have no idea what a Kickstarter is. But they are getting money thrown at them anyways so they don't care.

Yeah, maybe I'm just used to seeing other KS campaigns that are much more slick and polished, but it's a little surprising to see that their campaign seems kind of hastily thrown together in comparison. But, I guess none of that matters anyway as evident by their numbers.

I backed, will be happy with what's coming. But, if they are going to be tweaking since it's doing good numbers, I would want the money used for the below. Add in those additional articulation cuts.

I think they will update soon with some clarification, lots of questions in the comments over there. Mainly, does the 3 pack come with all 5 heads. Some confusion about that. Possible right now that 2 of the 3 in the 3 pack option come with new heads, but not the heads they come with as singles. Which would stink.

I mean, if people are happy to give them money based on what little they've shown/ told us, more power to them!

Even when you're successful you can still do things better. In this case, look at popular Kickstarter campaigns of the past and what they've done.

Add stretch goals, add more different versions for people to buy, put together an FAQ section, add a PayPal-store because not everyone owns a credit card... hell that's just the basics.

They could’ve done so, so much more. A video of Todd next to the thing actually explaining what it is. A social media campaign urging fans to share their collection. Add a goal to all of that, like "Unlock more looks at the product". A press kit with artwork so people can use it to spread the word…

I could go one for a bit here, but as I said before: It's obvious that they don’t know what a Kickstarter can do and they don’t care. It’s working out for them, no question about that, but with the right buzz those numbers could be even higher.

But this was more of a tool to see if people are interested in what McFarlane wants to sell than anything else. Short answer: Yes they are.
