Hasbro is doing that line. The only crossover we might see is characters from the LJN line that showed up in the cartoon.

Yeah, but that's just 1st world problem to me. I'm happy with what I get from Neca. Haven't broken anything on a dozen of them yet.

I got Hasbro's Drizzt on sale and he's not too bad. But I think Neca could probably do a better version of him. Again, one can only hope.

Yes. I'm aware. I wish NECA were doing that line instead.

Drizzt looks good but Guenhwyvar is incredible. If the OG animated figures looked like them it would have been great. While I understand the reason Hasbro addressed the cartoon line the way they did it's poorly executed.

Definitely a line they should have used some soft goods on, Hank especially.

I like Guenhwyvar's fig but I wish they could have made the chest wider and the legs more to the side so it doesn't look so pinched in the front. I got MOTU Masterverse Battlecat on a sale and that is my current favorite cat figure. Massive, superbly articulated, and only cost me $15.

Pfft, we're grown men throwing disposable income at boutique recreations of children's toys from 35-40 years ago. Just about any complaint in that context is gonna be a "1st world problem."

Venger too. His whole figure hinges on robification (word construction ala Early Cuyler). I wish I could sew. He'd look amazingly cool with full soft goods set up. Give him a neck and find some better wings and IT'S ON!

You would know much better than I. I didn't buy the set because I really only wanted the Guenhwyvar. I think MV BC is structurally great but am not a fan of the overall sculpt. I can't help but think it would have sold better if He-Man could actually sit on him. That's kind of important.

Loose Grimsword ankles

My Grimsword has loose ankles too, he leant and toppled off my cabinet and lost a foot in the fall while I was out at work after standing perfectly upright for weeks.

Did his foot peg snap? (welcome btw!)

I think thats just the nature of the plastic they use, seems like it slowly adjusts under its own weight over time. I have Garax from their Defenders of the Earth line who seems to fall over every couple of weeks even though Im always settting him so that he's completely grounded with the flat surface he's on.

Or that's what they want you to think. If you've seen the documentary "Toy Story" and it's 3 sequels, then you'd know that happened because you entered the room too quickly. I always announce my presence before entering my toy room, that way the toys would have time to get back to their places and therefore none of my toys ever fell over.

I haven't seen that documentary, but it seems plausible enough. I'll start doing that, too.

Yep! I glued it back on, but he'll never have much mobility on it again.

Any news/reviews for Elkhorn?

Strongheart fights evil on my nightstand and I don't think he'll be moved until another D&D figure arrives. Heh.

deecee4 01-24-2024 07:58 AM

Elkhorn was briefly in stock on the target site but sold out pretty quick.

Finally, a review for Elkhorn.

Looks great, I can't wait to get it.

SWEET! Can't wait. That backpack issue is just weird. What a terrible decision on the part of NECA.

Hoping NECA announce a new figure for this line soon. If it were up to me I'd pick Mercion I'd love to see how NECA tackle her tabard and cloak

There was a fwoosh interview with one of the sculptors of the line last year and I got the impression that Kelek was going to be next. But, I'm forgetting what exactly gave me that impression.

lordbest 02-26-2024 07:04 AM

Kelek is a good choice. I'd be more enthusiastic about it if I hadn't just got a wave of great Mythic Legions wizards but that's a me problem not a NECA problem, obviously.

Yeah, one of those wizards reminded me of Kelek actually. And if I had no idea Neca's was coming eventually, I probably would've ordered one to display with my DnD figures.

kantboy2 03-18-2024 07:55 AM

Kelek and Ringlerun should be sharing the same body underneath the
robes anyways, just like the old toys.

I'm guessing they're pushing the retro cards to justify the tooling costs of Peralay and the other characters. That dude should be amazing with the amount of detail the old artwork has for him.

They should come out with the Zarak army builders from the cartoons second intro. A few new heads/expressions, maybe an eyepatch for the unhooded head, new neck collars and belts and you have a half-orc army.

deecee4 03-18-2024 08:23 AM

I'm very curious how they're going to do ogre king and north lord, the so called giants. With grimsword being noticeably larger than the others despite being a regular sized figure in the vintage line. Will they be bigger than him? Or maybe they will be as big as him (grimsword being upgraded to giant status I guess). Hoping for the former.

I thought maybe 4H did that wizard as a homage. Way back in the W2 Advent of Decay Kickstarter they had a goblin that used Zarak's colorway. They've also done stuff like that to homage MOTU characters

Good question. Hopefully not too massive. Maybe just an inch taller that Grim. It may just be me but when 7" scale figures get up into 11"-12" they start to seem like 1/6th scale. Like McFarlane's Swamp Thing. It's a fantastic figure. But I wish it were only 8" or so.
