Yeah I dunno what McFarlane’s problem is with female chara- uh wait… wait… my hands are shaking… I-I think my inner boyhood is turning into a serial killer!

He's going to go where the money is at because, a) Like most normal people, he likes money and money is what makes the world turn, and B) He has a multi-million dollar payroll and other overhead that has to be paid every 2 weeks (in regards to payroll) and every month (for expenses and some cases as little as 10 days at the time of services being rendered...every vendor is different although most do a standard 30 days to pay). If you're releasing a bunch of figures that aren't selling at all or very few then you're going to lay off employees because you can't pay them and eventually you'll have to close the doors because you can't pay the rent/lease or anything else. While agree he needs to dramatically cut down on the variants double and triple dips, there's also a chance that he simply can't do it because he isn't Mattel or Hasbro huge. He also has contract limitations set by places like DC/WB when it comes to DC releases. Every wave must have at least one Batman figure and he can't include trigger weapons of any kind with anything. He can get around the trigger weapons by releasing weapons packs that contain items specifically made for certain characters. His Spawn weapons pack just got released and it has the two hand guns that were supposed to be included with Red Hood and it has 2 more handguns meant for one of the jokers. The rest are assorted weapons most likely meant to be paired with a specific figure in DC and/or other lines with that limitation. At the end of the day, it's his company but he can't necessarily do whatever he wants when it comes to a lot of the decisions made and those so-called 1990s quirks he has also must be selling because if they didn't he wouldn't continue to do them.

I’m not the only guy who thinks this about Todd and I’m surprised you feel as if he’s in the right with his ethics and you are entitled to your opinion but you need to take a lot into consideration before saying females don’t sell, end of story.

Maybe they didn’t sell well in the past couple of years because companies couldn’t care enough to make them look good. Remember the toybiz, original Hasbro, and original Mattel ladies and how they were lanky and had really weird proportions, and if you did your research you would know that is probably we’re those stats are coming from.

Just look at how good the recent marvel legends ladies have sold when the company actually put effort into them (Scarlett witch, sylvie, captain carter, tigra, Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson, spider woman, mystique, Emma frost, binary, classic rouge, may Parker spider girl, Typhoid Mary, scream, ect.). When companies listen to the fans and try to improve they will sell.

Plus when Todd actually chooses to make a female it’s usually just Wonder Woman in a outfit she’s only worn once that no one cares for.

And please don’t give me that whole he cares about money shit, Hasbro even though they jacked up prices, for the most part listens to us and makes obscure characters that are wanted by the serious fans no matter how badly they might think they will sell.

Anyways I’m done with the rant, don’t want to hurt Todd’s male pride.

T0ySick 07-15-2022 11:40 AM

Why did they call it McFarlanes Summer showcase..and Not Mcfarlanes DC Multiverse Summer Showcase..did he show other properties?

Thatannoyingguy 07-15-2022 01:06 PM

Wow. Bane already sold out fast on BBTS.

You won't ever hurt a multi-millionaires feelings/pride/income, who's made a career on not giving a sh!t what others say/do/think/or how they run thier businesses..

He is quite literally THE reason toys even look the way they do these days..All toy companies included.

It's cool to want certain things from companies. I have my wants..but I won't hold my breath. I just don't support it if I don't like it.

EvilMonkeyPope 07-15-2022 01:17 PM

Bane's missing paint on his hands. That big silver tube should be green like the rest.

I wouldn’t have said that last part because you pretty much just said you don’t like the idea of females getting representation and in todays society that can get you under fire.

Todd wouldn’t be successful if it weren’t for kickstarter and companies signing over their licenses, plus I’m willing to bet he doesn’t even do much except pick out wich characters are cool and not female to put in the line.

And I want everyone to get what they want from the line not just myself, I don’t want only females or only males but both included equally. I’m glad you like Todd but personally I think he needs to get his facts straight and open his eyes.

And by the way enough complains can hurt anyones pride and get them to see reality no matter how rich they are or how tuff the (metaphorical) mask they put on may seem because no one is immune to criticism and ignoring the issue is just a coping mechanism that one day won’t work anymore.

What ever you want to read into it is your choice.

I may have misunderstood or misinterpreted you, but judging by the conversation you were saying it about it’s kind of hard not to.

Anyways I’m sick of the back and fourth so I’ll just say I dislike him whereas you like him and that’s okay because everyone has a right to a opinion and arguing isn’t going to help anyone. :)

jostju 07-15-2022 03:27 PM

Looks like Talon is joining He-Supes in the "who does a better Stilt-Man impression" competition. Who's sculpting these things, the Slender Man?

Bane's tube was originally silver and focusing on this figure the sculpt of that central one is more like a metal cable than the conventional tubes around it.

Missing fists is my one current gripe but it is worth noting that much of Bane's fighting style involves grapples and throws which these hands should work fine for.

Krunomo 07-15-2022 06:18 PM

Little disappointed that multiple brands ended up being DC, Spawn and Dragon's. Was hoping for some Mortal Kombat, Witcher and Doom. Looking at the SDCC exhibitors list it appears that McFarlane toys is giving that a miss making this suck a little more. You would think if they are giving SDCC a miss they would have a really big Summer event with alot more to show.

Well there was at least one occasion where he just didn't pay his employees because he spent all the money he needed for overhead on autographed baseballs and such, so he's not always the best businessman around.

But to be fair, you are correct that this is a licensor/licensee situation, and if DC isn't going to push for him to make more Batmen instead of certain characters including more women, there isn't much he can do about it.

The rumored Parallax has been spotted in the wild. Unfortunately, Reddit won’t allow me to link to the image directly.

Parallax could use metallic paint.
When is Todd going to solicit regular Arkham Scarecrow?

Whoa wasnt even aware this was happening " looks cool" !
This isnt bad but surprised he doesn't have more scary expression like anger or crazed .

Thatannoyingguy 07-16-2022 06:31 AM

I think it’s gonna be hard to top McFarlane’s new Bane.

Mafex is not going to make their Bane that shredded with veins all over, because they like to make their figures look clean cut and smooth. I mean, IF they reveal Bane (cuz of that Azreal Batman). We’ll see in the medicom expo.

scarecrow 07-16-2022 01:31 PM

Glad to see that toyark’s denizens haven’t softened their Asperger’s approach to everything that are toys. The text walls are straight up cringe- and I hate to say that because I agree with the “more diversity in what’s on the shelves” argument.

But shit yeah, I’m so damn excited about that Bane.

Asperger's is outdated terminology for autistic people including myself, my kid and my best mate. What relevance does it have here?

Honestly, I’ve been ignoring your posts about Asperger’s. You say it so often like it’s such a broad term that you can literally apply it to anyone who’s more interested in a particular thing, like sports (people who talk on ESPN all fucking day long)or celebrity that talks about gossips all day long.

EvilMonkeyPope 07-16-2022 06:07 PM

Will there be a restock on exclusive Arkham Scarecrow? I didn't expect it'd sell out before the normal version was even solicited, & I wanted to compare both before choosing.

First off, I agree with this.

Second, hopefully, this will quell the complaints of some of the people here on the reason why there are so much Batman figures for the DC Multiverse. I blame WB/DC on their lack of confidence to push other characters aside from Batman and on the notion of guns, I'm pretty sure Todd wants to have his DC figures with guns. Why would he release a "weapon pack" if he didn't care about the complaints at all? Regardless of your opinion of Todd, at least it looks like he's listening to his fans more after nearly losing his toy company.

Umm I may be low on the spectrum but I still have autism and I wish you would stop using that word like it’s slang.

And why is it cringe to show reasoning for what you want and believe no matter which side of the argument your on.

I don’t blame Todd for using Batman as a fail-safe but the lack of females can’t be attributed to dc not pushing their characters. It is hard to not be upset when Todd doesn’t want to make females based on sexist reasons and outdated statistics that I’ve already proven can’t be reliable.
