There are some changes to the various Star Wars movies that actually make sense. Vader's eyebrows are one of them.
The Ewok's blinking is another.

I think I'm his age and I can tell you the possibility of being able to do that decreases with age.

What was wrong with the prior Classifieds Cobra Commander?

Some just wanted a classic looking cc. Me im perfectly fine with the new classified cc as i like the updated looks of most of the joes ( fireflys ugly ass vest being one of the exceptions ) and im a bot let down that the modern look to joes is being pushed aside. Doeant mean i dont like the upcoming figs i love em i just was fine with the modernized looks.

Okay, do it's more of a "True Version" of than character than a reflection of the quality of the previously released Cobra Commander.
I even thought that maybe there was somewhere in the lore where a Cobra Commander imposter wore that version of the outfit.
Hence the "True" Cobra Commander.

I gave all of this way too much thought is what I'm saying.

Classified V1 CC is hideous on it's own merits. Here's why:

1. Helmet shape: It sucks
2. Weird cape shoulder pauldron with multi wrapped bondage chain: Ugly
3. Knee boots: Hideous
4. Spainish style armor toe and heel covers on boots: Makes them uglier and adds a pointy upturned toe.
5. Suit design: Busy with 0 style. They just kept adding elements until they ran out of room.
6. Flintlock pistol: What the actual fuck?

I'll also add that classic Cobra Commander is one of my favorite designs in ARAH. It's timeless. In addition I think the entire first wave, with the exception of Destro, are pretty bad. I'm all for different looks for classic characters if they are done well. But none of those are. They are a busy convoluted mess.

As you can tell all of my problems with the "design" are presented without an ounce of personal opinion. These are all facts and based on incontrovertible evidence.

I'm not going to argue with your opinions, and I agree with everything you listed. However, that's exactly how I envision Cobra Commander would dress if he gets his way with his "Tailor-Viper":

CC: "I want LOTS and LOTS of chains, ribbons and element on my uniform! Keep adding until you run out of room! Oh, and cape, knee boots with armor toes and heels!"
Tailor Viper: "But sir, no one dress like that anymore..."
CC: "Yessssssssssssssssssssssssss! OH, and give me that flintstock pistol."
TV: "why?"
CC: "BECAUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSE!"

I've given up. If they announce him, great. But I think the next wave will be the renders we've already seen (hopefully the female troopers are part of it).

I couldn't stand having Classified CC on a shelf any more and I didn't want a Classified display without Cobra Commander so I've actually demoted my Classified stuff to the basement and replaced it with Black Series. I'm not done with the line, but I'm done being excited by it for now. They've been stringing me on for too long. I wouldn't collect MOTU without Skeletor or Star Wars without Darth Vader. A real Cobra Commander's absence from the line has just worn me down.

I...don't really know what to say about all of that. You do you, man. Not collecting a line I really like because I haven't gotten a specific figure is just...silly. How has it "worn you down"? Is it THAT depressing? We already KNOW IT'S COMING. With The HISS in fact! Did you back The HISS?

So once they release a CC you like will you begin collecting again? Will you go back and get other figures you missed?

Think about it. All those different branches of Vipers with their snazzy uniforms, you know they have a branch that took care of the stuff. The guy that proclaimed "For our new heavily armed urban division, I present to you: ORANGE AND BLUE!" probably got the CFDA Fashion Award that year.

It's not just a specific figure. It's the most important character in the brand (I suppose this is arguable, so I guess I will say at least to me). I'm not asking for some random Z-list character and being all angry about it. It's Cobra Commander! And we're years and years into this line now. But I don't want to rant.

I did back the HISS (four of them in fact), but am I really going to open Mickey Mouse Commander? I could. But it will be hard to open such a rare figure and ruin the card he comes on. So he isn't going to really fix this issue of what to do with a Classified display.

I'm not dropping the line. I'm going to preorder stuff on Tuesday, if it goes up (probably just Shipwreck and the Female Troopers, assuming I'm guessing correctly). I just am not excited about Classified much any more. Cobra Commander is why I like G.I. Joe and I'm not confident they are going to reveal a real version of him any time soon (I now believe the people that interpreted Emily as saying that mold won't be available until after the tank comes out).
